  1. Lyme disease. If anyone ever asks me what I DON'T like about Wisconsin I am reminded the insects are a huge negative. Ticks now move to #1 on my hate list ahead of deer flies and mosquitoes.
  2. Or c) Know the truth but lie about it to get people who don't more riled up about the whole thing
  3. It's likely cap related even if it isn't about this years cap, they will almost certainly be keeping someone less talented at the back of the DL pecking order this season. But he always seemed to have a couple of DPOY caliber games and then disappear for a month or so, at least as far as big plays. You can say that about a lot of players but that is what kept him below pro bowl level IMO. I am OK with it, we need a roster overhaul and with the FA splurge this offseason tough choices had to be made. Graham just seems more needed to me, other than the rookie we have nothing behind him and his bonus came before the draft. Probably should prepare for a rough start to the season but I am still optimistic.
  4. Stroman is solid but that is a lot for 1 year and 2 months of control of him. I would think Shaw and Stroman had similar value if you looked at them in the preseason, now we are going to give up him and 3 of our top 10 guys? Maybe the value is fair at this moment but for me it's too much risk for where we are right now, he helps with Woody being out but doesn't move the needle enough to talk WS and then we are low on prospect capital in an offseason in which we are now betting a lot on 2020. I also agree it's too soon to let Grisham go in a deal like this.
  5. I think any issues caused by using the same SSID is due to some clients devices(probably older stuff) having issues roaming between the 2, if everything is working great you should be fine. My opinion is setting them the same is always the way to go unless you have issues with it or have an administrative need to keep them separate.
  6. With a huge amount of luck. This was speculation before the MRI. Knowing Brewers pitchers, it will be career derailing. Council said 6 weeks, I don't know if that is lucky, sounds about average for a pitcher.
  7. Yeah maybe we will hear better news after the MRI but if he is out 6-8 weeks it as big of a minus as any one player we could have hoped to add. Hard to be major buyers when you just have a setback like that, he is a big reason we are even talking about still buying. But I don't see a selloff either, the last week means we are almost for sure still right in the thick of things at the deadline, add a second tier reliever or 2 and see what happens.
  8. From the Brewers Twitter account... .@B_Woody24 left today’s game with abdominal discomfort Well that's better than possibly twisting his knee while landing, I read the awkward landing thing on CBS rotowire. He was already getting up there on pitches and wasn't doing very well so hopefully just a let's call it day precaution.
  9. Seems like a huge game, our ace out there and Hader should be available. A 5-2 week looks a lot better than 4-3 when you are thinking about what to do at the deadline. Of course they have some lefty we haven't seen before but hopefully Hiura now makes our lineup a lot more balanced against southpaws.
  10. Looking at the trade value site if you remove Yelich,Hader,Woodruff, and Hiura to put together any kind of fair package for Thor the Brewers would have to include Arcia,Davies,or Cain. Sounds like they have SS covered and Cain and his contract aren't all that attractive unless the Mets are getting an early start on a run for next season. That leaves Davies as the most logical choice and also matches the Mets assistant GM or whoever scouting Thursday's game. Still seems super unlikely to me but since we have the reporting it's not all that crazy speculation.
  11. I don't think FIP likes contact pitchers like Davies very much but I sure won't get in a argument on advanced stats as I am not very well versed in what goes into them. It seems like runs allowed should matter for a pitcher but what do I know. Just checked bWAr and Davies is 2.5 Stroman 2.6, just saying I don't know why it's so dang clear who is better. It's not like Stroman is an elite K guy.
