  1. We need the best hitting prospect since Braun more than another quality pitcher. Our pitching is emerging as a strength of this team, when Anderson back and jimmy back, look out. The best hitting prospect since Ryan Braun was probably Mat Gamel. Baseball Prospectus had him as one of the top 40 busts since they've been ranking prospects a few years ago and that alone shows you prospects are no sure thing. I’ll take my chances with this guy.
  2. Can we start him in the 2nd? I think it’s possible we use an opener tomorrow.

  4. That’s the story on this wildly intriguing arm. Can’t walk hitters like this no matter how hard you are to hit.
  5. Because this is a small market team, and we just don’t have the funds to sign them. That's a reason why they haven't made any moves, but ignores the point made in my second paragraph entirely. Yes agree, and we’ll see how many of those type of players are made available.
  6. No way do the crew option Shaw!!! Not to a player that gave up his position to accommodate another, and has been a key player in the success of this team the last couple years. You keep playing him till he hits again no matter how long it takes. Call up Hiura for the cubs series, can always send him back down. We can get by just fine with the seven man pen.
  7. Yes, and sign him to a Eloy Jimenez type extension,no worries on super two then, why wait on a bat THIS good?
  8. This. 7 man relief pen. 1.) Nelson woodruff Anderson Houser 2.) Guerra 3.) Burnes 4.) Claudio 5.) Albers 6.) jeffress 7.) Hader That’s a pen with 5-6 multi-inning arms that could handle CC. The xtra offense with Hiura worth no williams
  9. This thread is hard to read thru with the crew so obviously a big time contender and there being a .008 % chance of us selling anyhow. I wonder if the dodgers or astros fan sites have a sellers thread? But continue on......
  10. Nelson up to 94 in yesterday’s game. Thinking the more he pitches can bump that up a tick or two.
  11. Seems like you don't know how the MLB draft works. It is not just losing a 4th round pick it is losing the money associated with that pick. What this means is that the Brewers will have less money to sign their picks. So if the Brewers lose another pick they will have to be more conservative in drafting a player meaning they can't go after a high school player or a junior college player who drops in the draft as they won't have enough in the pool to sign said player. It is not just losing a draft it is losing the slot pool that is associated with the pick that is what will hurt the Brewers. The less slot pool money you have the less you have to give for a signing bonus. This is a MLB sanction that teams can not get around. This is not just a money money money issue it is a futuristic look at the team the team has to keep on bringing in young talent and giving away too many draft picks in one year extremely hurts a team like the Brewers. It’s still less much less comparatively to other teams, slot $ and pick. Signing Gio, eliminates Kuechel imo, and the crew doesn’t want to spend the money on kimbrel, never did from the get go.
  12. The crew’s era has started its free fall. Not sure when we’re gonna hit again, but when we do, you can bet there’s gonna be a run.
  13. Agreed. With teams no longer having to sacrifice draft picks, their pool of suitors will increase and the amount of money they're willing to pay will jump as well (maybe not to the point they would have paid in the offseason, but certainly more than they would at any point between now and in a few weeks when they no longer having to give up a pick). There's likely not much incentive for either pitcher to sign with a team before the draft at this point. Not sure if an increase in suitors and the fact that the value change of not giving up a pick is less for the Crew than other teams (ie. they'd currently be giving up a lesser draft pick than other teams) takes the Brewers out of the running or not. Despite the lower draft pick, the Brewers may still value that pick more than other teams. Add to that that of all the contenders, the Brewers have arguably the most to gain by improving their pitching, and they may still be in a good position to take advantage of being able to add another pitcher or two without trading away any prospects. Doubt losing a 4th round pick has anything to do with the crew’s apparent lack of interest in signing either pitcher, money money money is obviously the reason they won’t be doing business.
  14. Yep......if ever one qualified this would be it As long as his arm feels good.....will be interested to see velocity if they report it Good that he’s back pitching again, bound to be rusty, been almost 2 weeks since he last pitched.
  15. That would be an interesting get. Bye Bye team chemistry, or maybe we can straighten him out? Dodgers sure got a lot better when he left their clubhouse.
  16. Final line 3.1 ip 2 h 4 bb 3 ks 72 pitches 40 strikes 1 hit batter Long layoff, so not surprised with the lack of control, most of walks came early, got better as the game went on.
  17. Very true. I don’t think the crew has been able to deploy more than one starter type into the pen as of yet. But with Gio on board, and Nelson expected back in the next couple weeks, I believe they will go with 2 multi-inning arms from among Houser Wilkerson Peralta Nelson Woodruff. Not perfect, I’d prefer 3, but with CC letting a starter pitch thru 6 occasionally, we should be ok.
  18. This. If if if any of our starters pitching well, let them continue, if effective til 100-105. We DONT have enough multi-inning pen arms to cover the innings at THIS time. It might be ok for Claudio to pitch in 100 games, but I worry about Guerra. He hasn’t even been a pen arm for a full year yet, and he’s being used A LOT. This pen needs Houser pitching multi-inning and when Nelson back one of Nelson/woodruff. Then CC can pull his starters with-out decimating the pen. Or just don't have 18 inning games right in the middle of 10 straight games three days after having a bullpen game because you unexpectedly lost a starter 15 minutes before gametime. All the more reason to have more starter type arms pitching out of the pen.
  19. Because this is a small market team, and we just don’t have the funds to sign them.
