  1. No downside whatsoever in making this move and its one that should have been made way earlier.
  2. This team needs a hitter or two that is better than anyone in this current lineup. Guys like Rizzo and Garrett Cooper are not nearly the impact bats that we need. Bryant fills the bill perfectly but he is way out of our price range. Stearns is going to have to get creative to improve a lineup that is not nearly good enough against solid pitching. It would also be wise to acquire right handed hitters as we were pitiful against lefties.
  3. The Brewers need a real difference maker if not two in the lineup. They had the worst lineup of any playoff team and counting on Yelich and Hiura to be those big bats would be foolish. With clear salary constraints I have no idea how they pull this off but this team desperately needs some big time hitters.
  4. That will unfortunately be the next guy's fault. Firing the hitting coach is quite possibly the lowest hanging fruit of baseball fan complaints. What is the argument for keeping Haines. The offense has been pretty bad with him as the hitting coach and several guys including the franchise player in Yelich have badly regressed. I too blame the hitters who just aren't good but Haines has to take the fall when there is nothing saying he is good at his job.
  5. You move him if and only if we receive the type of overwhelming offer that the best closer in baseball should demand. If the offers continue to be underwhelming as they were last offseason we retain a great pitcher.
  6. Yelich himself admitted he initiated talks with ownership about a contract extension and its not the first time Attanasio has decided to sign players long term on his own. He gave Braun the second extension, and signed both Lohse and Suppan on his own as well. The guy owns the team and can do what he wants but its extremely obvious that he was the driving force behind the Yelich signing.
  7. Haines has to be fired at this point. There is just no justification whatsoever for him to remain the hitting coach. The players deserve the brunt of the blame but this guy adds nothing to the organization.
  8. Maybe Mark A will finally learn his lesson and not interfere and let Stearns do his job. It is clear that Stearns had nothing to do with this contract extension.
  9. Our offense was not nearly good enough. Take a look at every other postseason teams lineup and you will see that the Brewers easily had the worst of them all.
  10. I heard an interview a week or so ago with Buster Olney and he was of the belief that the Brewers have an option year on Stearns contract. I would let Burnes walk before letting Stearns leave and I hope Attanasio feels the same way and locks David up long term.
  11. Why? He's the exact same player that no one was willing to pay big for last offseason when he had three years of control. Now someone is going to pony up the prospects with one less year of control? What changed? What may have changed and we have no idea if its true or not is that teams like San Diego and the White Sox may just be desperate enough to give us what we want. Preller in particular has to be feeling the heat after San Diego collapsed as they did.
  12. Keep in mind that Attanassio voted against Cohen buying the Mets so I don't see him being willing to let him steal our top executive. I think Mark realizes what he has in Stearns and will make him one of the top paid executives in the game.
  13. For the first time in this teams history we have championship level starting pitching and I am not willing to give that away unless we are getting a sure fire offensive stud on the level of a Vlad Jr or Wander Franco which is certainly not happening. Hader on the other hand may very well go but only if we are receiving very high value. Stearns has to realize that we had the weakest lineup by far of any postseason team and I expect him to acquire a top hitter but it won't be at the expense of one of our top 3 starters.
  14. No one talks about it but this organization hasn't drafted and developed a big time hitter since Braun. Once again we didn't have one everyday player drafted by the team unless you count Cain who was reaquired as a free agent. Stearns has done an incredible job putting together the best pitching staff in team history but the lineup was clearly the worst of any playoff team and not nearly good enough.
  15. Its quite the problem that close to half the payroll is being spent on our outfielders with Garcia being the only one who had even a mediocre season with the bat.
  16. I will go on record and say I would have gone with Burnes and I would have switched up the lineup. Escobar should be playing first base over Rowdy and Peterson should be in right field over Garcia. Also I will be the only one to say this but give me Bradley who has had postseason success over Cain. Lauer has been good but I don’t trust guys like him with average stuff in the playoffs. Going out with your fourth or fifth best starter is not a good look even if it’s understandable. If this team goes out with a whimper I hope Stearns makes big lineup changes over the offseason and finally gets rid of the incompetent hitting coach. Let’s hope for the best but I’ve lost my confidence in this team because of what is a terrible offense.
  17. Vogelbach is hard to have on your roster. He can’t run. He doesn’t hit lefties. Back to back games pulled because of these problems. Atlanta has a bullpen full of lefties, and a lefty starter that's going to pitch twice, and your 1B is Rowdy Tellez. I have no idea why Vogelbach is on the roster for this series. We don't have a right handed alternative so thats why he's on the roster.
  18. You have to work hard to walk Arcia but Box got it done.
  19. Would be nice to draft and develop one. Unless you count Cain who we drafted but brought back in free agency we don't have one everyday position player that was drafted by this organization.
  20. Yep. You can say that Fried was great and hard to score off but that inning was a big opportunity that we just squandered.
  21. If we can't score off that guy you have to start to be concerned.
  22. Once Ashby learns to throw strikes consistently he's going to be great. He's pretty good now but the sky is the limit with him.
