  1. Trade values site has Woodruff at 152 million surplus value,7th highest in baseball. The Brewers couldn’t even get close to that with prospects, they would have to include guys like Peralta,Hiura, and Urias. I suspect like Yellich they may surprise us and extend one of these two, probably Woodruff.
  2. I just checked the gamecast and was wondering the same thing. But that last inning didn’t look pretty so guessing he just didn’t have it. Still, starters usually get longer leashes and he has come back from bad innings before,
  3. There was a stretch in 2019 where he looked nearly as good as last year, it was when Adams was out. I am not sure if teams just adjusted to the new offense or he got too focused on Adams when he was back but we were actually talking MVP candidate at one point that season as well. 2018 is another story...
  4. So my vet has a policy since Covid started of having the dog owners stay in their cars and they come out and get your dog, if you are lucky the vet may actually come out and talk to you about your pets health after they examine them. I took one of my dogs in this week and what used to be a half hour appointment tops now takes an hour and 15 minutes, it was 20 minutes after my appointment time before they even came out and got my dog and this has happened EVERY time. It was just a yearly checkup and vaccination. I am fully vaccinated for Covid and I am sure most of them are, at this point I am convinced they are going to milk this as long as they can as they prefer not to have to deal with us directly and they can take their time. It's not like they have to rush, who cares how long I have to sit in my car, right? I have a job too and my time has value. I mask up and go to the doctor and pretty much everything else in life, why do they get to leave me in my car? I would like to be there while they examine my dogs and they feel better with me around too.
  5. It was discussed a bit in the other Braun thread. The guesses are Braun is really retired or didn't plan on returning until later this year. I have to think if it was an option he would signed already, considering how desperate we are and he costs nothing but money it's a no brainer. I guess if he was demanding 10 million for the rest of the season the Brewers would balk but that seems unreasonable.
  6. I was looking for an old Woodruff appreciation thread to bump but found this one instead. Interesting read and that it started with "is he getting overshadowed by Burnes?" way back in 2018. Woody is now 5th in the majors in ERA and has a pretty nifty 0.768 WHIP and 2.0 bWAR. Not bad for a guy who got demoted to #3 in an in game thread a few weeks ago.
  7. Here we are again, 90 pitches through 6 in a tight game. Looks like Woody is lights out from the box score, 7th start of the year and he is not up this inning. Time to stretch him a little further I would think.
  8. I could be wrong but I think the answer is no, the portion that gets accelerated onto the cap is the remaining prorated signing bonus, that has been paid and has to hit the cap when they trade/release him. I thought I read here that there is a difference between trade and release so I might be missing something. I don't think the cap hit is in the way of the trade much especially after June 1, for the Packers the issue is they were counting on having Rodgers this year and they also paid a large signing bonus for a 5 year deal in which I think Rodgers has only played 2 of. That's also why they should demand a lot in a trade, if they are paying the lions share of that 5 year deal and another team gets him for 3 they should pay a price for that in picks.
  9. Considering the news on Yelich if Braun has been staying in shape waiting for the call from the Brewers you would have to think he was on a plane by now. 2019-20 Braun would look fine right back there at #3 in this lineup. But it seems like we haven’t heard much and even before today’s news they had a need, maybe Braun has just moved on. Coming back for 5 million or whatever maybe doesn’t mean that much financially and the longer he is away the less he probably wants to play.
  10. I feel sort of bad for the guy but no way the Brewers could burn up their pen in this debacle. Hopefully the Dodgers call off the dogs and allow both teams to move on to Monday.
  11. Geez wasn't even paying attention yet since I don't have cable but was looking forward to listening to at least part of the game. It is nice outside though...
  12. Braun It's pretty amazing just how much playing time we would have for Braun when we didn't really have anywhere for him to play when the season started. And Nottingham is back i the lineup? Alright!
  13. I guess I don’t see how it’s leverage to ‘force’ the Packers to trade him and get a haul of a return 9 months earlier than they were going to anyway. If fact, I laugh since rather than a more amicable split where they may have worked with Rodgers on a possible destination, now they’re motivated to trade him to whoever. It would be truly hilarious to watch him go to a poorly run organization like Houston and never sniff legitimate contention for whatever time he has left.... I don't think we are that much in disagreement here except your suspicion that the Packer might not blink like the Raiders did with Mack, I was responding more to recent posts about the Packers letting him sit out the year rather than trade him and the idea that he doesn't have leverage. There are a lot of scenarios I can envision right now but him sitting out the season and then being traded next year is really not an option in my mind. I would bet my house that isn't how this will play out.
  14. His leverage seems sort of obvious to me, if he refuses to play for the Packers they will trade him no matter what they are saying now. He is one of the biggest stars in the sport and the reigning MVP, neither the Packers nor the NFL are going to want a holdout to drag into the season. This isn't really even all that unusual, guys hold out and eventually get traded every other year, that's how Mack ended up in Chicago.
  15. I liked it better when baseball didn’t have an overtime rule for us to complain about
  16. Well with Burnes out we left it all out there tonight so tomorrow seems like stretch. We need to get our lineup healthy
  17. Gah! Feel like we wasted Hader now. Don’t feel very good about winning a man on second contest here
  18. Woody is at 91 pitches, may not come up this inning and it is a 2-2 game. Is it that crazy to send him out until he gives up a base runner? The bullpen could use the break.
  19. Only if OSU and Clemson are in the SEC and sometimes it seems that way. Half their picks from the SEC is probably about average these days. I like that they are drafting need of course but hope they aren't passing on better players to do it. Edit: Just saw the Florida DT and now the App state CB
  20. It's certainly possible maybe even likely that he would suck it up and play for his paycheck when push came to shove but I am not sure that is good for the team, they really need some sort of peace with him if he comes back. I would bet the NFL would like them to call his bluff though. I sort of think this will be resolved soon one way or the other.
