  1. Yesterday was bad, no getting around it. However it was a road loss to a tough division rival that has an absolute monster of a WR. While Cousins takes some flack he's an above average QB that is capable of leading that team to a win against any team in the league. The defense played better in the 2nd half, I'm not sure if that's due to the Vikings shifting to a more conservative strategy because of their lead or not but the Packers had their chances to get back into the game. The offense just wasn't able to find any consistency. Way too early to hit the panic button.
  2. I'll take irrelevant gripes from three seasons ago for 200 Alex.
  3. I feel like small ball is quite dead already. As others have said hitters haven't budged much on pull tendencies either. Weirdly, if base stealing becomes more attractive with better odds of success due to the other rule changes maybe that helps resurrect small ball strategies a bit. Also, changing the rules to restrict defensive shifts now doesn't mean they won't revisit the issue at some point in the future. All the sports go through rules adjustments pretty regularly. In the end baseball is going to be just fine one way or another.
  4. My brother went to the Timber Rattlers game last night, said the game was only a little over 2 hours.
  5. I hate the shift so I'm thrilled this is happening but I also don't really feel like defenses are going to suffer as much as those that oppose the new rule seem to think. Maybe it's only the idea of any restriction in principle that most are against. Teams will still be able to place the SS or 2B almost right behind the base. Makes me wonder if we'll see defenses in motion as the pitch is delivered to move players where they'd prefer to place them before this restriction. It could make the game more interesting as teams plan strategies to probe how they might best optimize defensive placements. Or more likely it will simply be a watered down version of what they're doing now. I'm hoping for some crazy stuff though. I'm in favor of the pitching clock and larger bases as well. Base stealing might see a bit of a renaissance.
  6. I guess Za'Darius Smith is mad? https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/zadarius-smith-says-he-signed-with-vikings-so-he-could-play-packers-twice-a-year-i-was-treated-bad/ In an interview with Tyler Dunne of Go Long, Smith said he's very upset with how his tenure with Green Bay ended, and that he specifically signed with the Vikings so he can enact revenge on the Packers. "Walking past me not saying nothing. 'Z, how's your back doing?' -- there was none of that," Smith said (h/t Pro Football Talk). "As you can see, that adds on to why I'm on the other side. So, I can go back. I get to go back two times a year. ... I put my back on the f---ing line. I put everything. And that year three, I was treated bad. That's why I'm here now. So, I can play them twice a year." I don't really get it. He was hurt the whole year, got paid and was activated for the playoffs. I believe he likely would have been a cap casualty this season even if he had not been injured and played all of last season. Is he clinging to this for motivation? He hasn't shared much in the way of being slighted other than I guess guys weren't checking in on him to see how his day was. I'm not ready to turn on him as a human and player just because he's in Minnesota. I still like and respect him for what he brought to the team his first two seasons in G.B. I hate to burst his bubble but we've been through that already when it meant a whole lot more, him saying he wants revenge doesn't really produce any animosity from me, I just am not too concerned about the Vikings and especially not that concerned about Za'Darius lining up against our offense.
  7. I don't have control over the lineups or pitching decisions. I can be as angry as I want, and it's not like I haven't been angry because of course I have, but at the end of the day my anger doesn't matter. Fans speak with their money by spending it or withholding from spending it. So in that respect sure, some answers are "deserved" but it's not like Sophia asking questions is the same as if Counsell was under oath in front of a grand jury. He's going to answer how ever he feels like it and two games from now (and likely less) nobody is going to still be dwelling on it.
  8. I think the fallacy is that fans believe they deserve answers to hard questions. But maybe that's just me. It's a game. It's entertainment. And for the most part answers are given and yes fans are expected to read between the lines. Sure if there is some larger, real world information along the lines of a Daniel Snyder fiasco then yes, that's absolutely something that demands answers.
  9. Logically you would have to evaluate literally every other position on the roster before coming to the conclusion Rowdy is the immediate player to replace with a high priced player. I'd probably try to upgrade 3B, CF, 2B, C & SS first. I just don't think 1B is a position where you should be spending big money unless you have a surefire Hall of Famer already on your team.
  10. I think a big reason they've kept Yelich from playing CF is to reduce wear and tear and keep him as healthy as possible. CF is probably the most physically demanding OF position.
