All right! Put your numbers up. How many wins during the 2025 season for the Brewers? Pecota says 79.6, 11.8 wins behind the Cubs. That is a 21-game flip from last year. I don’t buy it.
Whole numbers only, no .5 wins.
Put me down for 90. Come on Thursday! Go Brewers!
Zach Edey certainly got paid, despite being Canadian and on a student visa. I think if a player is paid in their home country, it’s ok. Maybe Indiana has some Balkan connections. Zrno committed to Indiana despite the uncertainty around Woodson. Perhaps they had a particular major he fell in love with, but it’s not outrageous to suggest that there was a nice $ package put together for him.
I watched game 1. Really fun that as a cubs home game, there were 30k dodger fans in jerseys and Let’s Go Dodgers chants. Nice to give LA some exposure to that market. Hope it helps that plucky little franchise sign some Japanese players.
That was sarcasm, but deferred until 2030.
I was at that stupid game. I agree that they struggled with Michigan’s bigs, but they still only gave up 67 points. UW only scored two points in the last four minutes. Gave up the last 6 pts of the game and lost by three. Make a shot, make the free throws, they walk out winners.
Just tell me if I am allowed to to complain about a strikeout with nobody out and a runner on third.
I think that the majority of complaints about ks, especially during game threads, are situational. When discussing individual players we talk about strikeout percentage, but situations like the one I mentioned above are still bad to get a strikeout.
We are entering the "did you hear about the statistician who drowned in a lake that averaged 3 feet deep" territory.
I’m working my way through all of the parks. Currently missing both Texas teams, both FL teams, ATL, Bal, Cle and the Mets. My favorite park is SF. The views, the food, the city location really are great.
Here is something I never understand. Pratt leads off the inning with a double. Then Chourio grounds one to short, Pratt takes off, is out by a mile at third. Announcers say, "That's what Spring Training is about. Knowing when to run..." Except that has been the same since Pratt was in Little League. Don't run on a ball to your right or make the first out at third base. They do the same thing when a centerfielder and left fielder miscommunicate on a ball. "They will have to work that out." Except it has been the center fielder's ball since forever. Always puzzles me.
I want the same guy who negotiated the Arenado deal to STL to be in the room for the McMahon deal. I want him to give us the same sweet deal he gave the cards. Colorado is still paying some of that salary.
I’m getting so tired of the turnover talk. They are turning it over at a similar, almost identical, pace to other years. Given that they are averaging more points and more possessions per game, I think it’s worth it. Faster pace brings with it the risk of more turnovers. They have averaged between 8.7 and 10.1 turnovers every year for the past 5. Might as well complain about missing free throws.
They had 72 possessions last night. That is above average. I don’t know how much crossover this BF group of posters has with Buckyville, but there is fantastic analysis of each game. Posters Turomon and Formerly BIS (someone new, EdBadger, did last night’s game) have tons of good data. Worth checking out. The rest of the site is a lot of shouting, but that postgame thread is gold if you like data.

That’s World Series Champion Glenn Braggs to you. I was so bummed when he and Billy Bates went to Cincinnati for Ron Robinson (beardless). According to the internet: The trade helped propel the Reds to win the 1990 World Series.
Regardless, I think we will continue to be happier with the results of games than we will be with the decisions of recruits.
on another note, I was under the impression that foreign players could not receive NIL in their student visas. They say Edey, as a Canadian, could get money from Canadian companies, but not US. My extensive four minutes of internet research hasn’t answered the question.
I would have thought back to back final fours with the most efficient offense in the history of tracking that would have helped recruiting but it didn’t. Zrno committing to lame-duck Woodson was a head scratcher.
but, what a game! Double-digit win at Mackey? Amazing
This is the point for me. I will pass on a grade because I have no idea. The conundrum for me is this: I think that the Hoskins deal is limiting their options, and if he had worked out, we wouldn’t feel as if the Brewers needed to make a move. But because he didn’t play very well, we want them to make another Hoskins-sized splash, which they can’t because Hoskins belly flopped instead.
i hate that I see a lot riding on Rhys Hoskins. I will also bet on Woodruff not contributing much. More than a third of the payroll on those two players.
Blackwell is probably my favorite player (on a team where I like ALL of the players), even though he's a little loose with the ball, and that's not ideal. Last night was not his best, but his drives in the second half were critical to getting the team out of 3pt launch mode after their hot start.
I am surprised that a win over NW moved the Badgers up three spots in the Net Rankings. They are up to 16 now. They are up to 13 in KenPom. It's a big move to make 20 games in. These rankings really value offensive efficiency more than defense, it would seem. If you hit your numbers (spread, total), you will not fall. In past years, Iowa's offense has kept them above the UW despite records and head to head saying otherwise.
This. How about Black just comes up and hits from the beginning. He could turn Hoskins into a bench player if he doesn’t OPS .561 again when he gets a chance. All of this discussion over a guy who has zero value if he’s not hitting. You could ride out Turang’s struggles because of his glove. Black has to hit the ground running.
