  1. Eh, I'm sure they'll sign Darvish any day now.
  2. Correct. We lose the third round pick, not the third pick.
  3. Absolutely baffling that when you have a chance to add a guy we HOPE Corbin Burnes or Woodruff could be for 4 years cheap as **** nobody thinks its a great deal. Sorry but I will take the guaranteed talent every time thanks. Cheap doesn’t matter that much as posted above. He’s the final piece most likely. Put yourself in the position of someone that realistically thinks the team might not be better than the Cubs the next 2 years even with Archer. Then consider basically 70% of the players expected to come up and help the team or maybe be trade chips for 2020-2026 are gone. I’m not renouncing fandom if they deal for Archer. I’ll enjoy it and hope everything works out. I just see a lot more downside than some do that are penciling in every optimistic projection for the Brewers in these trades. You're doing the same thing with regard to the success of minor league players. Every one of the guys traded to the Miami has a pretty big bust factor. It was reported that Tampa didn't want Brinson because they were afraid of his hit tool. I certainly have more faith in Tampa's ability to judge talent than Miami's. Chicago and Houston both had to spend resources (talent and money) to make it happen. Hoarding prospects alone is not going to open a very large window.
  4. You are free to leave, no one is keeping you here. Bye. Bye Felicia....
  5. Santana & T. Williams for Salazar, Kipnis, McKenzie?
  6. How is that not accurate. If those team options are declined, would they not all be FA's at the end of 2019? He didn't say they would be, just that they can be.
  7. While I agree this trade is not likely given Santana for Salazar alone if pretty equal, I do believe that Cleveland is likely needing to go all in this year given Andrew Miller, Cody Allen, Michael Brantley are FAs after the season, Jay Bruce and Carlos Santana are already gone, Jason Kipnis has been hurt and Encarnacion, Carrasco and Kluber can be FAs after 2019. Trading for Santana makes a ton of sense. Part in bold is not accurate. Edwin has a team option for $20M in 2020 (or $5M buyout) Carrasco has team option for $9.5M in 2020 (no buyout) Klubers has team options for 2020 (at $13.5M) AND 2021 (at $14M).. How is that not accurate. I those team options are declined, would they not all be FA's at the end of 2019? He didn't say they would be, just that they can be.
  8. LOL, that would be so Brewers.
  9. I agree. Tampa is not a good matchup for many reasons. Someone mentioned Santana and Broxton but Tampa really doesn't need an OF, much less two of them.
  10. We have it on good authority that Darvish is not coming to Milwaukee and will sign with the Cubs. Or so I've been told. They may not be directly waiting on Darvish, either. It could be their actual target (Arrieta, Lynn, Cobb) is waiting for Darvish to sign first to establish the market. And the Brewers are waiting in the balance since they can't deal Woodruff (or Davies) until they have the FA starter plugged in first. Just speculation at this point, but it makes sense as to why the rest of the predicted "flurry" of activity hasn't happened yet. Or, there never was a "flurry" of activity. Having said that, you could be right. Time will tell.
  11. No that’s not even close imo i dnt think they’d do thAt without Santana in the deal and even if you swap Santana for Thames or Broxton still would probably need another piece And that other piece would be Burnes or Ortiz or both.
  12. Because it's a board and people like speculate. Almost all of these trade offers are treating Mejia like a throw-in. I am higher on Mejia than Brinson, but they are I believe the #19 and #20 prospects right now in baseball. I think Mejia climbs higher by this time next year, but let's treat them the same. People are just acting like we'd have thrown in Lewis Brinson as the tiebreaker in a very close trade. It's kinda absurd. "You think that Broxton for [insert moderate-ceiling AAA reliever here] is slightly in the Brewers favor but very close? OK, we'll throw in Brinson to smooth that out." Someone just posted Mejia for Santana. I think that is somewhat closer to a reality, but I still think Cleveland hangs up the phone and waits for a few more pieces to be added before they even start thinking about it. I don't disagree with you at all.
  13. No, we do not think that.
  14. Because it's a board and people like speculate.
  15. One of the local radio guys, Matzek maybe, said he was texting Bruan after the Yelich/Cain deals and Braun said "they were just getting started". From a practicality standpoint and some anecdotal evidence, it sure seems like they are pressing for pitching. I'm going to stay positive and assume the delay/complication is that they are going after more than one pitcher and they are making sure they align everything just right before pulling the trigger.
  16. We have it on good authority that Darvish is not coming to Milwaukee and will sign with the Cubs. Or so I've been told.
  17. Yeah, I think he specifically called out Lynn or Cobb as costing us that pick.
  18. Cool, doesn't change my point though.
  19. You might be right but I thought it was laid out in another thread, or maybe earlier in this one.
  20. Right, but we already lost a draft pick on Cain. Losing another one for Lynn or Cobb may be difficult My understanding from the on-deck event today is that they are going for it and they have obviously already burned the third round pick. Why would a fourth rounder stop them?
  21. I gotta say I'm disappointed that a pitching acquisition has not been made by now. I'd have thought that piece being in place would have been far more important than any acquisition on the offensive side of things. These moves are going to look very bad if they don't find at least one arm and I believe they need two.
  22. I'm not arguing the quality of ballplayer that Santan is, and your correct in that I was questioning top level pitching. My contention is that if they are "going for it", they need two good arms, not one. I trust Stearns but I'd guess Santana has to at least be part of a deal to get one of those arms or they don't get one. If they don't get two, I don't understand the move they have made to this point.
  23. Do you think this team currently has enough starting pitching even if they sign a FA pitcher?
  24. Your source for all that inside information? You are speaking factually, those are not facts, not even close. HH19 pretty flatly said he wasn't going to be a Brewer and that he was signing with the Cubs. I've been told his inside information is irrefutable.
  25. I highly doubt the Brewers didn't have a vision for what they were trying to accomplish and I highly doubt they didn't lay that plan out for Darvish. Darvish could have said "let me see how that goes and we can talk again", but he didn't. He said no. He doesn't want to be in Milwaukee so he isn't going to be in Milwaukee.
