    Barring catastrophic injuries, our Pitching staff to the deadline is pretty much set, outside of Nelson joining the rotation and One of Anderson Chacín Gio to the pen. Rotation: Woodruff > #1/Ace Davies > #2 Anderson > #3 Gio > #4/5 Chacín > 4/5 Nelson > #2/3/4 Bullpen: Houser > good 2 inning Peralta > wild card Albers > touching 95 Claudio > Loogy only! Guerra > ridiculously underrated Jeffress > fireman role important Burnes > will totally dominate Hader > could make our pen the best Imo, this staff the next 2 months should with even just a modicum of offense and a more favorable schedule get us in position to lead the central and then dominate the last 2 months with deadline additions and September call-ups.

    They won, so they did score enough. They do score the highest % of runs by home runs than any team in baseball, but do occasionally score without the long ball. I don’t think the rotation is weak, in fact, since Gio added and Anderson added and Burnes and Peralta to the pen statistically one of the best. Lackluster bullpen? Now I’m stumped, With Burnes Guerra Jeffress Hader shutting things down in the late innings Albers peralta Houser holding their own, I’d say it’s one of the best pens in the NL.

    Twins are a good team, but if they played the brewers schedule they would probably be a .500 team.

    Just needs time. Yeah, for sure. You can see it every time he pitches. Dominant stuff is there. If he can find the consistency, the sky is the limit. He’s gonna be better this year out of the pen than last year.

    How about the month before? Are you willing to guarantee the same level of success next month with the same group? I mean, you can cherry pick a given month but that doesn't tell the whole story, Yes, six runs a game is hyperbole but let's not pretend this team isn't dependent on out hitting the other team to win. Sure, they have some success against lesser offenses but when they play good offenses this becomes glaringly clear. I'm not sure 13 games is a representative sample. Are you telling me they don't have a significantly better shot at beating the dodgers with a better rotation last year? Do you not recall the pitching kabuki they had to partake in against the Dodgers just to make it through. I'd say the lack of better starting options was absolutely their undoing unless you think the World Series is not the objective. The rotation is better this year than Last, if for no other reason we now have a clear #1/ace in Woodruff, and healthy Davis. Bullpen 1-8 as good or better than at this time last year. Offensively it’s tough with the worst production in baseball at 3rd(Shaw) and 3rd worst at first(Aguilar). Slightly below average year’s from them adds how many wins to our total this year?

    American League a massive joke this year. 5 good teams 10 bad teams. Twins are 7 wins 8 Loses vs .500 or better teams. 21 games over vs the bad.

    I don’t think Stearns is going to make any moves until closer to the deadline, so we’ll see how Smoak Thames Aguilar Shaw EE Abreu do over the next 5-8 weeks.

    Well maybe not greener, but with less weeds(less Ks-more contact)with the potential for a pristine Lawn(short right field Miller Park effect/Loser to Winner) How does that short right field not help Thames? He's just as much a pull hitter as Smoak. This team is good. Stop wishing for different and enjoy what we have. Sheesh man. Loser to winner? Ask the Jays how that's working out. Come on Because I’m not satisfied with what we have. Our lack of offense Last year kept us from the World Series, and I see the same thing happening all over again. Stearns knew that last year, that’s why he did the schoop trade, when people where why another offensive piece, get more pitching instead. It’s the same this year. We have the 2 worst hitters in the game right now on our team. The worst third base production in baseball-The 3rd worst first base production. That HAS TO CHANGE. And it can change from within(Shaw Aguilar hitting again) or from getting outside help. Smoak is an upgrade from Thames for this year. His walks are about equal to his Ks = that alone is enough for me. Last month there was a twitter report saying Stearns talking with the jays about Smoak, so I won’t be surprised if this is one of his moves.

    I don't know. There is very little difference between Thames and Smoak. Smoak is a switch hitter, but he's so much better as a lefty that the SH thing isn't really an advantage with him. He's not a good righty hitter. We seem to be fueled by a constant desire for change and this search for a "professional" hitter, whatever that is, we apparently do not have any. Ops+: Thames 102 Smoke 127 Smoak also strikes out less, walks more = professional hitter.

    If Thames does well they could flip him. Not sure what the value would be for Smoak, would guess close to Abreu, so if they don’t want Thames, Im pretty sure we can make it work another way.

    Not a right handed hitting first baseman, but a better, more professional hitter than Thames. Get him away from the rebuilding jays to a contending brewers club could inspire even more from him. Smoak > Thames & Williams & Diplan

    I’ve softened my stance, and believe he’ll use this as motivation to pitch better in AAA and be up with the big club before the middle of June. We’ll know by then who needs to go to the pen.

    Make it a priority. If it could be done today great, otherwise as soon as possible with this soon to be top 5 pitcher in baseball. Big, Strong, easy gas with a great delivery, will bode well for staying healthy. Get it done BEFORE he becomes the best pitcher in baseball.

    Burch Smith impressive along with Aaron Wilkerson, gives the crew good quality depth protection. Allows the team to pitch Houser and a Peralta out of the pen.

    Except Aguilar had a higher slugging percentage than EE both last season and the season before. So surely you can understand if management doesn't want to jump to conclusions based on 127 ABs this year. Also the whole "clogging the bases" thing is just a really silly expression to imply that getting on base is a bad thing, especially when comparing Aguilar to EE who is much older and equally a sloth on the bases. Aguilar can at least play a passable 1B while there is no DH spot in the NL to plug in EE. It's also shows extreme bias to continue to harp on the improvement of the pitching staff in May but completely disregard the improvement of Aguilar when that is brought up. Except, he hasn’t improved. No power. Where’s the power? Every pinch hit appearance lately a k, when rock and BA talk about his season long slump, you know it’s bad. If he’s not at least hitting the occasional home run there’s a serious problem, how long to we give him and Shaw to right themselves? Your right, EE hitter only player, but he’s on pace for 40+ 100+ and ya gotta love almost as many walks as ks. Not the perfect bat we need for obvious reasons, but one we could potentially acquire without giving up prospects. Big difference between the pitching staff leading baseball in era = really really good. And Aguilar getting on base at a higher clip but with zero power = better but still slumping.

    I have know idea why a front office and manager as smart as ours would continue to use Claudio to face right handed hitters. I’m hoping Saturday’s game the last time we see that this year unless it’s in mop up role. Claudio is a very unique pitcher, and will be a true weapon if used as the Loogy only. The fact that lefty’s can’t hit him is one positive. The fact that if only facing lefty’s he can pitch in every game is also a positive. And finally he throws the ball so slow it messes with some of the hitters timing, helping the next reliever. As far as losing the 38th pick in the draft, if we get 3 years of the Loogy only version of Claudio then it was another good trade by Stearn’s & co.

    It’s nice to watch a pitcher pound the zone with 3 plus pitches. Bullpen could use a day off.
