  1. Graffy would be well ahead of Chavez at SS.
  2. I'm not sure if Sarfate is just a bit rusty or pressing. As long as his velocity is ok, I'm not concerned. He's got that magical option left, he can work it out in Nashville.
  3. They have done profiles the same day many times this Spring. I think they've discussed it.
  4. Colby, because guys who throw it over the plate get rocked in the pros. Gotta have the stuff first, you can teach the rest. You can't teach velocity...though you can add a bit to it with proper mechanics, I s'pose.
  5. Sadly, I did a mutual fund for awhile, single and working while in school. I got it up to about $5K, and then sold it when we needed money, my girlfriend, now wife, was on an unpaid internship for a semester, unable to work except Saturday, and we were having to pay for a pair of apartments for 6 months. Heck, I lived at home during my first 2 years of college, but didn't work much, as I had so few expenses. I think the market was at about 1500 then...missed that boat.
  6. Never used anything but simple math in my life. I sure wish they would have taught me some simple investment stuff during that Calc/Geometry time. I learned it all eventually, but like most, I didn't invest nearly enough when I was 18-25, when it has all that time to compound and grow.
  7. Me neither, I thought ESPN owned all of these. Maybe they're happy to make a couple bucks from FSN.
  8. However, Walker does not fit the "What do we do when Koskie returns/Braun comes up" concern that Doug has spoke of. If we just needed a short-term 3B, Dave Bell did fine and is at least a plus defender and "gritty", he'd probably sign a minor league deal. I barely recall Walker ever playing 3B. He'd certainly be a fine pickup if he's capable and available.
  9. He does look mighty heavy. Of course, so does Dave Wells. If you pitch ok, he'll be called "stocky".
  10. He isn't even a decent AAA player...he's light years away from being anything but a 5th OF who can't hit...needless to say, they're a dime a dozen.
  11. So, how old does he look to you? If i did not know, I'd say he was a 31 year-old utility guy whose played for many different teams.
  12. Any worries about the "Brew Crew" one, Brian? that seems a little "close" to me.
  13. Jones is a decent CF, but a crappy LF/RF. I have little interest, especially for Jenkins, as he's off the books after '07.
  14. Any trade thread where Yo G is bandied about should be locked. Redding was a minor league FA, and why would we trade Nix, he has an option.
  15. Almost every player in the starting lineup was a member of the Reds, dodgers, Yankees, or A's. So much for the good ol' days.
  16. Why did the Brewers hang onto Hall, Hardy, Weeks, Fielder, and Hart? Hoarding is apparently a bad thing.
  17. Wow, 2nd mention of my 8 guys list. I should have freelanced that puppy. Neither Crede or Saenz are on it, by the way. I did not include starters and Crede is still the White Sox 3B. I did not consider Saenz to be anything but a RH platoon guy, which I feel Graffy can do fine.
  18. Gulin needs to be tried as a relief guy, for heavens sake. He'll still have 15 years left as a loogy!
  19. Isn't Upton one of the top prospects in the game? The DEvil Rays are not even close to competing in the AL East, they need to build slowly and correctly, not by dealing youth for a guy who may be OK or may not.
  20. Nope. KC has to have more of a clue than this.
  21. Drew has no chance of making the Opening Day roster, barring 3-4 DL visits. His best bet is to have an OF get dealt, another go down, and then the Crew feel that Gwynn would be better served playing every day. Even then, he's a poor man's Nix.
  22. How come everyone is projecting YoGa to be a number 2 starter? I don't think I've seen over a couple prospects ever called a #1. Just like the 30th best pitcher in MLB is never labeled a #1, I guess. No one is an "ace", or I should say, only a dozen pitchers at most are considered that.
  23. The one article had them at about 1200 a game.
