  1. [sarcasm]Get on the horn STEARNS!!![/sarcasm]
  2. I would say it's similar to Hader in the best way to help the club right now is in the bullpen. I don't see Burnes sticking in the bullpen any longer than this year.
  3. The innings limit has to be the reasoning. Might be a blessing to get him out of Colorado Springs and into Milwaukee whichever way possible too.
  4. Tom‏ @Haudricourt Corbin Burnes pitched in relief for @skysox last night because #Brewers want to see how he looks in that role. Interesting. 3:47 PM - 19 Jun 2018 from Pittsburgh, PA Didn't know quote where to put this, so hopefully this will work. Not sure if this tweet will mean anything, but maybe he could start his career off like Hader did last year? Wonder if Burnes is close to getting the call.
  5. You don’t like Davies? I’m a little confused on that. I miss something? Well, I don’t necessarily like Davies. Not that I totally despise him with some crazy bias by any means. He has looked terrible all year and has shown little hope. Guess I’m not optimistic he will turn it around this year. Afraid back end rotation numbers would continue. We need more than that with this team. Freddy Peralta offers more of a ceiling...though I’m not a huge Peralta fan either. It kind of seems like a typical Davies year so far. He looks like a AAAA in the first half, and pitches like a #2 or #3 in the 2nd half. The Aramis Ramirez of SP.
  6. I agree with everything in this post. If we are to trade for a starter, I really like Happ and Ross as options for us. I don’t think I realized just how impressive of an age-35 campaign J.A. Happ is having while pitching in the AL East. Through 82.2 IP he has a 1.065 WHIP and a 10.2 K/9! And it would certainly be nice to add another left-handed starter to the rotation. [sarcasm]Unfortunately being raised a Cubs fan disqualifies Happ from further consideration.[/sarcasm] What about him being Ethan Happ's cousin? There has to be at least some Wisconsin pride in J.A. Happ.
  7. Pretty clear he was the weakest link in the bullpen. I was pretty excited about this signing, but he never came to form since his Spring Training injury. Next up, Sogard....
  8. Agreed, and adding three players (assuming the pitcher and catcher are high quality players) will deplete the farm system. It really doesn't seem like a Stearns-type of move to completely dismiss the future for one season.
  9. Dave Heller @dave_heller #Brewers moves: RHP Freddy Peralta recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs. LHP Boone Logan designated for assignment. 2:31 PM - 19 Jun 2018
  10. Agreed. Not sure I'm want to end up with a farm system like what the Cubs currently have. We spent a good chunk of time (less than expected) building up a very respectable minors system, it would be tough to see it take such a big hit after a couple trades. Of course, I do understand both sides of the argument, and not every year are talents like Syndergaard and deGrom available.
  11. I think Braun would be a better at 2B than Schwarber is in LF. Not saying much at all. I also think Braun would spend half the year on the DL. Yeah if someone slid within 3 feet of Braun trying to turn a double play, he'd probably break 3 bones in his leg and be out for the season. A majority of the reason I like him at 1b over LF is less wear and tear, 2nd base would only make things worse. Don't have to run and dive and jump as much...less aggravating his fragile body. And Schwarber, I really hope they keep playing him in left field. I want to see more "dives" from him. I know we won 2 games, but his "not even close to making the catch" belly flop on Monday was the highlight of this series for me. Yep, seems Schwarber is good for one of those dive attempts at least once a series. Never gets old.
  12. I guess I don't know what you qualify as blue chip, but I would disagree with that. Look at the Quintana, Chapman, Miller (Shelby and Andrew), Eaton, Yelich, Sale, Lucroy, Andrelton Simmons, etc. trades. Blue Chip prospects do get traded especially for elite controlled talent like deGrom.
