  1. This was a "rumor" from Jim Bowden. Seemed to have been shot down relatively quickly. This proposal is not a thing. I know that ... but now I see people retweeting this Brew Crew Ball article. It's irresponsible to even report on this crap, let alone throw up a click-baiting inaccurate headline. Even Bowden's dumb post didn't mention anything about that offer being submitted to the Orioles, yet the headline and first sentence of the Brew Crew Ball story indicates that. I'm sorry, but that is junk journalism. Maybe it is just the journalism background in me, but anytime you want to dedicate your time and resources to a website yourself let me know and I will be glad to follow it and unnecessarily critique it. A publication shouldn't be judged on one post. It was a relevant rumor when posted. It includes Heyman's take on it. It also has a poll for fans to give opinions. "Possible package" -- "This contradicts reports we’ve heard" -- "Jon Heyman ran to quell Brewers fans fears, saying there’s no way the Crew include all three for Machado." -- "What are your thoughts?" -- These are all accurate. Nothing he posted was false and was just citing a source. No need to pick it apart. It's deadline season. Rumors are what most fans want. There is 4,000 votes on that poll too, btw.
  2. Unfortunately with all media this is the common trope. I work in local media and people will find the pettiest things to complain about. Hair, makeup, voice, etc. Journalism and Broadcast in general is a competitive business. These people got and have these jobs for a reason. All that being said, Wisconsin in general is spoiled rotten with a very good broadcast team (TV and Radio) on almost all sports. Sophia does a great job and the bi-lingual aspect of her reporting will easily grant her a path out of Milwaukee when her contract is up if she wants to leave, to which I hope she doesn't. I think a lot of people undervalue the importance of having a reporter that has experience with the team. Telly and Sophia both have built personal relationships with coaches, managers, front office, etc. Elevates the level of reporting and knowledge of reporting a ton. Ad-libbing in front of a camera isn't always the easiest thing, especially with just a paper script in your hand.
  3. Knebel to the 60 man is a no-brainer. If they want to wait a couple of days, they can bring up Lopez for a few days, like they did last season. This was my thought. I don't see this injury not being a huge recovery time. Then again maybe that is my over-reaction.. But didn't look good. I did overlook the 40-man though. Hope it plays in Williams favor.
  4. Well this is a bit of an over-reaction. At least the injury is at a position of depth. Call up Hoover (I'd prefer Williams, but likely will be Hoover) move Jeffress to closer. There is literally 155 games left.
  5. Waiting to inevitably sign Daniel Hudson after he was released today. Only half kidding... I think.
  6. "Sources within the Milwaukee Brewers are now aware of this account and for the safety of my source, this account will be deleted later today. There will be no more info on http://BF.NET or any other media source going forward. This is my last post." I mean, this is probably just for the best. This whole charade is a bit old. Cryptic teases are not the same as posting legitimate sourced news. Or Cobb is signing elsewhere and he is getting a head of the news. Lets go back to a functioning board without following our one untrue god.
  7. Tore his ACL March of 2015.
  8. I feel as though we need to have a sticked post to note this: BrewerWorld is a parody account. Not serious. Don't take the account seriously. Still don’t get how they are a parody account. Take my word fwiw, but I know who runs it and it’s definitely not to be taken serious at all. They just post recycled news to build hype. Basically playing on all our need for rumor news, so if they post the freshest stuff people confuse accuracy with excitement.
  9. Brewers just got a new face to the franchise. You give value to get value. Yelich is still young and if things don't go as planned, be flipped in two years. Harrison has superstar potential, but he has equal bust potential. Diaz/Hiura couldn't necessarily exist together and Diaz coming off of a down year. We also didn't mortgage any of the future pitching wise. Brinson will likely be a future all star, but he had some injury concern and you got a sure thing for him. Short-term, this has to make every Brewers fan very excited. Domingo might wanna keep his phone close by these next few days though...
  10. High Heat... Any comment on Yelich from your source?
  11. Go home guys, significant acquisition has been made.
  12. Exactly. Ellsbury already won't be getting a ton of time in New York, and he would be one heck of a bench bat/4th/5th outfielder. I agree this seems weird but I think a lot of cogs are turned and pieces fall in place soon. Once this offseason starts moving it is going to move fast.
