  1. Arod has an opt-out after this year, Johan can go anywhere after '08. You'd be trading 4+ years for 1 or 2...not even close.
  2. There seems to be a lot of confusion here. The Brewers do nothing except sign with a AAA team. They do not decide where the teams are, and so on. Ottawa is moving to Allentown, PA by the way, and will be the Phillies' AAA team. The Madison option is likely pie in the sky. It would involve Mark A buying a current team and moving it to Madison after building a stadium. It certainly is not an option until after the current TV contract ends in '12, and not then probably. Now that Ottawa is soon to be gone, the worst AAA team might well be Nashville, if the stadium is truly that bad. There is likely nowhere to go but up.
  3. Pitching stats in the minors aren't all that important, as young pitchers are working on their stuff more than trying to win.
  4. Zumwalt apparently is looked at as a minor prospect, as he went tio the AFL. You can't teach velocity.
  5. Pretty good chance the Crew will add Ryan and Yo in the 2nd half, if they continue being effective. That'll be a nice step up without even making a trade.
  6. A day/night split DH on 7/28 would be my guess.
  7. He's still young and was rushed. A 4 ERA isn't bad at all, considering his limited experience in the minors. He might never be more than a reliever, but I'm glad we have him.
  8. Cantu has no place on this team when Braun comes up. Cappy will be the 1st pitcher brought up. We have much more use for Jose than Jorge.
  9. We actually considered Detroit. Me: They play in Detroit this year. Wife: Why would we want to go to Detroit? Me: You're right.
  10. I do love his chocolate banana concoction.
  11. Anyone look at the schedule yet and have a spot they'd like to hit? We thought about COL and TEX, but are unlikely to go.
  12. I've talked about Madison being the Brewers' AAA team a few times, but it would not happen unless Mark A wanted to build his own regional sports network and saw the Sounds as cheap filler. It would probably take a Cuban-type to be willing to build a stadium, lose money on the team, and so on.
  13. In a world where Marquis gets $7M per and Lilly/Suppan get $10M, we're thinking Kim doesn't have value? C'mon, even his past couple years make him pretty decent. I think he'd thrive in KC or another media market where he could start every 5th day.
  14. Don't get my hopes up like that Pogo, me loves BK.
  15. Barmes would be fine if we also got a solid reliever. As I have mentioned however, I don't see a team trading for Capellan dealing a solid reliever.
  16. Capellan and Jackson for Cordero? Sold! I'm sure DC wants to add to their bullpen depth by trading their best reliever for two guys at AAA.
  17. If the Brewers want a 3B with some pop that cannot field, they'd bring up Braun. Cantu also has no home as soon as Braun comes up. It's just not very feasible.
  18. We already have Jamey Carroll, he just goes by Craig Counsell.
  19. I like Baker, but he's now out of options. I like our pitching depth, and hate to lose any of it. I'd want a AAA arm with some upside for Jose. If there isn't one available as good as Jose (which I doubt), maybe add a solid AAA SS/2B as well. Our depth in that area is only the vets in the bigs.
  20. So in parts of Iowa, do they get 6 teams on Direct with just the sports package (or basic)? That's a mini Extra Innings package in itself.
  21. Bruce, I did not know such a spot existed. I assumed Duluth was the Twins market, but i suppose Superior is a Brewers' one, so hence the overlap.
  22. Bruce, unless you are in some strange land I am not aware of, you are not supposed to get the Brewers in MN. You might wish to not let anyone know about this, or someone will "fix" it.
  23. Are you a MIN person? If you are, you should just be blacked out of the Twins.
  24. You never get your home market games on EI, no exceptions. It's all done by zip code.
  25. If Hart does sit, I assume Mench starts in RF, as I pondered last night at Ramblings. That would not surprise me at all, however, I'd not expect a Gross appearance in the lineup.