  12. FWIW Stroman has given up 49 runs in 110.2 IP, Davies 42 in 109.2. Poor guy is like Rodney Dangerfield around here.
  13. Why would they be scouting players on the 25 man roster - Only players that they would see, that could be moved and make sense is Arcia or Peralta, but they have rosario to play SS I can think of several, they COULD be looking at or at least guys I consider trade able off the current team..Arcia, Chacin, Aguilar/Thames, Peralta, Pina, Albers, Chase, and yes even Davies(IF the brewers target is Syndergaard). Then again, this report could be false, or they could be scouting Dbacks players. Who knows?? I mean I guess I could see the Mets wanting Davies on top of a prospect package for Thor, they have the same 2.5 years of control and Davies will be cheaper. It lets them sell it to the fans as getting both a quality MLB starter and prospects back. It's a bit harder to see that from the Brewers side as they don't gain a starter but Syndergaard is obviously an upgrade from Zach. I really don't see it though unless the Mets are really determined to move him now, do the Mets have someone else we are interested in that we would move MLB players for?
  14. About a week ago I posted that his season .252 BA and .860 OPS were nice but not all that great. Since that post he has barely made an out. Yeah I am taking credit. I doubt they trade him this season, his half season surge is still too small a sample for other teams to give us good value and we don't know yet how far he will ascend as a prospect. I would be pissed if they flipped him for a rental.
  15. I would have been OK with Clay coming back, he is still a good player although his ability to not get sacks last year was strange, maybe the early penalties got in his head. Still fine moving on, especially since we made the big FA splash and drafted an edge. No way I wanted Cobb back, just another guy for Rodgers to play favorites with and freeze out the young guys.
  16. Yeah if I am approaching a security line I am already thinking about what I have that might trip the detector, I sure don't want to be that guy holding the line up. I don't carry a gun but I don't see how that becomes something you forget about when I still remember keys and change in my pocket. If someone brings one up it is highly likely they are trying to sneak it past IMO. Unless they are already sloppy drunk but drunks with guns are probably a topic the mods don't want to talk about here so I will just assume that would never happen at Miller Park.
  17. That combination of walks and homers sounds like a ticking time bomb. But I am actually fine with making a play for him, getting someone who could help turn it around this year but more importantly starts us on our retool plan for next is just the sort for thing we should be looking at. Plus we know the team would love a lefty in the rotation. But I am not backing up our not so heavy prospect truck for guys like him, Stroman, or Boyd. I keep bringing up Davies whenever we discuss these starting pitching trades but it helps me to understand what we can expect when I compare him to a pitcher I know. Davies has 7.8 bWAR in 557.1 career innings, Ray has 9.2 in 727.1.
  18. According to the trade value site he has 22.9 million in value, so we are talking something like Lutz and Dubon by their measure. Like a lot of guys that are brought up in these trades I go look at the career stats and am not so impressed, only one really good season. Still seems like a good idea if he can be had as cheaply as Lutz/Dubon but I don't think he compares well to the value of 2 years of Greinke when we made that trade. Greinke was and actually still is a better pitcher.
  19. I am optimistic but a lot of that is just getting rid of MM, especially considering the articles describing ho dysfunctional things had gotten. I expect an improved defense but the offense will depend a lot on how the young receivers develop. You are probably right about 9-10 wins but the NFL sees teams swing up pretty fast and if Rodgers commits to the new system they have super bowl contender potential. I am certainly looking more forward to the season than I did last year.
  20. If they move Grandall/Moose and maybe others they could maybe add 4-5 prospects in the 5-15 range in their system. While not top end talent needed to land a tor starter it is at least more quantity to work with and with good development we could have a few top 100 prospects in the next year or so. I am not sure it will be enough to fix our rotation for next year but the money saved with selling could maybe help us land a FA to join Woody and Davies. It's not as bleak as it has been in the past, we still have hope for Perala/Burnes and then have Brown/Ashby maybe Rasmussen.
  21. LOL ... watch them go on a run now. I hope they go on a run one way or another. I'd rather win, but I don't want to stand pat either. I have been in that in between place since friday's loss. I would rather they go one way or another this week, I feel like this season may be a bust and I don't want them to waste a few prospects on relievers just to have us drop out by the end of August. I felt down a like this a few times last year but we were always still 10 games over .500 and at least were playing .500 ball in the couple of months before the deadlines. This feels different, I think we traded Greinke while still being somewhat alive for the playoffs, I have confidence Stearns will cut bait if he thinks it is a lost cause.
