  1. That was a lot of words to make a point that I'm not sure needed to be made. Tellez is not a superstar, but he's far from the top of this team's problems. He's a solid defensive 1B, and is one of the few bats that opposing teams need to take note of. Even if this team acquires a bat like Josh Bell or Mancini, it is likely that Tellez will continue to see regular at bats.

  3. Big difference between expressing frustration over a game or even a stretch of games, which is totally and completely justifiable, and making absolute-type statements that doom this team's playoff chances. On July 6. The latter is moreso where my comment was directed.
  4. Absolutely no one is saying the offense is just fine. What posters are disagreeing with is the assertion that the offense is a lost-cause dumpster fire, and that the team has no hope of doing anything in the playoffs. Those are two very different ideas.

  6. You are attempting to bring logic to a "sky is falling" rhetoric fight. It's a battle lost before it's even begun.
  7. I'm not sure I'm following your train of thought here? Did you post that hoping to elicit the response that it did? If so, that's kinda trolly.
  8. Should it be automatically assumed that a leadoff double is going to automatically come around to score when the reigning Cy Young winner is on the mound facing a poor offense with a getaway day lineup?
  9. I get that the negativity is sort of your schtick, but are you hallucinating opposing team runs now?
  10. July 6 may be a new record for the first "the sky has fallen" post of the year.
  11. Probably Laureano. More upside. Taylor is having a good year, but has never really done a whole lot in his career otherwise.
  12. It will certainly be an interesting case study. Regardless, I get the feeling that when he is ultimately dealt, my first reaction when seeing the return is going to be "that's it?"
  13. I don't know about that. I think you'll be surprised when Bell is ultimately traded with how little actually comes back to the Nats. While there is certainly value there, it is mitigated by the fact that he's rental bat that provides no defensive value.
  14. He had some solid showings before Lopez came back, but was pretty much relegated to mop-up duty after that.
  15. All I'd like is an explanation, or at least an acknowledgement that it does, in fact, bother other posters.
  16. I'm not sure that running your current team into the ground before jumping ship is a solid career move.
  17. That is under the assumption that the Cardinals specifically (as the OP named them) are after the same trade pieces that the Brewers are. Now there might be a little need overlap between the two teams, but I'm not sure if this is necessarily a case of each team targeting the same specific names. Most of the media out there lists SS and starting pitching as the Cardinals two biggest needs, and while the Brewers have suffered some injuries in the rotation, I don't know if I would consider either of those spots huge upgrade needs for the Brewers.
  18. And what decisions exactly has this team made over the last 15 or so years that make you think that this scenario has even a 1% chance of playing out? Come on.
  19. There's no need whatsoever to "act first". What would be the point of that? The Cardinals will likely make moves. So will the Brewers. Whichever team makes a move first is utterly inconsequential.
  20. Is the trade deadline a race now?
