  1. Good prediction. However, I preferred the approach the Packers took. Don't reduce the possessions, just score on 6 of the first 7.
  2. Thanks for the responses, I got a good laugh. Fortunately the wedding is in the Caribbean and everything will be over by the time the game starts, local time, so my initial post was fully tongue-in-cheek. At my mom's funeral, a guy wore a Packer jacket and Packer Zubaz. The funeral was at 9 in the morning. On a Wednesday. In March.
  3. Sorry to derail the Packer thread with a personal problem, but I have to have "the talk" with my son this week. He's getting married on Saturday and I don't know how to tell him I won't be there.
  4. Can anyone smarter than me talk about the Hicks contract? Starter? $44 million? For a guy who has started 8 games in his career? I don't get it. I guess because all I saw at STL was a max velocity guy, I never thought of him as a starter.
  5. Houston lost to Iowa State on Tuesday. No more undefeateds. 1, 2, 3, 5, 9, and 11 lost this week when you add in Tennesee, Oklahoma and Marquette.
  6. Yesterday was bad. Today is fine. I'm in Madison.
  7. I'm going to the Caribbean for a week. If a trade happens while I am gone, could you post something hysterical on my behalf? Start with how much I hate the trade. Make sure the phrases "dumpster-diving", "tanking", and "trash" are included, and go ahead and pick a new team for me to root for. Don't forget to include my signature.
  8. Packers are playing the game, they might as well win it. Sad Jerry is the best Jerry. Dak Prescott is 2-4 in the playoffs and has only beaten Tampa, who had a 45 yo QB, and a Seattle team that had a QB benched in favor of Jarrett Stidham this year. So, nobody. I am glad they are not playing at Detroit, because they will probably have the Wolverines at the game, and talk about how they overcame getting caught cheating adversity, and I don't need to see that.
  9. It certainly makes sense, coming off of an injury, that he would like to do that. Have the player options, or the mutual options, become more common the last few years, or did I just miss hearing about it in the past? That seems like what a player would want on a "prove it" deal.
  10. Lovie said the "number one goal" was to beat Green Bay, not the only goal. Big difference. And again, since the Packers were at the top of the division, it made sense.
  11. I don't think so. One thing that I have learned is that fans often have way more emotion into these matters than the front office types. The Brewers will try to win the division, regardless of whether it is with or without Burnes.
  12. Ask yourself if you apply the same scrutiny to other coaches and analysts that the Brewers hire for their system. Or is it just the females.
  13. For those who want Hoskins, is there a number at which you say, "OK, I'm out?" The 2/36 number, I believe, is going to be low, because I think someone would have signed him at that already. As mentioned, I believe that he is looking for more years. If someone signs him for 4/80, would you say Mark A is cheap? Given that we have no idea what the Brewers nor Hoskins are thinking, what's your number? I believe that someone is going to blink and give Hoskins way more than 2/36, whether in years, dollars, or both.
  14. I think you fell victim to the same line of thinking that people had about Counsell. He's "our guy", he's different, a family guy, he loves Milwaukee, he has probably invested well and doesn't need the money. People used that thinking to imagine Greinke would take a hometown discount because he loved Milwaukee. Nope. The main reason that Attanasio bought into the Brewers is because it was one of the franchises that he could afford. I imagine he would have rather bought the Dodgers. He did it to help grow his net worth so he could do more things, such as invest in soccer and the PGA tour. The point is, none of them are really different. Selig's investment of $10 million was rewarded handsomely with a $223 million sale. Don't underestimate the primary desire of rich people to get richer.
  15. I still think so many here are being impatient with Turang. I am hopeful for improvement at the plate, and still love that glove. That said, I would be okay with either or both of Chourio and Black becoming the next Corbin Carroll or Steven Kwan. Just pop a couple of 5 WAR seasons out as rookies. Turang could hit .125 if that happened.
  16. Your list of moves made by division rivals is underwhelming at best. The fact that you list the Cubs “reportedly pursuing” two players as an offseason move after striking out on Ohtani shows you are fretting for the sake of fretting. Rea and Miley are as impactful as the Cards moves, so a push in my mind. Pirates? Please. If the Brewers had signed Tellez, you probably wouldn’t be happy. Reds have done a nice job, to be sure. But the reason I worry about Cincinnati is all the young guys they have developed, not the free agents they signed. The only thing the Brewers did really wrong was allowing Woodruff to get injured. They shouldn’t have done that. Bad strategery. i hope for a good corner bat, but let’s get to Spring Training and see how they look.
  17. He was referring to a player who belonged to the same fraternity he belonged to in college. Those announcers were annoying af.
  18. I know the Badgers have a good bowl record, but since the FSU blowout (42-13) in 2008, their losses have been heartbreakingly close. Yesterday, the 2020 Rose Bowl (28-27), 2013 Rose Bowl (20-14), 2012 Rose Bowl (45-38), 2011 Rose Bowl (21-19), just a play or two away.
  19. The Dodgers have committed $1.2 billion to a 2024 DH with major surgery history, a pitcher with no MLB experience, and a starter who has averaged 12 starts a year for the last six seasons. Add in Betts and Freeman, and their commitments to five players is greater than Forbes estimated value of the Brewers franchise. On one hand, it will be nice to focus my hatred on another franchise and hope they fail spectacularly. On the other hand, it just sucks.
  20. I picked a bad day to not log onto Brewerfan. Just caught up on all of this. I am not freaking out, but I sure felt like Houser was a good floor for the pitching staff. 5 innings, 3 ER is not bad. I think back to the discussions at the beginning of this season about what were were going to do with all the starters we had, and then we needed 33 starts from Rea and Teheran. I wouldn't give up starting pitching that is a known commodity at the ML level ever. Okay, maybe not ever, but you'd have to wow me. Oh well. Hope I am wrong.
  21. "You have to choose the tip amount before you tap your card, sir." I worked a lot of years as a waiter and bartender. The number of times we are asked to tip these days is excessive, but being asked to tip BEFORE YOU GET YOUR SERVICE, WHICH IS THE POINT OF TIPS, is making me nuts.
  22. I know we need a catcher. I was just making a joke that three was too many.
  23. wow. That's really bad, isn't it? I'm not always the best at interpreting tweets.
  24. Why did you want three backup catchers?