  13. He had inside info on the Lucroy to Cleveland trade. I trust him.
  14. We were in first place at the time. How much more competitive do we need to be? Which 2 exactly? The one who is currently in AA? The one who has yet to make a major league start? Or the one who has all of seven major league starts under his wing and who is starting to come back to Earth after an incredibly hot start? I mean come on. This is ridiculous. Considering Gray would currently be the best starting pitcher on the staff I don't think he'd be blocking anyone. Burnes won't be ready to begin next year anyway. And who knows how well Hader can be as a starter. I'll take the sure thing over the question marks any day of the week. Beside, if Burnes or Hader forces their way into the rotation (I leave a Woodruff out because I assume he's already in) then they'll find a spot for them. and the guy they replace will be a lot less talented than Sonny Gray. Don't get me wrong, Sonny Gray is a top of the rotation starter, but I think it is silly to not think the combined value of Hader/Woodruff/Burnes is going to far exceed the value of Gray. His 3.1 WAR is fine but outside the top 40 for starters. It doesn't matter if Hader is a starter or bullpen piece to gauge his value going forward. Sure, Burnes is a bit of a wildcard still, but short-sighted to write him off just because he won't be ready and Woodruff has had some solid starts to his career. His value isn't topped out at his seven starts you know. I don't agree that Gray is a "sure thing" by any means and has battled injuries this year and last. It seems you are incredibly displeased that the Brewers didn't risk the future to make the playoffs this year, but in hindsight losing Nelson and the Cubs hot streak, I think it was the right move to not. I know how tempting it was to see them do well (still in the hunt, mind you) but I don't understand the rush or want to move young prospects that should play a significant role moving forward.
  15. I really like Brian Anderson. He doesn't get national work because he's bad. I've lurked this board for about five years before I finally created an account to post and it really baffles me how many times this same thread pops up. Like Louis said, for Wisconsin sports we are incredibly spoiled with the radio and TV broadcast talent we have covering this state.
  16. IMO this is what will happen (if it happens). You know names like "Kinsler" or "Verlander" makes Antanasio all riled up and though DS has full control you know that little voice of Mark A's is in the background like "I'll spend".
  17. Brinson just pulled for a pinch hitter in the first... #Hugwatch
  18. What is up with the cynicism in this thread? You're supposed to be fans. This is a low cost acquisition that DOES improve this team and at the cost of an OF'er blocked by 6 other guys. I still think DS makes more moves, but this is a starting point and the exact deal we should be making to sure up the middle of the pen. We moved someone who would never be an impact player in Milwaukee for someone who will be, even if just for a half year... A half year we weren't even supposed to compete in. For real, enjoy the ride.
  19. Webb has been so bad, it really doesn't matter how good Cooper looks at this point. I've only seen him pitch two games but it's tough to imagine what a major league team saw in him to ever want to acquire him. Let's just hope he is nervous and will shake it off. I guess I'll be that guy... Webb got thrown into a bases loaded situation in his first apaperence with a new club and last night Polanco fought him off barely over Villar and Shaw ate a bad/tough hop at third Otherwise that inning is over. I would say he hasn't been "so bad", rather than some tough luck situations. But we're all going to see it differently.
  20. If this team is as close to competing as it apparently is, why trade Santana at all? He is literally exactly what you are looking for on a competitive/rebuilding team: young, improving, controlled. He's locked up until after 2021. I know we are OF rich, but why take the gamble on Phillips or Brinson when you know what Santana's floor is and he hasn't reached his prime/potential yet? I think Broxton makes much more sense to replace than Santana. Just seems like an unnecessary risk to trade what you know you have for a SP and then move in a prospect where you don't 100% know what you have, when you could just move the prospect plus a few lower pieces and keep the proven guy. I much rather trade Ray/Ortiz/+ for Gray or if it came down to it Brinson/+ than explore something with Santana at this current moment.
  21. Cooper starting and batting sixth tonight for the Yankees.
  22. You have an interesting take on "no names".
