  1. Extremely thoughtful post. Agree with every word. Gausman took Castillo’s spot last night not sure why, don’t think he’s injured, probably just to keep his innings down. The pitchers the Cubbies have faced these last 4-5 games are historically bad/Young, but that ends tonight with Sonny Gray vs Darvish.
  2. If you knew all this would happen why did you want to fire Stearns for not selling high on Yelich & Hader at the deadline? Notice he hasn't responded, and it's an excellent question. I didn’t “know”, I believed the brewers would go on a run in September, after seeing Stearns addition’s pitch for this team, Lyles Pomeranz Black, And Suter in his rehab outings, and Peralta regaining his control in AAA. Guerra Hader Jackson Claudio improvement sealed it for me. Then the September history of Stearns/Counsell just iced the cake. I never said I wanted Yelich traded at the deadline. I don’t believe the Cubbies will lose a game to the Reds or Pirates. The Cardinals and Nats are vulnerable, just because of who they play. If the brewers can keep winning, which I think they will, the division is up for grabs, and could go down to that last Sunday.
  3. I second that. Just hoping it was one of those games and not injury.
  4. Thank you for the unbelievable work you do. I’m amazed at the volume of information you provide. I’ve learned so much.
  5. He’s actually been really good since he’s been back up. Just like the rest of this really good pitching staff that we’ve had since Aug 31.
  6. Your wrong AGAIN. That’s what was said. I’m surprised I was the only one watching that game on the Cardinals feed. Sorry I relayed what was said. That’s the 2 nd time today you’ve called me a liar. Whatever.
  7. You mean the rookie in his sixth major league season? Yeah sure. Love the energy. He can replace Arcia when Hiura’s back.
  8. Wish Braun would have run thru that stop sign.
  9. Leave it to the newbie to get the run home.
  10. I love when they do this and would like to see it more often. Now is the perfect time of year to play this type of baseball. I wouldn't be surprised if our starters only pitch 3-5 innings from here on out, unless of course X starter is just wrecking hitters. But we have enough long relief and overall pitching options to shorten starts and have an extra AB of a 600-800 OPS hitter vs a 300 OPS hitting pitcher. Problem is we don’t have enough long relief, or solid pen options for that matter. Suter is it for long relief. We have 14 in the pen, but 3-4 will never be used, unless a blow out. 2-3 more used only when behind. So that leaves 7 maybe 8 in a close game on a daily basis.
  11. Ha. Ok. Me too.
  12. Sure. Good low leverage mop up arms, the both of them. Barnes actually lost 3 ticks sometime in 2017. Never liked either of them, outside of Barnes in early 17 for just a bit. I’m not going nuts over Black. Odds off gaining enough command to close > 25%. But to still be an effective pen arm > 60%.
  13. If you knew all this would happen why did you want to fire Stearns for not selling high on Yelich & Hader at the deadline? *Mic Drop* Been told to move on so that’s what I’m doing.
  14. If you knew all this would happen why did you want to fire Stearns for not selling high on Yelich & Hader at the deadline? I also doubt everyone was resigned to us not making the playoffs. I never thought it was over. That Cubs series created a pretty large hill to climb though. It is the nature of baseball though, if you spout stuff out constantly you are going to be correct every once in a while because the game is so unpredictable. Ya ya. That’s baseball. I didn’t say everyone was resigned to us not making the playoffs. I said everyone that COMMENTED.
  15. That is a flat out lie. You wanted Wilkerson up and starting in the worst way when he started out hot in spring at AAA, and got mad when other posters referred to him as a AAAA player. You were in love with him because he had command of all his pitches. I think you've made so many outlandish predictions that you have probably forgotten some of them. I remember this one especially, though, because you were so, so in love with the idea of having a "true pitcher" in the rotation. I did want him given an opportunity to start yes, but that’s a far cry from calling him a stud. Stop. You know I never believed him to be that.