  11. Nah, he's a first class uber jag that pearl clutched because he didn't like the 2008 Brewers post game celebration of untucking their jerseys after a win. After the game was over. Not in the middle of the 5th inning, but after, when one team leaves the field and the other one stays out there for a few minutes extra. Fun police aren't very fun. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/217674-the-prince-of-power-fielder-untucksem-in-st-louis Pujols recently said the following about the Brewers post-win ritual: "I see teams take their jerseys out when the game is over. To me, that's not professional. I don't care what you do when you get off the field, but don't do it on the field. You don't want kids to see negative things." Those poor kids. I hope they're not scarred for life. Edit: Now that I think about it maybe you were being a bit tongue in cheek. I've just been nursing my disdain for many years lol.
  12. Hahahahaha.... >wheeze< Hahahahahaaaaaa nope
  13. I'm looking for clues but you neglected to tell us which sure fire manager hire will take us to the promised land.
  14. One of the most unpopular preseason roster cuts in recent memory was Taysom Hill and over the last 5 years he's been pretty gimmicky in his usage. In the end I think he went to the right team, I doubt the Packers would have used him the way the Saints have. Interested how he'll do as a TE this season. I understand this is a message board where opinions are what flavors the soup but as long as the Packers are trotting out highly competitive teams I really don't get too emotionally invested about preseason roster cuts. It's all bottom of the roster stuff, which is still important, but more times than not they find a way to keep talented guys around on the practice squad anyway. I was glad they kept Toure around but even if they hadn't and some other team got him I'd forget about him pretty quickly.
  15. Yeah that whatcha-call-it cheap tile ceiling screams old place, it makes me think of a golf course country club bar area for some reason. I don't have a clue what this place is though.
  16. Yeah, this is one of those "9 out of 10 (insert demographic) agree" moments. Someone has to be the one outlier. Someone should put up a message at the next game saying,: "Looking for new friend that enjoys Brewers games, long walks on the beach and possible true love. - Mark"
  17. Maybe so but I don't think that many players have been on the team long enough for things to be stagnant. The roster gets turned over with additions and subtractions pretty often in Milwaukee. Who's the longest tenured Brewer, Suter? Maybe a handful of other guys that came after him? The coaching staff has seen a good amount of turnover as well.
  18. I should have said, "Unless one has intimate knowledge..." I wasn't trying to imply you knew anything deeper than the rest of us. Your point has merit but I think the reason birthday or anniversary messages are common is because not many people would even think to plan (much less pay for) a gotcha message that will appear for a few seconds at a live sports event. Birthdays and anniversaries are pretty much the default.
  19. Respectfully, I think you're overreacting. Unless you have intimate knowledge of the persons involved there's no way to know for certain the true context of the message. I can think of a handful of benign reasons someone would take the opportunity to put that up. I feel like it's much more likely to be a joke and the reactions to it are what was intended. Even if it can be taken at face value nobody would know which guy there was the Mark it was aimed at.
  20. C'mon, everybody knows it's the hitting coach(es) that make the biggest impact on team success.
  21. Don't you get it? We need Love to suck so Gute has to admit to the world he wasted a draft pick 3 years ago. Why is something that happened in 2020 so important here and now in 2022? I can't really explain it in a way that makes any sense but obviously it is. Never mind that even Aaron Rodgers can have a less than great game like in the playoffs last year, what's definitively important is to be ultra critical of the backup QB. Aren't you a real fan??
  22. Coherence (2013) It's kind of like a Twilight Zone story, a tight, 90 minute, mind bender with an 8 person cast and nearly zero special effects. The setting of the movie is entirely contained in and around one house and a dinner party among longtime friends, on a night that a rare comet is passing close to Earth. It was really good, there came a moment perhaps in the first 30 minutes where I thought I had figured it out. Nope. I was kind of on the right track but also not really. It's free on Amazon Prime right now.
  23. Any good examples? Edit: For clarity I assumed you meant some silly baseball etiquette garbage, not the actual P of the PC variety..
  24. The thing on Love is he just needs as many live action reps as he can get and against defenses that aren't what he sees every day in practice. Growth comes from being challenged. Right now Love isn't my choice to eventually replace Rodgers as the future starter. That said I want him to be a capable backup (and it looks like he could be) and maybe show enough ability to bring something back in a trade. I think holding grudges because of something that happened in 2020 or rooting for his failure (i.e. being hyper focused on the negative) is kinda messed up. The source of that hate is 3 years old now, the past is the past, maybe it's time to bring a mindset that is focused on 2022 and beyond.
  25. He doesn't have a save for them yet, I think the game you're thinking of he got the win rather than a save because he entered the game when it was tied.
