  1. Wande Torres with 97 mph lefty sinkers…? Seems all over the place, but dang.
  2. They can’t frame the Durbin trade around the team being cheap. Its harder to rationalize them just being smarter than us.
  3. Any guys come to mind that were a bit more banged up last year than we’d have known? Maybe expecting more from this year with better health luck?
  4. So this year’s draft class would be the class of 2023 in high school. Our 2023 high school signees were: Josh Knoth Eric Bitonti Cooper Pratt Bishop Letson Bjorn Johnson Hayden Robinson Josh Adamczewski Our first real big high school class in the rounds 11-20 era. Will be cool to see how they’d have stacked up with this 2026 college class (which everyone is calling one of the best in years).
  5. Brock Wilken wins the 3B job out of camp.
  6. I think promotions are going to be heavily influenced by 40-man, this year more than any other. Quero, Jett, Wilken, and Adams are going to be the only positional call ups this year. Quero is already on the 40, and the other three will have to be added after the season. No one else will even have a wiff of a 40-man spot due to the potential lockout. That will, however, set the stage for a potential 2027 AAA lineup made entirely of top 100 prospects…. C: Dinges 1B: Burke 2B: Made SS: Pratt 3B: Fischer LF: Adamczewski CF: Lara RF: Pena
  7. I’m all in on Wilken being a better MLB player than prospect. Too much bad luck, too much stop/start. If he plays all season last year, I think he’s no doubt our opening day 3B.
  8. What if the bullpen depth is created by bussing guys back and forth from AAA? Heck, could one of your piggy back tandems also move back and forth?
  9. I did look up this last draft class and I’m way less worried. First round will be maximum savings (like Fischer), but we saved only 250k on Ebel, and 150k on Cairone. Every other pick was by the book except for Flores in the 4th (about 125k over slot). So in the end last year we only really saved big on the first pick, and 250k on Ebel (Cairone and Flores cancel out-ish). We can probably still do some of our wild stuff in 11-20.
  10. Looks like we traded our Comp B pick with Durbin. Gonna be a weird draft based on us having roughly half the money we are used to. Do we go with all senior signs from the 4th round and on? Gonna be a whole new experience this year.
  11. Sure feels like Megill and Patrick are our next selling at their high point guys… We are clearly clearing out the infield for that wave of prospects coming up. 1B / DH: Adams, Wilken, Burke, Fischer 2B: Turang SS / 3B: Pratt, Jett, Made 3B: Wilken, Fischer Sign Turang to an extension, let him be the adult in the room.
  12. How do they go about rehab? In my head it’s a room of Knoth, Broughton, etc. all rehabbing together. Or do they do that independently, closer to home?
  13. More to you as someone with an ear to the wall. But now after re-reading the post, it seems to be strictly injury related questions.
  14. Is there anyone in the system that we’d be surprised at how giddy the front office is over them? Basically someone they’re calling their shot on? Sorry, I get antsy when this forum goes a day without a post.
  15. Juan Ortuno. The stats always look crazy, but he’s always hurt. He’s low enough in the minors, and on prospect lists, to get lost in the wash.
  16. Could even add today’s article about college programs not wanting high school pitching, the rush to add velo, etc. Everything just seems to line up with the Brewers new pitching philosophy (youth, low velo). Think Levonas would be throwing 100 for us this offseason? I don’t.
  17. Ho, hum. Just another day of top farm system in the league posts.
  18. Wonder if they are gonna supply housing for the players there? That’d be a pretty neat addition to the minors.
  19. With having Burke, Wilken, and Adams all kind of coming up together I wanted to look up potential platooning at first… Wilken and Adams were absolutely terrible against LHP last year as right handed hitters. Very weird. You’d think that’d be boosting their numbers rather than dragging them down.
  20. The Sproat write up is everything I’ve been thinking. Other teams are having these guys juice up their 4-seem (Priester), and we are gonna ditch that and make him strictly a sinker baller with a cutter instead of a slider.
  21. It’s probably nice he has a goal to shoot for after this. Can’t imagine I’d be as dedicated if I was just working towards sitting at a desk again.
  22. Theo Gillen of the Rays was drafted a pick after Braylon Payne (with Payne being a full year younger). Gillen comes in at #64 in BA's Top 100, and Payne doesn't get a single vote. Made me go back and see just what we were missing out on, and they had identical second halves of the season. Gillen: .257/.404/.327 with a 24/36 BB/K (113 ABs) Payne: .252/.379/.409 with a 24/41 BB/K (115 ABs) Lost in that is that Payne missed half the month of June and when get came back hit .383/.517/.638 in July (only one game without a hit, but 2 walks in that one). Went from 1 walk in all of June to a 13 BB / 10 K in July. Seemed like he figured it all out. Then he was hit in the back of the head on a double play on July 25th and knocked out for weeks. After that point he hit .152/.298/.261 in August (missing half the month) and .182/.217.227 in September (5 games). Really seemed like he was putting it together, only to have to torn apart. Wouldn't be surprised if those June adjustments into July was the Braylon we see this year.
  23. All this offseason stuff makes me feel like I’m taking crazy pills. MLB should be forcing teams to be more like the Brewers, not taking away the things that make them different.
  24. They’d get rid of the Midwest League before any warm weather place. Us building a new stadium in Carolina would imply they’d be sticking around. Though all these new rules seem intent on putting an end to what we do well, so we’ll see…. Wait til the expansion draft makes all players under 21 available.
