  1. He had options but was DFA'd to make room for Zach Godley if I was reading the earlier posts in this thread right. Seems like an avoidable blunder but like others have said the org just may have wanted to move on and let him go somewhere else. He did make it all the way to the Dodgers so most of MLB passed on claiming him.
  2. I saw this and thought maybe it was time to let Ray sink or swim but he must be hurt again?
  3. I don't know, he didn't get that long a look with the Brewers(2IP) and a guy who throws that hard was probably going to get a few more chances. You're probably right he just wasn't a good fit with the Brewers but he wasn't a nobody, most of us were aware of him due to what we gave up and draft status so hoped he would pan out. Just odd that they punted on him so quickly after it took so long for him to reach the majors. On a related note I just checked and saw Knebel has been back for a few weeks as well.
  4. Well I am pretty sure they would trade him for Hader but man I hate seeing this thread bumped. It’s just weird you would let a talented pitcher go with options to keep guys like Godley.
  5. Nice quick inning for Woody after taking the lead, just what the doctor ordered.
  6. Yes 200 elite innings > 160 elite innings. Burnes probably has the best shot given his early season hype and strong play recently.
  7. The Cardinals could go 10-3 against the Brewers in their remaining games and still be 3 games behind but they likely would have greatly impacted the Brewers lead on the Reds in the meantime. Not that I'm predicting that nightmare scenario but I think that is the concern people have, not that they're going to blow their 10 game lead on the Cardinals. Yep that's me, just a lot of games left against a franchise that has obviously at times tore our hearts out, and they are also hot right now. But I think the Reds overtake us if we blow it. But take 2 out of 3 in this series and you can probably put me in the "we got this" side of this debate. We are that close just not there yet.
  8. Going to have to sweat this one out, Pirates seem a little better than the Cubs. Or at least are still trying.
  9. If Ray can stay healthy he still definitely has a shot. It’s easy to forget that he has had a string of injuries since his good AA season. If nothing else a good finish gives him some trade value again.
  10. Josh Jackson may be toast. He is getting abused. I was glad we drafted him on draft day, but glad we got Alexander with our first and not Jackson like some mocks had . I liked the pick too, lesson learned on not judging prospects on bad Alex Hornibrook throws.
  11. Honestly I thought about not starting my annual Hulu live subscription until the regular season because these preseason games are unwatchable. But I wanted to watch Love, still ugly football.
  12. We are just at the point in the season where losing a game to the lowly Pirates will throw us into completely irrational fears of a collapse. But not loving how this is going, 7 inning games are much better for us with the big 3 going.
  13. Only watching on gamecast right now but back to back infield singles followed by a walk suck
  14. Anderson looking pretty good lately, if we can keep getting good outings from the back 3 of the rotation we just might get to 100 wins
  15. We went from in cruise control to out of it so fast in 2008(yes Mets bailed us out) and 2014 that it's hard not to worry it could happen again. This year the starting pitching should make us slump proof though so not really worried but not pulling for Reds to beat Braves/Phillies for playoff matchup scenario's yet either.
  16. Things have definitely changed on the remote work side, companies still fighting it are losing out on top talent. I had gotten myself to full time remote then took some time off but went back to same company, new manager insisted I come in at least a couple of days a week and had a real problem with remote workers. Then Covid came and they found productivity increased with workers at home so now we are fully hybrid and no one is required to come in except new hires in entry positions. Interviews are exhausting, they don't really stress me out any more but I went through a process late last year and had 4 separate interviews, it got sort of annoying in the end. Then I turned it down because of the remote work thing, that is tough to let go of. It literally turns what used to be a 10 hour work day(commute, getting up, getting ready etc) into 8 hours. Not to mention I can just take a nap over lunch break if tired which gets rid of the lazy food coma afternoons I have had most of my life in the office.
  17. I thought he was still solid his last year and wanted him back but not at what the Rams paid him but who knows, the team was pretty awful that year. The Rams released him despite having 8 sacks in 13 games so they saw something they didn't like. It would probably take a lot of PED's for him to contribute...
  18. League minimum is realistically all he would get and I would think they could use him at inside LB more than as an edge. I think Rodgers and a few vets just having some fun, sort of late for this unless CM3 just decided he wants to come back and play this year at the last minute. He is 35.
  19. Since this is the optimism thread, I suppose we can ask… what would be the best [or most fun] potential World Series matchup for the Brewers? Here are my thoughts… 1) White Sox - Would be some great pitching matchups, and sort of fun that all of the games (home and away) would be easily drivable for local fans. It could trigger some PTSD with having to see LaRussa’s mug all series. 2) Blue Jays - This series would be filled with some really great pitcher (Brewers) versus hitter (Blue Jays) matchups. 3) Oakland - I think this is the matchup I would feel most confident in, so that moves it up the list. 4) Rays - I would spend the series worried the Brewers were going to be outsmarted at every turn, and I’d be a little concerned about scoring enough runs against them. The Adames angle would be fun, but I would also be worried about whether he would be able to do anything offensively at the Trop. 5) Astros - I wouldn’t want to play the Astros, but it’d pretty much guarantee >90% of America was rooting for the Brewers. 6) Red Sox / Yankees - Seems like the whole series would just be framed in narratives about what Boston or New York was doing right/wrong versus anything the Brewers were doing. Optimism thread! I have analyzed all possible scenarios and come to the conclusion that we would smoke ‘em all.
  20. I misread some earlier post and thought weather coming in at 9, went to a bar at 6 to watch since I don’t have Bally. Oh well, 7 inning double headers are good for us.