  16. Multiple aces, best 40 man depth by far, Brewers finanaces, Nelson to start opening day........... Perdomo, Devin Williams and Rasmussen bullpen studs, Aaron Wilkerson rotation stud, Zach Davies is horrible. The list is nearly endless at this point. Can’t deny I don’t like Davies. Perdomo not looking good because of command issue. Williams And Rasmussen im confident will be studs. Never said Wilkerson was a stud of any kind. See this is what I’m saying, you exaggerate my takes to the point of silliness.
  17. Black has way way way way better stuff than the 2 mental midgets that you just mentioned. Command. It’s that simple. Right? Go take a look at what Barnes did through around mid June last year and let me know how many years and how long of an extension you'd have given him? Simple, obvious, this guy had figured it out. He also throws 99 with a big slider, I'd pretty confidently say his slider bites more than Blacks. No, actually Barnes lost 3+ ticks, commented on that in February, never liked those two. Sorry neither of them ever hit 105 on the gun . Let’s get back to my extension’s: Hiura > 8 years Grisham > 8 years Lyles > 2/3 years Pomeranz 2/3 years That’s it. Those are my extension’s. Never wanted any more to anyone other than these. Even more fervent in my belief they should be extended now than before, when I first said extend. I called for Hiura extension before they called him, to avoid the super 2 game. Would have already saved millions, especially with the first 2.
  18. I can crush all your silly incorrect assertions, except for the ones I’ve already admitted I was wrong on. Aces, Nelson are 2 of those.
  19. Black has way way way way better stuff than the 2 mental midgets that you just mentioned. Command. It’s that simple. Right?
  20. Doesn’t matter. This is where the human being with common sense trumps the computer. Right? Human beings inject bias and prejudice even when trying not to. It can't be helped. You're the perfect example. You make wild and exaggerated proclamations based on your bias and prejudice. After a while you end up being wrong and walk back your exaggerated claim. You like to position yourself as "seeing" things others don't but the others are using a more statistically based argument and end up being correct more often then not over your "common sense" approach. Our senses lie to us a lot. We tend to see or hear what we want to see or hear. That is the whole reason statistics exist. My exaggeration’s are totally overblown around here. It’s like the proverbial fish story. I speak my mind, I am impulsive, but I know the brewers inside and out. For each time I’ve been wrong about whatever, I’ve been right twice. It’s like your bias towards me, blinds you to my dead-on takes, which are way more than you will ever admit. But you know what, I’ve been dead-on with the most important thing: When EVERYONE THAT COMMENTED on this site was resigned to us not making the playoffs, I wasn’t, called what’s now taking place with team a long time ago. Said the pitching would flip September 1 and it did. Said they’d go on a run and they have. Just the fact of my unwavering confidence should let you know how strongly I felt about what’s now taking place. Stats didn’t hint of any of this.
  21. Yep, obviously yesterday's result is not ideal, but the command of his pitches was crap. He couldn't get his breaking ball over, and when you are forced to groove a FB, it doesn't matter how fast it is. I'm still optimistic about his chances of being a solid late inning pen option. I don't think anyone is calling him a future closer quite yet, though. Well I bet someone is saying it...haha He’s definitely a potential future closer. But a lot has to go right with him for that to happen, and I think we all know what that is, command of his pitches. Simple.
  22. Doesn’t matter. This is where the human being with common sense trumps the computer. Right?
  23. But, these are not regular season games per-say, far from it. Burning desire to win trumps everything. We know from experience, teams that absolutely have to win vs teams that don’t, usually do win, I would argue at an unusually high rate. That’s why, with all other factors being equal the projection of the crew at 6.5 is asinine. I don't think you understand how projections and algorithms work. There is absolutely no way to measure "burning desire to win". I mean, you can argue that the algorithms are wrong, or something like run differential is skewing the data they are using to a much higher degree than it should be, but you aren't saying that at all here. It’s called common sense. Why use algorithms that can’t measure the obvious #1 factor? Anyone that knows anything about the game of baseball that thinks the brewers won’t win at least 7 games is clueless. If you ask 100 experienced baseball fans if the brewers will win 7 or more games, I believe it would be at least 90 that say yes.
