    Good work finding a picture of Garrett Mitchell on the field. Those are rare.

    Brewers-Cubs are 5-5 on the season. If the Brewers were up by three games, they would only need one of the three to win the division. Same if they were up 2. Only a Cubs' sweep is a problem. The problem begins if they were up one game. Then it becomes winner-take-all in the three-game set. Unless I am not understanding you, which is very possible. Or if your scenario is assuming a Cubs sweep. I have tickets for 9/30. I would be really happy if it were decided by then. I do have a cardiac history.

    Clever of the Brewers. By trading for Chafin, he’s not available for the Dbacks tonight.

    Of course, the Brewers need to play better, but the Cubs are 34-16 since the ASB. In 2022, STL finished the year 42-22. In 2021, the Cards had that 17-game winning streak in September. That's just ridiculous, and it's happened three years in a row. When your opponents are winning at a .660+ clip, you can play well and still get left in the dust.

    As someone who wanted Candelario, I was very critical initially. Each harmless Canha popup in the first few games was frustrating. I am thrilled that Canha and Santana have come on, but there is no doubt that Candelario would have been a good add as well. I cheer for the Brewers. I want all of them to succeed. For example, I pull for Adames to come up big, even though I suspect he will flail away at a cutter out of the strike zone, as he often does. And I will be frustrated with him when he does that. I just have to say, It's almost like you cannot judge trade deadline activity after one month...

    Minor pushback on the "2nd weakest division". The NLC is one of three MLB divisions with a winning record overall. The National League is 30 games over .500 against the AL, which I think has to be taken into account. Some of those AL records are being bolstered by some of the god-awful teams over there. And before you bring up the Oakland series, I saw it. But there has to be some weight given to the body of work over a season by teams, divisions, and leagues. The two East divisions pass the record test and the eye test, but after that? The NL West has the Dodgers and...? So, while I am not saying that the NLC is a gauntlet, I think that perceptions at the beginning of the year that it was a weak division are still coloring the view of it now. And the Cubs sure are giving me echoes of the 19 Nats and 21 Braves right now. If you want to ban me for that kind of devil talk, I will completely understand.

    Pederson loses a ball in the wind, Gomes with an infield single, Giants 3B throws the ball away on a contact play, and the Cubs score six, but sure, the Brewers are lucky.

    And if Hiura was up and was getting the equivalent playing time that Andrews was, you wouldn’t be happy with that, either.

    Couldn’t agree more. I would think that since he’s NOT a heralded prospect the fans would appreciate him more. I sure am happy he’s here.

    An MLB article on how the trade deadline affected 10 teams did not mention the Brewers (while mentioning STL and citing the Yankees for doing nothing), which was weird. I did notice this blurb on the Mariners: General manager Jerry Dipoto was uncharacteristically quiet during trade season, sending Trevor Gott and Chris Flexen to the Mets and Paul Sewald to the D-backs. Trading your closer away isn’t typically a vote of confidence for the rest of the team, but Seattle -- which was 55-51, five games out in the AL West and 3 1/2 back in the Wild Card race -- has been one of the hottest teams in baseball during the past month. The Mariners’ 21-6 record in August thrust them into the AL West and Wild Card races, as the offense has come alive and Andrés Muñoz has excelled since taking over the closer role. Surprised Seattle's season wasn't ruined after the trade of their closer.
