  1. I just posted this in the Cubs Series thread...I have never heard this type of thing before. What is that? The only thing worse than Illinois-based Cubs fans are Wisconsin-based Cubs fans.
  2. I guess I would have started Villar at 2B and Perez at SS, but whatever. Maybe today is the day "Good Orlando" shows up?
  3. Bring up Nick Ramirez and he can play 1st and pitch out of the pen. Why is Ramirez not up to AAA? I thought maybe AA is short of pen arms, but I don't see that to be the case. I know you need to save room for the guys that you can treat like a rented mule (Dillard, Zagurski), but it would seem you could find room for him. Unless Ramirez has been playing so long for Biloxi that he is the mayor now, he has been there four straight years now. Could be that the organization doesn't figure Ramirez's stuff would work well in Colorado. We've seen plenty of pitchers get knocked around there.
  4. Arcia is 23-year-old Gold Glove caliber SS who just last year hit nearly .280, and was a top 20 MLB prospect. But he has no value ...
  5. markedman5 said: Tough thing for this game is no Hader for rest of this series......Corey probably can't pitch tomorrow....and now have to use JJ too.... Good thing Chase is gonna give us a strong 8 tomorrow From last night's game thread, after the Cubs tied it on Hader. I was off by an inning, but still shoulda played the lottery
  6. Domingo Santana has turned into a joke at this point. Absolutely no clue whatsoever at the plate. At least Arcia plays defense.
  7. I remember suggesting it back at the end of April, and was basically told the idea was nuts and it wouldn't happen. Well, other than a week in mid-May, Domingo has sucked.
  8. It's the middle of June. We shouldn't have to worry about pitch counts anymore. I'm not saying let him toss 140, but I think 120 is certainly fine.
  9. This is probably Anderson's last inning. And that really sucks. It's gotta be really irking Counsell that he has a pitcher approaching 100 pitches.
  10. I wonder if they will consider giving Houser a spot start? He's been pitching well in Colorado Springs, and getting stretched out again as a starter. I would imagine he could give them 5 innings/80 pitches, which seems to be about the norm Counsell is looking for out of the starters.
  11. Exactly ... they aren't going to add another crap #3-4 starter like Ross or Straily because it's redundant. If they needed that, they'd just hand the ball to Woodruff or Burnes or any other of 4-5 guys they have in the system. No, if they make a move for a starting pitcher, it's going to be someone big. And it's going to cost a lot.
  12. If he's that sensitive, I don't want him anywhere near the majors. Orf has one tool - a decent single hitter. He is average to below average in every other facet of the game. Granted, hitting for average is important, but unless he can hit for a very high average in a hitter's paradise at AAA, he isn't going to see the majors. He's basically a AAAA guy at this point, but is also the type that would eventually end up with the Cardinals, and proceed to hit .315 out of their #2 hole for the next 5 years.
  13. LOL what? Seriously, I don't understand any of this.
  14. Not in the least. That was the most legit catcher's indifference call in history. Cubs might as well have not even known he was on base.
  15. Against this team, that hasn't been a good thing. Enough of the defeatest attitude. Yeah, it sucks they lost. Tomorrow is a new day. Sorry for trying to stay optimistic
  16. Well, that was a gut punch. Good thing they play another one tomorrow.
  17. Well, now at least it's the right spot to use Logan. #silverlinings
  18. I mean, ffs, not every throw from deep in the outfield is going to have Olympic archer-like accuracy. It was a throw that was perfectly in line with the base, bouncing right before Villar. It was a good othrow. It was a tough hop on the throw, but I think most any baseball fan would agree that it is a play the 2B has to make. But plays like that aren't made every day. It's baseball. It sucked, but at least the damage was kept to a minimum. Let's drop it and go win this one now.
  19. Well, just imagine the vitriol if it were Sogard dropping the throw ...
  20. Hader looking very average this inning. Of course it's against the Cubs.
