  1. I have been an advocate for building inside out and drafting stud lineman on both sides of the ball for a few years now. And with the switch at QB it may be a good time to start. As usual I am a little late getting into the draft but OT seems like a position that may be BPA at 13 and I agree we could use one. I also think we are so close now that trading up for one of the 2 elite Edge guys would be tempting, maybe one gets to 5 or 7 and we could trade up? I think there are some concerns with Wilson's foot that may drop him. Getting to 3 would do it but would take a haul and I am not interested in spending that much on one player until we know what we have in Love.
  2. Colombia I think is a bit underrated as a retirement destination. I looked into it and if you invest 200K there, which can be just buying a house/property, you can get some sort of visa/residency. I could basically trade my house for one down there and am guessing it would be a bit of an upgrade over what I have here. Health care is cheap and good. I am leaning toward Mexico if I do it though, I like that it's drivable and I think it would be a little easier to adjust to things culturally there than in some of the other countries mentioned here.
  3. I think Gutes has already said they planned on doing that, not directly but more like he said Love has shown them enough to warrant it. Now of course it is a given.
  4. That is a good point, there probably is a fair chance the Pat's or Jets would pick our top player. I think Skoronski or Smith-Njigba would be a pleasant surprise at 13.
  5. Since the Jets want the contract reworked before the trade does that mean the Packers are going to eat some more salary/bonus in exchange for the jet's "generosity" in pick compensation? I guess it could work either way but I think I heard it was the Jets asking for the new contract before the trade.
  6. After thinking about it a while it seems like we pretty much got the same deal that has been rumored the last few weeks. We didn't get the unprotected first and the Jets didn't get a potential 25 pick if Rodgers retires. I do think the jets sort of won the narrative here, nobody believed Rodgers was really 90% thinking retirement but they reportedly used it as leverage. Seattle and Detroit picking in top 10 hurt us too but that's not really fair as the Rams got a Lombardi for their trouble. I saw on NFL network an estimate that everything the Packers got(of course '24 pick is variable) was worth about pick #21. Since I said I thought the #13 pick alone was fair comp I guess I can't complain too much. I think it will be key for this trade if moving up to #13 pans out. If the Packers pick at that spot there is probably a good chance they could have had the same player at #15 and end up just paying more for him. On the other hand the higher you are the better chance you are sitting in a key trade up or trade down position, especially with 4 QB's going high possible.
  7. When I read the initial reports on the McAfee interview while at work yesterday they did make it sound like he was blaming the Packers when they took one quote out of context. Later when I saw more of the interview I realized he was really just explaining that they weren't waiting on his decision anymore, he didn't sound hostile to the Packers to me. I think those early reports are what gave that impression to some.
  8. I think the 13th pick all by itself would be fair compensation, but I can see why the Jets likely won't give it up. If they are going all in with Rodgers for a year or 2 they need that starter. It's a premium pick and reading Jets forums they still need some help on the oline. Future picks they would probably part with easier as they hope they will be later in the rounds. I also think the Packers should be fine with picks in 24 and 25 as it will help to build around Love. They have been running a top 10 Rodgers moments on NFL network all morning, reminded just how great it has been having him all these years and I agree it's sort of sad to see him shown the door even if I agree with it. It also made me think those who think he isn't worth much in a trade are wrong.
  9. I read that Silverstein reported Gutes said he wanted to move on with Love late in the season. Seems to be plenty of smoke here, enough for me to think we have seen the last of Rodgers playing QB in GB. The jets 13 pick would be nice, is the Raiders 7 pick too much to hope for?
  10. Most teams don't build 80000 seat stadiums unless they plan on hosting multiple super bowls or CFB playoff games. They want to keep the seat value high enough to keep a season ticket base even through tough years. I don't think the Viking stadium has as much capacity as Lambeau. Whether the Packers have put that season ticket base at risk remains to be seen but I feel like they may have sacrificed long term stability for short term profits. They have a ton invested in the idea that going to Lambeau is a special experience but speaking only for myself the aura wears off after a couple of dozen games and you start to appreciate your couch at home over all the hassle, especially if you don't live in the Green Bay area.
  11. I have been cynical about the Packers organization's empire building going back a couple of stock sales ago, the one for the last stadium expansion. First, I don't think they needed to ask the fans for money to do that and second I think it has potential to be a long term blunder. They turned a tough ticket into an easy one. I dropped the price on my Tennesse game tickets on stubhub all week and ended up at $20 about an hour before kickoff but still no takers. For the NE game I told my friends who needed tickets to just wait until game day and sure enough there were 2 seats available right behind mine at less than face value. Eventually many fans are going to figure out that it's cheaper to go a la carte then having to pay for preseason tickets every year. Plus filling an 80k seat stadium in cold weather is going to be a challenge in down seasons even if the season ticket base holds and they may find it won't if they are bad for an extended period like the 80's. But they haven't found the bottom of Packer fans pockets yet so maybe I am mistaken about how much money fans will continue to shovel the team.
  12. He will be back, a lot of us have been fine moving on going back a couple of offseasons now. He has too big if an ego and too big of a contract to retire. Maybe he does us a solid and asks for a trade but I doubt it
  13. We weren't going to beat the Niners, we know that now. Maybe this will put in motion some changes but I doubt it, the Packer org is slow to change.
  14. We throw deep to Jones way too often, he isn't a WR.
  15. I think you are going to ger your first wish but LOL at the second. Heck the late season surge probably saved his drinking buddy Barry too.
  16. Me too, undisciplined, red zone struggles, untimely turnovers. I know we are ahead but this would be a sure loss midseason as we would get steam rolled in second half.
  17. He pushed back after getting pushed, but the real question is, what that hell was Douglas doing?
  18. This feels a lot like that first Detroit game, we look better but just can't stop stepping on ourselves.
  19. Seems like we have run a half dozen end arounds to WR already to not much success. Hope we are at least setting something else up.
  20. Looked like it might have hit ground but didn't shift in that look. Catch
  21. Even if you get it you may not get another 1st down and punt anyway. Risk vs reward 101
  22. Anyone else having hulu issues on game like the same 30 seconds loop over and over? I have had this happen on big packer games before, ugh
  23. I am holding my nose and pulling for the Seahawks but they stink. Geno Smith made the Pro Bowl? I haven't noticed him throw one pass downfield yet and it seems like he has 2 good receivers. 3 false starts already and it is week 18.
  24. I think we had one of those need a half dozen games to go our way back in the Infante era too and I remember thinking it wasn't impossible as most wins we needed were favorites but it didn't happen. We blew first round bye's to the Pennington led Jets and more recently to Peterson and the Vikes, those felt like we were eliminated back in those days. We also lost the division to the Vikes on a Sunday night so it's not like we are on some amazing run in meaningful finals. I feel pretty good about tonight but mostly because we are at home, Detroit is just as hot as we are.
  25. When is the last time the Packers lost one of these must win to get in final games? Last one I can think of is Favre's first season in GB against the Vikes. I know we have 2 wins since against the Bears, 2010 and the Randall Cobb game. Maybe one against the Lions? We have had so many meaningful final games against them that I can't remember specifics. I don't mean games like Denver when the Vikes choked in Arizona but true win you are in for sure and lose you are out going into weekend.
