  1. I guess the only thing I'd say is we have to be careful when looking at counting stat rankings within a particular league, given that so many players get promoted in-season. That being said, clearly Ray has been very good in multiple ways. Good point. He does have the second most games played and the most ABs. Gotta suspect a call-up should be happening sometime soon. Or maybe they go with the route Erceg took last year and call him up to AAA for the playoffs.
  2. I have been really impressed with what Corey Ray has been able to do this year. This is the guy the Brewers thought they were getting with the #5 pick in the draft. Let's take a look at where he ranks in the Southern League - a notoriously difficult hitters league: Doubles - 25 (1st) Triples - 6 (3rd) Home Runs - 18 (1st) Walks - 48 (5th) Stolen Bases - 30 (1st) SLG - .500 (2nd) OPS - .849 (3rd) A lot of people on these boards are talking about packaging him in a trade but I don't think that will happen. I think Stearns realizes what a dynamic player he is and the impact he could have if he continues his trajectory.
  3. Only took 5 straight hits for CC to warm up a pitcher...WHAT WAS HE WAITING FOR??
  4. Dozier at 2B would be pretty huge. Hopefully we can get some internal improvement with Arcia and Santana figuring it out in AAA. Healthy Braun would be nice for a change. You realize Dozier is hitting .230 this year and has the same WAR as Villar right? If he’s going to be huge he needs to figure it out at the plate. Its pretty well known he is a second half player. Look at his July...
  5. Nah. Strikeout then groundout. Prolong the pain Okay...you dont send Pina but you send Miley?
  6. It's not like Miley has the greatest command so maybe its not intentional
  7. Pina, Broxton, Miley...I'll start putting the dishes away in this half inning.
  8. This umpire is awful. I'd put money on CC getting ejected before this game is through.
  9. Yeah, but how many holes can we realistically fill? Dozier at 2B would be pretty huge. Hopefully we can get some internal improvement with Arcia and Santana figuring it out in AAA. Healthy Braun would be nice for a change.
  10. Dodgers showing what happens when you put the ball in play...take notes Brewers.
  11. Yeah but when Braun and Thames come off the DL our MLB/AAA situation will look like this: Cain Yelich Braun Thames Phillips Broxton Taylor Santana Berry Liriano Shaffer Could just be a depth move, but I like to think its because we are trading someone because I over-analyze everything.
  12. With both Broxton and Phillips up they only have 3 OFers on the roster down at AAA. Could really just be a depth move. They will have to trade Brett Phillips at the deadline or this winter if they would like to maximize his value though on the trade market. But with Braun and Thames coming off the DL that is two more OFs. Their MLB/AAA OF depth would look like this after Braun/Thames get reinstated: Cain Yelich Braun Thames Broxton Phillips Santana Taylor Berry Liriano Shaffer
  13. Brewers signed two AAA outfielders today - Richie Shaffer and Rymer Liriano (he's back!) Not sure why they would sign two more OFs with the glut we already have unless there were some moves on the way...
  14. Rymer is back! Also, seems a bit curious to add more outfielders. Gotta think something is in the works?
  15. The love affair everyone has with Archer boggles my mind.
  16. Not sure the Giants are selling but I like it.
  17. I think you are underestimating Dozier's value and the number of teams that would by vying for his services. I think it will cost much less than what Machado went for but I don't see a package like Phillips/Supak/(insert low level arm here) as out of the questions. Twins aren't in a rebuild so they will probably want something MLB ready or close to in return.
  18. Why does everyone assume Hiura is guaranteed success in the MLB? He is only in AA and has struggled recently. Yes, he was injured but he still needs time to hone his craft. He is the best bat we have had since Braun but he is only one year removed from college. Even Braun spent the first two years in the minors. I see Hiura in AAA to finish the year and possibly take a hold of the position next year, but to insert him into the MLB lineup right now would be detrimental to his development. Renting a Dozier works out perfectly...if the Twins are selling.
  19. Those are my thoughts as well. 7.5 back at the all-star game isn't a huge hole. Although, I have to believe that Cleveland will eventually pull away with that division.
  20. I disagree. According to Fangraphs we have the second worst WAR at the 2B position. The Twins have the second best and Dozier is a huge reason why.
