  1. I'm not necessarily advocating to pick him up, but it's not like he *has* to DH everyday. You can still give preference to Braun and Hiura on the days they're not in the field. I think there's a good chance he falls flat on his face the whole year, but these are the reasons I would think about giving it a shot... 2020 Brewers DHs: Domingo's 2019 Stats and 2020 Projections: It's not a huge game changer, but nudging a 73 wRC+ closer to 100 would be nice.
  2. [sarcasm]Are you suggesting Stearns is incapable of forcing other teams to severely overpay for players in order to make these valid reactions?[/sarcasm]
  3. Everyone is tradeable because they have 6 months to sort out the "named later" part. So I'm guessing they already decided on names, but the names won't be official until after the season is over. Cool thanks! For anyone interested, there's some info covered here (which confirms Greenleaf's answer): https://www.mlb.com/news/trade-deadline-rules-for-mlb-in-2020 Basically, you can trade for someone not on the 60-man roster, but because it has to be PTBNL, they won't be able to play for the receiving team this year.
  4. What are the parameters of making a trade this year? They have to be on the 60-man roster, correct? Would making the players PTBNL affect that at all?
  5. I don't necessarily agree or disagree with it, but I don't think it's about having their "best" guy dedicated to the 9th, they just want to make sure they have someone they trust in that role. When they had Knebel/Jeffress they felt they had guys they could go to there. Maybe Williams/Phelps gain that trust over time as well, but I think right now they feel like Hader's the only proven guy they have and they want to make sure they lock down that 9th inning when the lead is there.
  6. True. True for this year/last, but they may still have a word regarding 2013/14:
  7. You have 1 post. You have probably been lurking for awhile. You saw Sogard strike out and said, "I can't take it anymore. I have to create an account to tell people exactly what I think of Eric Sogard." I can dig it. Not really. Thanks for the insult though. I didn't read it as an insult. Regardless, welcome to the board!
  8. I think someone posted something recently showing Hiura had the highest swing and miss rate on pitches in the strikezone in the majors. Add 3 more to that total. I like the guy, but it's amazing how often he doesn't make contact on hittable pitches.
  9. 2017-2020: They're not world beaters and they're better suited as bench players, but I'll still take them in the lineup over any pitcher, including Woody.
  10. Better keep it at a 5 run lead, otherwise we won't be allowed to hit any 3-0 homeruns in a couple innings...
  11. With the millions of dollars they have invested in scouts, employees, research, and other resources to help them make decisions, I certainly hope not. But for those of us sitting on a couch talking baseball out our backsides, it's probably a pretty reasonable tool considering our very limited time and access to knowledge on the subject.
  12. Don't they have a handful of coaches at the alternate training site also (Matt Erickson, etc.)? Seems like they could get by for a few days until individual coaches and players pass enough negative tests to start coming back into the mix. Instead they're basically waiting for the entire team to be 100% negative before returning and causing a whole slew of problems in the process. Like you mentioned, it seems really unfair that other teams are paying for the issues the Marlins and Cardinals have had.
  13. I still don't understand why they can't play games using their "alternate" players. I understand missing a couple games due to the logistics of moving players around, etc., but missing like 2 weeks of games seems avoidable. Yeah they're going to have a pretty lousy team to field, but it's better than the mess this is turning into.
  14. Today's lineup surprises would make a lot of sense if tomorrow we swing a deal for a leadoff hitting rightfielder. Otherwise you'd think Gamel leading off and starting in center would have been a bit less questionable than what CC's doing here. Interesting regardless.
  15. Well that blows my over/under of 60.5 games before a lineup is repeated out of the water
  16. What's the over/under on how games before Counsell repeats a lineup? I think I might put it at 60.5, and I don't necessarily have a problem with that, lol.
  17. Yep, I heard on a broadcast last night that the matchups between teams are counting towards the "official" Spring Training records.
  18. Even if it wasn't the plan, it's definitely a much more comfortable position for the organization to be in than the beginning of last year (ie. start with Burnes and Peralta in the rotation with reinforcements already on staff rather than scrambling to find them once they underperform). Hopefully they'll feel less pressure knowing they're not going to be depended on as much this year. But they could feel more pressure knowing they need to be unbelievable to keep their spots. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out and having some open spots at the beginning of the season will help sort out "who's on" and "who's not" while the other guys get ready to get thrown into the mix.
  19. Narvaez goes deep for the 3rd time in 5 games
  20. It's super early, and it's great seeing the pitching handle him and the rest of the lineup so well, but I'm ready for Yeli to start looking like Yeli.
  21. After being told he's made the team, LoMo will be mic'd up for today's game
  22. I'm guessing Burnes' 10+ ERA and Peralta's 7+ ERA as starters last year didn't instill a ton of confidence in penciling them into the rotation going into the offseason. That said, I would love for them both to click this year and make Anderson unnecessary!
