  1. Weird things happen when Gamel makes contact. His hits have eaten souls so far this series.
  2. Why isn't Rendon batting 2nd? Got the outer edge by 3 inches tonight boys.
  3. Lutz is hitting .308 in his last 10 games. Still K'ing a bunch and only 1 HR but baby steps.
  4. If he doesn't start hitting by June he should play 2B for San Antonio. You can't play anywhere in the majors hitting 200. People would consider taking Arcia out of the lineup if he was sub 200.
  5. Shaw has 2 options. He also is in his 5th year but has only played 3 full seasons and about 80 games. Does that mean we can option him still?
  6. Nice. If he still bats Houser in the 9 spot I hope he gets more than 1 inning if the 1 goes fairly smooth. If the plan is 1 inning and 1 inning only, maybe slot him in the 4 spot and PH for him if we get a baserunner in the bottom of the 1st? I'm typing my thoughts out loud here (but this is the game thread so that's okay, no?) If Ender or anybody else has actually researched how this could/should be done I'd be happy to be corrected. It seems like there should be an optimal spot to bat the pitcher in the NL when one uses an "opener" and I'm not sure if that is the 9 spot. Not sure you'd want to burn a bench bat that quickly though. 8th with 2 innings from Houser, then Wooddruff to PH saves the bench early. I'd bump him up 1 spot so that only 2 need to reach by the bottom of the 2nd.
  7. I fully expect him to bring another 800 ops bat to this lineup. Cain is usually close Yelich well above Grandal is above Moose is above Thames is above but Aguilar has been dragging that position down Braun Gamel is close Hiura would make 7 Leaving Arcia and the Pitcher who don't count. Problem is that we are maxed on this roster right now. Thames Gamel are in platoons. Pina Perez are needed depth. Aguilar can't be the guy to go. You don't want to sell low on Shaw. 13 pitchers is the norm for this team. Its a depth mess which is why its time for a fake injury. I just looked and it says Shaw has 2 options left. He is in his 5th year but I think he technically has less than 4 full years of service. hmmmmmmmmmmm
  8. A month or 2 seems excessive. Send him to Cabo San Lucas this weekend with his family and a gigantic Travis Shaw highlight reel, and tell his wife to make him wake up every day and watch it for a half hour over breakfast. Go sit on the beach and do whatever he wants to do until bedtime. Then make him watch it again until he falls asleep. Repeat for a couple days. Go to San Antonio and OPS 1.500 for a week or two then come back to MKE. The reason behind the long leave is that I don't see a way to fit Hiura on the MLB roster right now without selling LOW on Shaw. I'd rather shut Braun down for the year and play Perez as the 4th OF and backup SS than do that. There are a lot of odd roster mgmt ideas that I'd rather do than sell low on Shaw. Hiura has simply been silly for 16 games. His K rate hit the floor. His BBs are ahead of his Ks. His Hrs aren't far behind. He's a gap mashing machine right now. The biggest problem with Shaw at this point aside from the fact that he can't hit, is that Moose can play 3rd and Erceg is getting close. This version of Shaw, Erceg can outproduce.
  9. Who has a higher trade value right now, Hiura or Travis Shaw? Obvious answer but the way this team is constructed, Hiura is incredibly essential. They have Grandal, Moose and Thames on a 1 year deal. Those 3 have been a huge lifting force for our offense. You need Hiura to replace Moose next year. This team also desperately need RHH right now because that's leaning heavily on an old Braun and a questionable Aguilar. This team doesn't have 1 shot at this. They have a shot as long as Yelich is controlled. Hiura could be a big part of that run. Honestly, I'm at the point where I want Shaw to come down with a fake injury and take a month or 2 off to go spend time with his family. Keep yourself in shape and just clear your head. Hiura has 9bb 8k and 7hr in his last 16 games. 19h and 13 are xbh.
  10. The range of outcomes for this pitching staff is extremely wide. A lot of volatility has come from Burnes, Peralta, Barnes, and Wilson. Starting the kids not only didn't go well but also exposed the bottom rungs of the pen. The way its structured now, its a lot smoother. Woodruff should have some bumps in the road here and there but its not 3 guys on a moguls run. Jeffress looked the best he has all year. Hader is a monster. Guerra has been fantastic. (by most accounts) Getting Burnes into the pen will hopefully settle him down. Claudio Albers have been fine. It's getting pretty deep. Having Davies Gio Chacin Anderson rolling out solid sub 4 era starts is going to do this team a world of good. You don't need aces. You do need starters who keep the other team in check.
  11. May 9th 2018 Brewers record 21-16 May 6th 2019 Brewers record 21-16 In 2018 the next 18 games was a 14-4 run. Honestly, when you look at how this pitching staff seems to be stabilizing, I could see it. Tomorrow is a big one though. This turn without Anderson would be a nice one to steal.
  12. BA and Slg at Yelich's level and the BBs are adding up lately. Yeah in his last 13 games he has 9bb 8k and 6hr
  13. MKE has scored 5 runs tonight and Gamel has been a direct part of 4 of them.
  14. Hader please. He gets tomorrow off. Guerra getting loose though. I'm good with that.
  15. ERA not the best reliever stat. It’s not like he was terrible, just seemed any big situation where we brought him in just to face a lefty it never worked. FIP 4.09. He was meant to be a guy. Like Alex Wilson and unlike Wilson he was capable of being just a guy. It's kinda like watching 5 people pile on Jared Hughes. Don't really get it.
  16. 64.1 IP 3.22 ERA for us last year. Lay off Jennings, its not like he's Oliver Drake.
  17. I have a feeling the future first ballot hall of fame pitcher on the mound might have had a say. Those are some strong words about Dan Jennings
  18. Not sure I want to dive in after pitch 1 when the guys over 100 pitches and dangerously evading walks.
