  1. Last year the Brewers gave Perez/Shaw/Aggy 778 PA. In those PA they amassed a 203/287/629 slash line. Last year Sogard/Smoak combined for 248/347/779 slash line in 942 PA. For roughly 2M more, we are vastly improving those 778 PA between 1B/UTL with those 2 signings. Grandal 246/380/848 Narvaez 278/353/813 Offensive production takes a small hit while saving roughly 15M. Urias was 1bWAR better than Arcia in less than half of the games played. Those are 3 offensive improvements made without breaking the bank. 3B is still up in the air, but I am optimistic that they will address the position before March.

  3. How about Jean Segura? Philly has Didi now and has talked about Jean moving him to 3rd. Maybe they get in the Donaldson sweepstakes and we can sneak in and grab Segura. He has around 3/44m left on his deal.
  4. Last 2 year R/L splits for our projected starters: Vs R OPS CF Cain 0.715 RF Yelich 1.088 2B Hiura 1.021 1B Smoak 0.829 LF Braun 0.775 C Navarez 0.837 3B Sogard 0.703* SS Urias 0.541* vs LHP OPS CF Cain 0.857 RF Yelich 0.959 2B Hiura 0.673* 1B Braun 0.901 LF Garcia 0.789 C Pina 0.775 3B Sogard 0.817* SS Urias 0.954 Hiura and Sogard have some interesting reverse splits that I'm not sure hold much weight. Urias mashed LHP but struggled mightily vs RHP is a small sample last year. I don't think a leveling of 750ish OPS is out of the question him. Even without a major upgrade at 3B, that lineup is very similar to last years with potentially some more consistency without regular ABs going to Shaw/Aggy/Arcia
  5. Using their last 2 years splits, a hard platoon of Smoak/Braun at 1B would result in a 240avg/355obp/498slg/853ops. I'll take that production for the expected cost, not to mention Braun's added AB's in the OF.
  6. Brewers get: Jeff McNeil, Dominic Smith, Jed Lowrie, & Justus Sheffield Mariners get: Corey Ray Mets get: Josh Hader & Kyle Seager CF-Cain RF-Yelich 2B-Hiura 3B-McNeil 1B-Braun C-Navarez LF-Garcia SS-Urias P Bench-Smith(1B), Lowrie(3B/2B), Pina©, Gamel(OF), Arcia(SS)
  7. Posted this on the Trade Simulator (yeah i know...) and got some good feedback. What do you guys think? https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/trade-18516/ Astros: Miguel Andujar & Domingo German Brewers: Carlos Correa, Deivi Garcia, & J.A. Happ Yankees: Josh Hader
  8. I see it as around 1300 PA between 1B and LF. That would be around 400 AB if split 3 ways, or 500/500/300 with Braun, OF Option, and a LH 1B option.
  9. With Braun being in his last year of his deal and CC being open to him spending some time at 1B, it may be time for us to think about the potential future of our OF (depending on your view of Corey Ray). FA Options Nick Castellanos Marcel Ozuna Yasiel Puig Corey Dickerson Asvail Garcia Kole Calhoun Trade Options Starling Marte Mitch Haniger Who would be your main targets from this group?
  10. Dodgers: Alex Verdugo, Dustin May, & Joc Peterson Mets: Jeff McNeil, JD Davis, & Stephen Matz Yankees: Miguel Andujar, Clint Frazier, Deivi Garcia, & Jonathan Loaisiga
  11. *The price to take him on with nothing of consequence of return*
  12. Benintendi and 15m cash would be the price I would need to take on Price. Lowers his AAV to 27m per year and locks in our OF for the next 3 years. Cain - CF Yelich - RF Hiura - 2B Benintendi - LF Braun - 1B Navarez - C ??? - 3B Urias - SS Woodruff Price Houser Lauer FA
  13. Hah. I fully expected some of that with this deal. Bottom line is he would be making less than a guy like Kyle Gibson and you wouldn't be relying on him to be a TOR arm.
  14. Is it worth pursuing a trade for Starling Marte? Our OF would be locked in the next 2 years with Yelich/Cain/Marte and Braun shifting to 1B. Possibly add Archer as another potential plug and play piece. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/trade-17756/ Marte & Archer for Lutz, Small, & Garcia Would add 21M to our payroll, which leaves some room for a 3B addition and another possible SP. Marte - LF Yelich -RF Hiura - 2B Braun - 1B Navarez -C Cain - CF Caesar Hernandez? - 3B Urias - SS Woodruff Ryu 3/51 Archer Houser Lauer Puts our payroll at about 115m with a little wiggle room for another backup IF and BP help
