  1. Today's lineup: 2B Urías LF Yelich SS Adames 1B Tellez RF Renfroe C Narváez CF Taylor 3B Peterson DH Hiura Swapping Yelich and Adames makes sense considering the power binge Adames is on. Fun to see Rowdy in the clean-up role. I kinda figured they'd rest a bunch of the regulars today, but only Wong, Cain and Cutch are getting breathers.
  2. That was an era when spoilers didn't really exist. I hadn't been born yet when Empire came out, but I remember watching the movies for the first time when I was 10 (roughly 10 years after Empire was released), and being completely blown away by that moment. Like mouth agape speechless.
  3. I paid nearly $100/month for DirecTV Steam from April through October last year to watch the Brewers. I'll gladly fork over $20/month to watch them via the Bally's app. The difference in price between this and huge streaming services like Hulu or Apple TV is explained by the cost of producing live sports, coupled with the fraction of the interest the channel is going to garner compared to the huge streamers.
  4. Very good point. I guess I tend to sometimes conveniently forget some of the weirdness that 2020 brought.
  5. What is Shook's deal in your guys' opinion? Is this simply a case of an advanced college arm dominating younger and less experienced competition, or is it possible the Brewers unearthed an undrafted FA gem? What does he throw, and is anything overpowering?
  6. He was drafted as a 3B. I don't know if there are any left-handed 3B out there.
  7. I don't know if teams draft for schematic fits as much as they simply have athletic and size thresholds for what they typically look for in particular positions. The Packers, for example, like their perimeter WRs to be at least 6'2" and 200 pounds. Toure comes close, but is a bit undersized. Watson and Doubs fit that profile, though. They don't like their O-linemen to be overly tall or heavy. Ron Wolf's CB size requirements after whiffing on Terrell Buckley were well known, and the Packers have rarely gone away from that since, except on Jaire. Yeah, the size and athletic thresholds do tie into the scheme, but I have never thought that the Packers drafted 100% based on fitting players into their scheme. Players can learn different schemes, but you cannot create athletic ability or make a player grow out of thin air.
  8. I agree. Lindblom probably isn't a terrible arm to keep around, though, as long as they are paying him anyway. He would likely perform better in a long relief or spot starter role at the MLB level than say say someone like Jordan Zimmermann or Colin Rea or Zach Godley did in 2021.
  9. Unless I missed something, their are only currently 38 players on the 40-man roster, and that includes Justin Topa, who could easily be moved to the 60-day IL.
  10. CHC 1 0-1 CIN 3 3-0 ATL 3 2-1 CIN 3 3-0 MIA 3 2-1 ATL 3 1-2 WSH 3 2-1 SD 3 2-1 STL4 3-1 CHC 2 2-0 20-8. Pitching continues to dominate, while the bats wake up with the weather warming up.
  11. When the Brewers play well, those posters tend to go MIA. And because this is the Optimism Thread, that means we definitely won't be seeing much of them on the board this season
  12. He was an extremely valuable utility player on last year's 95-win team, but yeah, let's dump him based on a rough 44 ABs to begin the year. Sheesh. I sure am glad Stearns and Arnold run this team. Yes, it is totally possible that Peterson played over his head last year, and the current version of him is what he truly is. The guy has basically been a AAAA player his whole career for a reason, right? But I'm not so sure that 44 sportadic ABs is enough of a cross section to base getting rid of the guy on.
  13. He just made a start over the weekend against a lefty pitcher. If anything they are giving him more consistent playing time than they did at the beginning of the season.
  14. Bucks have been simply dominant since Middleton went out. I think they feel like they are on a mission.
  15. Into the Cubs pen now. That has worked out OK the last couple days,
  16. Three wideouts, all with a good chance to make the final roster. All bring a varied skill set, but check most of the boxes the Packers look for in their perimeter wideouts.
  17. WRs Justyn Ross and Kevin Austin Jr. are still sitting out there. Can't believe both have lasted this long. Ross's talent level and measureables aren't very far removed from someone like Drake London, and Austin has good size and legit deep speed. If the Packers want to grab one and add more competition at that position, I would think either would stand a solid shot at making thhe team.
  18. Rasheed Walker. Seems like a really nice value pick at this point in the draft.
  19. He's a free agent. Can't imagine he's back now with the two they have drafted this weekend.
  20. Fore sure. They are going to need space eaters to keep blockers off of Campbell and Walker. Have some major beef up front now with Clark, Reed, Lowry, Wyatt, Slaton and now Ford.
  21. BIIIGGGG body though. 6'5", 333 is HUGE! He's bigger than TJ Slaton, and Slaton is a mammoth man.
  22. Reminds me of Oren Burks. Except this guy wasn't a 3rd rounder.
