  1. dude cant throw strikes and we give up an out to get Broxton to the plate? uhhh...
  2. Also important to remember we have a lot of quality prospects that are eligible for the rule 5 draft this fall. We can't protect them all so it would be wise to try and get some major league value from these guys instead of having teams pluck them for no cost. Here is a list of players eligible (taken from a post in the minor league thread) COLORADO SPRINGS: RHP Tristan Archer RHP Bubba Derby RHP Christian Meister (recently-signed former Indians farmhand is technically on the Sky Sox DL, last pitched in affiliated ball in 2016) LHP Quintin-Torres-Costa BILOXI: IF Blake Allemand SS Luis Aviles, Jr. 1B Jake Gatewood RHP Nate Griep LHP Brad Kuntz C Carlos Leal (currently on restricted list) C Max McDowell LHP Kodi Medeiros RHP Jon Olczak RHP Jorge Ortega (would normally be a minor league free agent, but signed a deal through 2019 as he was rehabbing Tommy John) RHP Luis Ortiz RHP Jon Perrin RHP Cody Ponce RHP Dan Reynolds RHP Tyler Spurlin (currently on suspended/restricted list) OF Troy Stokes, Jr. RHP Trey Supak RHP Josh Uhen CAROLINA: RHP Phil Bickford RHP Nattino Diplan RHP Conor Harber RHP Alec Kenilvort LHP Nathan Kirby LHP Drake Owenby IF Tucker Neuhaus RHP Wuilder Rodriguez OF Joantgel Segovia RHP Devin Williams WISCONSIN: RHP Rodrigo Benoit RHP Jose Cuas OF Jay Feliciano RHP Nelson Hernandez RHP Carlos Herrera IF Gilbert Lara RHP Michael Petersen OF Nic Pierre HELENA / MARYVALE: RHP Jesus Brea RHP Yosmer Leal (60-day DL) RHP Carlos Luna
  3. Brewers have a top 10 starting rotation in the MLB. I wouldn't say its lacking.
  4. Probably wont be until after the ASG...he is the Orioles lone representative and the game is being playing an hour from Baltimore
  5. Do they Yankees really need offensive help? Why give up prospects for two months of Machado when there are more glaring needs for them? They are going to offer him a big contract in the off-season anyways. Don't pay twice for him. Let us have him.
  6. This was just tweeted from Bob Nightengale: "The Los Angeles #Dodgers, Milwaukee #Brewers and New York #Yankees have separated themselves from the pack of teams who have inquired about #Orioles All-Star shortstop Manny Machado, with no clear-cut favorite at the moment." So pretty much nothing new...
  7. Let's compare Escobar and Machado: Escobar .272/.328/.517 35 2Bs 14 HRs 54 RBIs 128 OPS+ 123 wRC+ -7 DRS Machado .314/.383/.573 21 2Bs 23 HRs 63 RBI 163 OPS+ 154 wRC+ -20 DRS Both Escobar and Machado would be pure rentals so this makes it easier to compare. It is quite obvious that Machado is a much better hitter but Escobar is having a great season as well. Both are below average fielders but Machado is pretty terrible at SS (I believe the worst in the league). Since defense is such a huge part of the Brewers success, is the difference between Machado and Escobar's offensive production worth the higher cost (prospects) and worse defense? Curious what you all think...
  8. Hypothetically... Would you all rather have Machado at a cost of say...Burnes, Broxton, and Meideros or Eduardo Escobar with a cost of Phillips, Houser, and Jorge Lopez Both are rentals...I know Machado is otherwordly this year but I was surprised to see the year Escobar is having. Is the difference between Machado and Escobar worth giving up a Corbin Burnes? I'm not sure...
  9. Gotta assume we could get by without offering Hiura if that is the case.
  10. Perused through a few pages and didn't see any topics about Blake Snell. All the talk seems to center around Chris Archer in a trade with the Rays but I think I would rather see Snell. I understand that it would take a king's ransom to part with a 25 year old with control through 2022, especially with the year he is having, but how would we all feel about this? Regardless of which pitcher Stearns would target, I think it would require Hiura and I don't see any possible way around it.
  11. Sad to see him go, I liked him. However, we need the middle INF depth and with Thames back Choi was expendable. Hope he does well in Tampa!
  12. Looks like Hader might go one more batter Nope...its Knebel. Thought they might let Hader face the lefty.
  13. wow...that was two strike 3's that were called balls...now they have their fastest player on first in a one-run game...c'mon blue!
  14. MACHADO Just kidding...but for real...I would much rather see Saladino in there until Arcia can figure it out. Saladino looks like a pretty slick fielder so I don't think Arcia's defensive value is that much better where he needs to stay in the lineup. I don't think this is a "let it ride" situation with Arcia either. If he were putting together solid at bats that would be a different story, but he looks completely lost up there. Swings at terrible pitches and never looks balanced...his feet are all over the place when he swings. Pretty frustrating to watch.
  15. I agree. Excited to see what Choi can do. He has done well through spring training, his 1 AB in San Diego, and in the minors so I'm glad they are giving him a shot. Cain Yelich Aguilar Shaw Santana Choi Pina Villar Arcia Looks like a solid lineup!
  16. Would ya look at that. Not sure why Corbin didn't pitch around him with the pitcher on deck but im not complaining
