  1. I don't mind the pick but same thought occurred to me, more roadkill for our perennial underachieving D.
  2. I thought Wrigth was the 4th or 5th best OT, that's what I meant by surprise. But my opinion is based on like 3 days of paying attention, I am usually surprised earlier than this.🙂
  3. First real surprise so far, nice to see it ahead of us
  4. Detroit will burn us by trading down with the Pats
  5. I am not sure what the Bears will do now, Skoronski? Seems like JSN will fall to us as I think Lions may grab Gonzalez.
  6. Lots of trades but only Richardson has really been higher that I would have though. Titans will take Levis if no one trades up, Atlanta takes Bijon and Bears Carter?
  7. Seems like Witherspoon may have been the guy Detroit wanted but they may take the other top CB now. Maybe Carter makes it to Bears now?
  8. If all of the almost unbelievable parallels between the careers of Rodgers and Favre continue the packers, having the extra second round pick, will take a QB in the second to cover themselves in case Love flops. Of course, it will be the new QB, maybe that guy from Tennessee. who busts like Brohm did. :)
  9. As usual I don't really pay attention until draft week but I think OL is thin but good at the top of the draft. I feel like if we draft at #13 we may get the best value there as other needs like TE and Edge can maybe be addressed in the second round or later. Skoronski sounds a lot like Bulaga. I do think if we trade back I wouldn't mind trading into next year draft. I know we already have but we have enough picks this year and next year we will have a year of Love at QB to know where we are and the extra premium picks may payoff better. Maybe Seattle wants Richardson and he falls to #13? Can't wait for tonight, glad we have something to get us over the Bucks so quickly.
  10. I have been an advocate for building inside out and drafting stud lineman on both sides of the ball for a few years now. And with the switch at QB it may be a good time to start. As usual I am a little late getting into the draft but OT seems like a position that may be BPA at 13 and I agree we could use one. I also think we are so close now that trading up for one of the 2 elite Edge guys would be tempting, maybe one gets to 5 or 7 and we could trade up? I think there are some concerns with Wilson's foot that may drop him. Getting to 3 would do it but would take a haul and I am not interested in spending that much on one player until we know what we have in Love.
  11. Colombia I think is a bit underrated as a retirement destination. I looked into it and if you invest 200K there, which can be just buying a house/property, you can get some sort of visa/residency. I could basically trade my house for one down there and am guessing it would be a bit of an upgrade over what I have here. Health care is cheap and good. I am leaning toward Mexico if I do it though, I like that it's drivable and I think it would be a little easier to adjust to things culturally there than in some of the other countries mentioned here.
  12. I think Gutes has already said they planned on doing that, not directly but more like he said Love has shown them enough to warrant it. Now of course it is a given.
  13. That is a good point, there probably is a fair chance the Pat's or Jets would pick our top player. I think Skoronski or Smith-Njigba would be a pleasant surprise at 13.
  14. Since the Jets want the contract reworked before the trade does that mean the Packers are going to eat some more salary/bonus in exchange for the jet's "generosity" in pick compensation? I guess it could work either way but I think I heard it was the Jets asking for the new contract before the trade.
  15. After thinking about it a while it seems like we pretty much got the same deal that has been rumored the last few weeks. We didn't get the unprotected first and the Jets didn't get a potential 25 pick if Rodgers retires. I do think the jets sort of won the narrative here, nobody believed Rodgers was really 90% thinking retirement but they reportedly used it as leverage. Seattle and Detroit picking in top 10 hurt us too but that's not really fair as the Rams got a Lombardi for their trouble. I saw on NFL network an estimate that everything the Packers got(of course '24 pick is variable) was worth about pick #21. Since I said I thought the #13 pick alone was fair comp I guess I can't complain too much. I think it will be key for this trade if moving up to #13 pans out. If the Packers pick at that spot there is probably a good chance they could have had the same player at #15 and end up just paying more for him. On the other hand the higher you are the better chance you are sitting in a key trade up or trade down position, especially with 4 QB's going high possible.
  16. When I read the initial reports on the McAfee interview while at work yesterday they did make it sound like he was blaming the Packers when they took one quote out of context. Later when I saw more of the interview I realized he was really just explaining that they weren't waiting on his decision anymore, he didn't sound hostile to the Packers to me. I think those early reports are what gave that impression to some.
  17. I think the 13th pick all by itself would be fair compensation, but I can see why the Jets likely won't give it up. If they are going all in with Rodgers for a year or 2 they need that starter. It's a premium pick and reading Jets forums they still need some help on the oline. Future picks they would probably part with easier as they hope they will be later in the rounds. I also think the Packers should be fine with picks in 24 and 25 as it will help to build around Love. They have been running a top 10 Rodgers moments on NFL network all morning, reminded just how great it has been having him all these years and I agree it's sort of sad to see him shown the door even if I agree with it. It also made me think those who think he isn't worth much in a trade are wrong.
  18. I read that Silverstein reported Gutes said he wanted to move on with Love late in the season. Seems to be plenty of smoke here, enough for me to think we have seen the last of Rodgers playing QB in GB. The jets 13 pick would be nice, is the Raiders 7 pick too much to hope for?
  19. I may be in the minority but I think OL is a big priority and if things fall our way would like to se 2 drafted in first 4 picks along with a DL. There is obviously some others to blame for the playoff losses the last 3 years but we got dominated in the trenches all 3 games. Bak is a question mark, Jenkins too, I like the progress the young OL guys made last year but I think it's time to beef up the talent on the lines for Rodgers last years. Throw in a WR and address other needs down further in the draft.
  20. Reacher is entertaining enough, the perfect series to released before the holidays as it's the sort of action flick everyone enjoys. But it's pretty much just Roadhouse, and no one will ever do it better than Roadhouse. Peacemaker is easily the most entertaining show I have watched in the last year, and I watch way too much TV these days.
  21. Yes, I don't think my last 2 jobs ever contacted my references, for sure my last one didn't. Maybe it's just that I have a longer work history now and a lot of stuff is now verifiable in other ways but generally I would think you get a pretty good feel for a person and their skills from interviews and no one is going to provide a reference that would say anything bad about them. It's probably not a great tool to use in the hiring decision process anyway.
  22. I had read about it but didn't realize it until becoming unemployed again, there has been a shift from employees being made to feel like they are lucky to have a job to employers being lucky to have employees. I can't say this exist in all professions but it is definitely happening in the service sector as well as IT. In my view this is a good side effect of COVID.
  23. I hadn't realized it until you posted this but yes Indeed seems much easier to apply than the last time I tested the market a few years ago. It's so annoying to spend 15 minutes on a detailed application before you even know if there will be interest in you. Now like you say every morning I have a bunch of emails from employers and I can quickly submit my resume/contact info if I am interested. Yesterday I applied for a job through a local online newspaper and am now apparently on ziprecruiter as well, I get emails from there too but not sure yet how good it is yet.
  24. I quit my job of 10 years at the end of December. I just realized the job stress was making me unhappy and affecting me even in my time off and finally pulled the plug on it. I am in IT and the job market is amazing right now, it's unbelievable the difference remote work has had on the number of opportunities that are out there when you used to be largely bound to your local area. I am taking my time and looking for something that I know I will be happy in rather than focused on pay, I guess part of getting older for me is realizing money isn't everything.