  15. I have our 26-man at 74.5M after the Navarez trade. Roughly around 50M below our ending payroll from 2019.
  16. McNeil and Davis 1000% McNeil and Davis are your 3B/1B for the next 4 years.
  17. Robert Murray reporting that the Brewers have "taken calls" on Hiura, but that it would take a "sh*t ton"
  18. Stealing your format Riley and sticking with a Hader/McNeil/Smith trade but changing up the FA signings: Off Season Moves - - Trade Josh Hader to the Mets for Jeff McNeil and Dominic Smith. - Sign Zach Wheeler - 5/$100M - Sign Alex Avila - 1/$15M - Sign Howie Kendrick - 2/$16M - Sign Dallas Kuechel - 3/$39M - Sign Delin Betances - 2/$18M - Sign Jedd Gyorko - 1/$4M Non-Tender - Shaw, Nelson, Saladino, Guerra Lineup CF - Cain RF - Yelich (L) 2B - Hiura 3B - McNeil (L) LF - Braun 1B - D. Smith (L) SS - Urias C - Pina/Avila (L) Bench: Arcia (SS) Kendrick(1B/LF) Pina/Avila © Gamel (LF/RF/CF) Jedd Gyorko (3B/2B) Starters: Wheeler Woodruff Kuechel (L) Houser Lauer (L) Relief Pitchers: CL - Knebel SU - Betances MR - Burnes MR - Suter MR - Peralta MR - Black LOOGY - Claudio AAA Shuttle Notes - Kendrick/Braun/Smith all get 3-4 starts per week between 1B/LF - Betances is a injury risk, but he can be the elite SU man we need if healthy - If Burnes become the weapon out of the BP he was in 2018, we are loaded in the BP again even without Hader Salary 124.7M
  19. I am curious where he said this? He seems like an ideal candidate to try to convert to a 1B given his relative uninspiring D at OF/3B. If the Brewers could afford it, which I think they can, signing him and Moose to play the corners would lead to a beautifully constructed lineup now that they also have Urias. 1. Cain 2. Yelich 3. Hiura 4. Moose 5. Castellanos 6. Braun 7. Urias 8. Pina With the remaining money the Brewers could still sign Wheeler (4/72) and Lyles (2/12) at their fangraph projections and keep the payroll under 125m. That lineup with Woodruff/Wheeler/Houser/Lyles/Lauer in the rotation and Hader/Knebel/Suter/Peralta in the pen. Heck yeah
  20. Taking your Hader 3-team a different direction. Trade value surplus in () Brewers get (+.8): Corey Seager Edwin Rios Brad Hand Indians get (+.5): Dustin May Trent Grisham Dodgers get (-1.3): Francisco Lindor Corey Kluber Josh Hader Tristan Lutz Seager SS Yelich RF Hiura 2B Braun LF Moose 3B Cain CF Rios 1B Pina C
  21. Navarez & Seager for Cain works in the Trade Value simulator That gets us out of Cain's deal 1 year earlier (2022 TO on Seager), gives us a RH 3b/1b option, and an great hitting C.
  22. No money to get 2 SPs and re-sign Moose and Seager's $6M and arby guys. Pomeranz will be about $5M too. Imo Freitas isn't even on Stearns' radar for a roster spot. They couldn't trust him to catch even one inning when Pina was hurt, so I can't imagine he would be any kind of a backup except at AAA. I have their payroll at 133.88M with the trade and the following FA's: Wheeler 4/72m Moose 2/23m Betances 2/18m Pomeranz 3/18m Lyles 2/12m Avila 1/4m Those contracts are all based off various projections from fangraphs and MLBTR. Now that doesn't factor in buyout $$, but I believe that they can stretch the budget to the 130-140 range.
  23. I think the Dodgers line up well as a trade partner for Hader. They have depth at out positions of need, can afford his soon to be inflating salary, and have the bullpen need. Josh Hader for Corey Seager, Edwin Rios, and Connor Wong. Seager is a top of the line SS when healthy and fits our Win-Now window with 2 years of control. He also serves as a good bridge to Turang for 2022. Rios is a mashing 1B that is blocked in LA and would replace Thames as a LH 1B option and bench bat. Wong is a high floor C prospect that can be ready for 2021 to replace Pina as our backup or gives us Nottingham insurance if he struggles again in 2020. SS- Saeger (L) RF - Yelich (L) 2B - Hiura 3B - Moustakas (L) 1B - Braun/Rios LF - Grisham (L) CF - Cain C - Pina/Freitas Resign Moose at around 11m AAV and spend remaining $$ on a tier 2 SP (Wheeler/Kuechel/Odorizzi) and high leverage BP arm (Pomeranz/Betances)
  24. Forgot to remove Austin and Spangenberg who elected FA after being outrighted. Payroll stands at roughly 96.35M It's David Freitas, not Jake. Good catch. Had him in correctly in the other tabs. My brain must have blended Freitas, Nottingham and Faria!
