  1. Is anyone else curious why Carpenter leads off in that lineup? Wouldn't it make way more sense to do something like Martinez, Osuna, Carpenter, Gyorko, Molina, De Jong, Wong, Bader, P? Splits the lefties way better, you avoid having a string of 5 straight RH hitters against a RH pitcher. Seems super obvious to me. Even if not that lineup, somethign like that with Carpenter hitting 2nd or 3rd instead of 1st. I would personally start Bader in the leadoff spot and have Carp bat in the 2 hole.
  2. Who is the other? Matt Arnold? As much as I would want Montgomery to stay, I would have to think he's a hot candidate and deserves an opportunity to be a GM.
  3. Wouldn't mind seeing a lefty reliever start the game vs Carpenter again. Anyways, how awesome is it to be in a position to sweep the Cardinals at their place? Let's finish this magical season off with a bang. I love the quote that Braun said saying they can't afford to lose a single game if they want to win the division. Love the mindset of this team.
  4. It will be interesting to see how it's called against bigger QB's like Cam and Big Ben. That is literally best way to bring them down. This "rule" is beyond ridiculous.
  5. It seems tough to get deals done with the Mets front office. I the Brewers trade for Syndergaard, deGrom, Wheeler, and even Matz, they will being overpaying and that doesn't seem to fall into the way Stearns operates. Some other options: James Paxton - 2 yrs arb. (as stated above) Carlos Rodon - 3 yrs arb. At some point the White Sox will see the potential turn into production. I think they will want Rodon for their team but who knows. Robbie Ray - 2 yrs arb. I have no idea what the future is of the Diamondbacks, but perhaps Ray could be had this offseason. Marcus Stroman - 2 yr arb. Reclamation project. I know Stroman wasn't a fan of his arbitration with the Jays last season, and it seemed to kind of snowball into the season. Sonny Gray - 1 yr. Same as Stroman. I think he still has #2 starter in him and would love to see the Brewers nab him this offseason.
  6. I agree they have stacked team, but maybe some of their stats are inflated due to playing the White Sox, Twins, Tigers, and Royals. Plus this "Cy Young" is giving up bombs to Suter.
  7. Trevor Story reportedly has UCL damage in his right elbow. That may really hurt their chances of making the playoffs. I hope COL gets in because that seems to be a much better match up for the Crew.
  8. +1 on the mascot as well. That's what I love about minor league baseball. We already have a Catfish and an Oyster. What's wrong with a Ballapeno?
  9. Heck, even the Indians are 43-23 vs their own division. Their record against the rest of MLB is 40-43. They seem like a really solid team, but maybe the fluff schedule is the reason for that.
  10. If the arby figure is just $2.5 million, odds are good he'll be kept though not 100%, but he could get well over $3 million based on his 2017 and if that happens, they should pass. Santana looks to me like a one year wonder and there's still no place to play him. They've tried trading him when he was making minimum salary and coming off very good year. I don't see the market all that strong either. Domingo will be offered no matter what. He could very well be a one year wonder, but his minor league stats and 2016-17 stats would suggest he just had a really bad year this year. His 16-17 remind me a bit of Khris Davis' numbers with the Brewers in 14-15 (Higher BA, Higher OBP, similar SLG). He isn't a world beater in the OF, but he looks like Trout on defense in comparison to Davis. Would you be willing to give up a potential talent like that because of a down year?

  12. I agree with you, but here are a couple potential reasons why: I would say the ease of knowing you have a player locked up longer to go along with the player not pressing to earn that contract (Villar for example). I agree Jeffress feels comfortable here and would most likely be willing to sign for less than he'd get on the open market, but that is not a guarantee. Also, if the Brewers have a down year, trading Jeffress with 3 year left on his contract can bring back a lot more than a year by year contract.
  13. Dbacks start a series on Monday vs. the Cubs (@ HOU this weekend). Hope they are still in the picture by then. They are falling fast.
  14. There are many ways to get Baez out, throwing a fastball down the middle is not one of them.
  15. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Might not be the worst idea to bat him in the 5 hole. He just seems to be pressing since the HR's a showing up. Take some pressure of a guy that is reaching uncharted territory (games and intensity).

  17. Cannot stand the "must win" term, but I agree with everything you said. This is the point of the season where a one game swing makes that big of a difference.
  18. 1. Patrick Corbin 2. Nathan Eovaldi Camp Invite: Chris Tillman It seems like just about every option available would add to the depth, but it wouldn't make the rotation much better especially considering the price tag that some of these players will be asking for. I wanted Garrett Richards, but he won't be ready until 2020. At that point, a transition to the bullpen may be in his best interests.
  19. yeah there was a lot of contact there but I thought it was between Adams and Cobb to be honest. Haven't seen a replay though. It was man coverage and Cobb's defender basically hip checked Adams 5 yards down the field. Ball was already in the air, so there should have been something called on that play.
  20. Diamondbacks remaining schedule: 4 @ COL 3 @ HOU 3 VS CHI CUBS 3 VS COL 3 VS LA 3 @ SD If the Dbacks find a way to get into the playoffs, they will have to absolutely earn it.
  21. It's sad that it takes an injured QB for MM to figure this out. To me, it's so obvious this should be our offense, that I started wondering if that's what MM wants, but Rodgers tries to extend every play for the big play. There is no reason why James White is more effective than Ty Montgomery in the NFL.
  22. Really hope Rodgers can play every week without the risk of re-injuring and/or making the injury worse. I still feel like Rodgers could miss 2-4 games as he was playing on pure adrenaline yesterday. That game was an absolute classic game by Rodgers.
  23. I agree (helps that the Angels are my second favorite team). I just wish he was healthy because this wouldn't be a debate. He may be in the MVP debate instead. I know Jon Heyman, not my favorite, said this about a week ago and got roasted. After this incredible week, his "hot take" is looking more like a reality. Selfishly, I really hope that he can delay his TJ surgery until after the season.