  13. Oh come on. The guy has a sub 3 career ERA over close to 800 innings and may be the leading NL Cy Young candidate right now. On top of that we’d not only get him for the rest of this year but all of next year and all of the year after that. The Mets should not only expect to get Hiura and Burnes but should also, rightfully, expect to get more. Burnes ceiling is nowhere near that of Degrom and he’s done all of nothing in the major leagues yet. I’d be hesitant to trade Hiura just because we seem to lack very many high ceiling prospects right now, particularly positional prospects, and because he seems like the real deal. But you can’t acquire a talent like Degrom or Syndergaard with a bunch of mid level prospects. Agreed with everything here. The Mets would (and should) be asking for the moon for deGrom. The Brewers cannot get deGrom without giving up Hiura and Burnes/Peralta. Personally, I'd rather keep our prospects. Hiura is darn near untouchable for me at this point.
  14. I think Braun would be a better at 2B than Schwarber is in LF. Not saying much at all. I also think Braun would spend half the year on the DL.
  15. For Matz, we'll probably have to give up Hader, Arcia, Hiura, Lutz, Burnes...add in Ray and Supak as apparent filler to put it over the top. Why do so many of you think we'd have to give up our entire farm for 1 good pitcher? When in the last handful of years have we seen a massive haul for a SP? The Chris Sale trade is the only one, and Chris Sale is far superior to Degrom and his contract situation was far more team friendly. I'll also add that pretty much everyone thought that trade was a massive overpay at the time of trade. Matz would command far less than Degrom or Syndergaard, as he has major injury concerns and hasn't shown more than a mid-rotation ceiling. Because he is a cheap young talented pitcher. Let's not forget this guy was a top 15 prospect a few years back. Same could have been say about Zack Wheeler. We almost gave up Gomez (who was incredible at that time) for a guy who received TJ surgery that year and Wilmer Flores.
  16. Great list Eye Black. I think my only changes would be Realmuto - NL C and Michael Brantley - AL LF. I had no idea that Markakis was having such a good year.
  17. Except Hiura will likely be in Colorado Springs by early August. He's tracking for a MLB debut a year from now after the expected Super 2 cutoff. I doubt he spends much time at AAA at all on his way up - they already have a pile of middle infielders older than Hiura fighting over playing time, including the rotating utility guys in Milwaukee. I'd rather Hiura just play everyday in AA the rest of this season, then perhaps open next year at AAA until Super 2 passes - or if he proves he belongs he might be one of those guys who goes straight from AA to the Show. Agreed. I think he will be in AA for the rest of the year. At the very least, he needs the reps at 2b. Next year AAA until the Super 2 status passes, and then he's up in the show. Very similar to the path that Braunie took. I'm just happy the gave Hiura enough time to adjust to AA (if he even needs time to get acclimated). Most excited I've been for a prospect since Braun.
  18. @Chicago South (2-1) @Cleveland (1-1) @Philadelphia (2-1) vs Chicago North (1-2) vs Philadelphia (2-1) @ Pittsburgh (1-2) vs St. Louis (3-1) vs Kansas City (2-0) @ Cincinnati (2-1) 16-10
  19. ^^^ This made me laugh pretty hard. Well done!
  20. His splits in the minors last year suggest that he is much more effective against righties also. Looks a lot like Jacob Barnes from 2016.
  21. In terms of the numbers, he won't sniff Hader's jock at the moment. That's not a bad things, as Hader has historic numbers right now. As far as the SP prospect that gets moved into the bullpen and pitches 1-3 inning (and does it with success), yes I think he can be utilized a lot like Hader. I would feel more comfortable seeing him on the mound as opposed to Barnes.
  22. There are few players I'd be willing to trade for that would involve moving Hiura; Archer is not one of them. As for Realmuto, that is a pretty light package to acquire a great talent at a premium position. I wonder if the lack of success of Brinson, Diaz, and Harrison would make the Marlins think twice about trading with the Brewers.
  23. They don't even set screens anymore, players literally run up to the defender and hug them causing them to switch. The inconsistency is what drives me nuts. The refs swallowed their whistles in the third quarter when Harden and the Rockets were blatantly fouled on numerous possessions. With that said, I will take this brand of basketball over what college has become in the last 3-4 years. Feel like college should just be a free throw shooting contest.
