    I would have let Davies swing away, an rbi ground out seems as likely as bunting a guy in from 3rd and there are a couple of other good things that could happen.

    Burnitz had a 38 homer .916 OPS season for the Rockies and only had 1.3 bWAR

    He has 15 homers before June 1 between AAA and MLB, I don't know how you send down a guy producing like that until he stops doing it. And keeping him up instead of playing the Super 2 game could be a nice gesture to get him to sign an early extension. He will probably have a slump eventually and they can send him down then.

    Braun isn't ready to be put out to full platoon pasture yet, he needs regular at bats and has been productive. Now Aguilar over Thames is another story but again probably felt Aggy needs to get AB's if he is going to break out of this.

    I think the not retaking the ACT thing was Herro, I don't think that is why he decommitted but I think that he didn't bother to qualify with signing day approaching tuned the UW staff into the fact that he was going to go elsewhere.

    Ray has little value as a prospect now. He has been terrible at all three of the high minor lgs.. A+ .238/.307/156 Ks -- AA .239/.323/176 Ks -- AAA .178/.259/49 Ks in only 101 ABs. He maybe a throw-in with other prospects, but certainly not the major part of the trade. As noted above Ray is ranked #88 overall at pipeline and that terrible year at AA last year somehow got him Southern League most outstanding player honors. It's been talked about here plenty that the hit tool is a concern but with his power and speed he only needs to be a .250 hitter to be a quality ML CF. I have no idea what MLB teams really think of his value but I doubt it is anywhere near as bleak as you make it sound.

    Well, again, despite the fact that Michigan is a GREAT school, they will take kids that UW won't even look at. But beyond that, the two schools you mention simply have more clout, more name recognition and have deeper pools of talent to draw from. They may not be "blue blood" programs, but they're a step below that and a few steps above UW. Marquette can also let a lot more guys into school than UW can. Dwayne Wade, for example, would never have been admitted into UW. I really don't know what the answer is, but I hope someone in Madison figures it out quickly. I don't see why Michigan and Maryland would be a few steps above UW in basketball. They have titles that I remember but Michigan's was about 30 years ago and they had a pretty long run of not making the tourney during the time that UW was going to 18 in a row. I knew admissions were an issue didn't realize how much until reading some of the last few posts, it is rumored to have been the reason they missed on Stone. It doesn't explain all the recent recruiting problems but that policy should change, even recruits who don't have an academic issue probably feel that it will mean less talent on the team and for sure a one and done wouldn't bother.

    2 outs, tied game, bottom of 10th, runner on 2nd. If Buckner keeps the ball in the infield the game doesn't end on that play. Even if he gets the out the game just moves to the 11th, so its not like that was the world series clinching out. That has always bugged me too, just like the Steve Bartman game it wasn't even a win or lose situation at the point it happened.

    I am sure Ray still has pretty good value. We have a small sample size bad start and a jammed finger that may have contributed, for a rental a lot of rebuilding teams would love to take a shot with his ceiling. Whether he fits for a trade with SF I don't know but like a lot of top Brewer prospects I would prefer they use him as part of a bigger trade with longer term value then flipping him for a couple of months of someone like MadBum. I just don't think he is as good anymore as some of the deadline rentals mentioned above, I guess it depends on needs and how close the team thinks they are for deals like this, as of today starting pitching doesn't seem like a critical need.

    That's why I throw all my junk and old appliances in the BACK yard. That is really crazy, since you just bought I am guessing you are getting spillover from poor maintenance from the previous owner. I don't know how they can take your stuff without notice but if they gave notice to the previous owner maybe your stuff just got thrown in with it. It can be tough to deal with big cities with that sort of stuff as it varies, Miami is a free for all where nothing is enforced, Minneapolis will tow your car if you leave it 5 seconds over the limit. The people you deal with are used to people trying to get out of stuff when they are guilty so people like you who got legitimately screwed get no hearing.

    I will just say this, if Gard doesn't land a good 2020 class he is a missed tourney this year away from getting canned or at least should be. The bounce recruiting got from the final 4's seems to have began and ended with the Davison/Reuvers/King class. Wisconsin is a big ten school with 20+ years of athletic success in their 2 top programs, I just don't understand why they are lagging so far behind programs like Michigan and Maryland or even Marquette in basketball recruiting. I complained about it with Ryan as well but it seemed like he brought in a lot of 3 star/borderline top 100 guys consistently. For me that is what is most concerning right now, such a long patch of misses. Hopefully Potter and Wahl come in and make all this sky is falling talk look stupid.

    I think I read it here but the Darth Vader theme music (The Imperial March) would be a good fit for Josh. I have heard it around other sporting events but don't know if a closer has used it.

    Ha! I thought about starting this thread last Sunday but decided it was too soon. He is 26, not a free agent until his age 32 season but buying out the 32 and 33 seasons doesn't look too bad right now.

    It's been almost 2 years since our last complete game and would be another confidence builder for a guy who is really breaking out as a star right now. I get not want to overwork him but they should have let him finish, a 1 hitter is still pretty cool.

    I think those Viking losses I mentioned above are right there with our 2 great debacles. Their kicker misses his first FG all year for a 15-1 juggernaut and then The Gunslinger pulls one last miraculous loss out of his ass in New Orleans(still LMAO). They have a had a few other painful losses as well, a missed chip shot FG a few years ago and then of course the last play loss in Arizona that led to our debacle against the Eagles. At least we have our SB's to ease our pain, those fans think they are cursed.

    We have been making the playoffs a lot, there are multiple heartbreaks(ask Saint and Chief fans) every year in the playoffs so you are going to have a few if you get there enough. Only the Philly and 2014 NFCC games really stick with me but I just remind myself of the Viking collapses against the Falcons and the Saints and it brings a smile to my face. But every Wisconsin team other than the Packers is at a competitive disadvantage. You sure don't hear about KD or Kyrie coming to Milwaukee to form a superteam and the Brewers will always be outspent by 2 teams just in their own division. But they both came close in the last year, just frustrating to watch those chances pass by.

    Well I guess they can always change their mind again but it's being pretty widely reported now. My guess is they just decided it was better for their NBA prospects to go elsewhere. Terrible news on Moore, sounds like his son is OK but JS says Howard was in a coma yesterday morning but his injuries were not life threatening.

    Well reading other boards it sounds like Joey to MSU and Sam to UV, they had verbally committed to Gard last weekend. If true like I said above this may be the beginning of the end for Gard. Davison/Reuvers/King class should keep them competitive short term but if we can't land at least some of the top in state recruits we need to find someone who can. Probably unfair to blame Gard here as these kids were going to make their own decision and were very familiar with UW but like Stone/Herro and the first time around with Joey not closing the deal sets the program back as they back off other targets.
