  1. This might be slightly off topic (and maybe it's been discussed already?), but has there been any mention of what the interleague matchups will look like next year? I've been living in Baltimore for 10 years and this was the first year they were actually going to play here. I hope they keep this year's matchups when a regular schedule resumes, I was really looking forward to an entire weekend of Brewer baseball at Camden Yards.
  2. Agreed, I thought it already sounded pretty hollow considering they had already rejected the MLB telling them "when and where" several times at that point, but if they continue rejecting proposals after basically insinuating all the blame is on MLB's side, they're really going to come off bad.
  3. I like it. Especially when you then consider the extended rosters and the matchups you can play with at the bottom of the lineup (3B - Gyorko/Holt/Sogard, SS - Urias/Sogard/Holt/Arcia). Let's go!
  4. Potentially Logan Morrison as well.
  5. Ah... this seems to clear it up (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designated_hitter):
  6. So if you have this lineup (don't dwell on the order, lol): 3B Holt*, CF Cain, LF Yelich*, 2B Hiura, DH Braun, 1B Smoak^, RF Garcia, C Narvaez*, SS Urias ...and Braun moves to 1B during the game, then Smoak is out of the game and the lineup is only 8 players long for the rest of the game? Or does the pitcher then bat in Smoak's spot?
  7. People who like cool names and raw power, Blaze Jordan could be a fun pick (definitely not implying he'd be a safe and/or smart pick though)
  8. Here are his Pipeline Draft Rankings tools compared to the best tools in the Brewers' system prior to tonight (source: https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-2020-top-30-prospects-list): HIT Mitchell: 60 (#1), Top Rated Brewers: 55 (Brice Turang, Hedbert Perez) POWER Mitchell: 50, Top Rated Brewers: 55 (Mario Feliciano, Tristen Lutz, Corey Ray, Luis Medina, Thomas Dillard) RUN Mitchell: 70 (#1), Top Rated Brewers: 60 (Corey Ray, Brice Turang, Hedbert Perez, Carlos Rodriguez, Eduarqui Fernandez) ARM Mitchell: 60, Top Rated Brewer: 70 (Lucas Erceg) FIELD Mitchell: 50, Top Rated Brewer: 60 (Carlos Rodriguez) OVERALL Mitchell: 55 (#1), Top Rated Brewers: 50 (Brice Turang, Mario Feliciano, Tristen Lutz, Eduardo Garcia, Hedbert Perez)
  9. Best player available please. If that's a college pitcher great, if it's a normally top-10 position player that dropped while all the other teams were busy grabbing arms, that'd be great too!
  10. i'd be fine with this solution: Throw in some background noise from NBA Jam and you're all set.
  11. Alright, let's split the difference and get this done! 12 games against each team in the division (2 home series and 2 road series) and 6 games against each interleague counterpart (1 home series and 1 road series) for 78 games total.
  12. I wonder how they would split up the schedule on a 50ish game season. Is the latest word still that teams would play their own division and their division's "other league counterpart" only? If those are the parameters, something like this might make sense: - Play each team within the division 10 times (a 5 game home series and a 5 game road series each) - 40 games within division - Play each team in the opposite division 2 times (a 1 game home series and a 1 game road series each) - 10 games outside division - 50 games in total That would make things about as equal as you can get. The five game series' would allow for less travelling and also ensure teams don't get lucky in missing other teams' top end starters. For the 1-game series, you could make sure the home team always has a home series either before or after that game as well so that really each team only has five 1-day travel days in their schedule since the home team wouldn't have to travel for each of those series.
  13. kick me. 00 - Loved Leskanic, he was such an oddball
  14. In theory I like this idea, but I have to imagine it'd be pretty difficult to moderate. I can definitely see lots of shenanigans going on if you're allowing people to pipe their audio/video into a live event feed, lol.
  15. If they're thinking possibly 12, I'd just bump it up to 13 so the three division winners can have the byes. I'd like to keep some sort of divisional race in tact and give the top teams something to compete for down the stretch. Otherwise there will be a handful of good teams with things wrapped up pretty early on. Regardless, the 13th spot should be a heck of a race! The past five years have ended with 4, 6, 7, 9, and 9 teams within 3 games of that 13th spot. And that doesn't even account for having fewer games, which will theoretically tighten the standings further, and teams that may have been out of reach otherwise still having something to compete for, so it could be a pretty wild finish to the regular season. Also interesting to note, had the top 13 teams made it into the playoffs each of the past 5 years, only 1 of 65 teams would have sneaked in without a winning record.
  16. I think the long lasting changes will be the technological advances that the epidemic has and will push. Smaller shops being forced to set themselves up to sell online, grocery delivery, possibly online elections, certain businesses realizing they can forgo the expensive office space and work from home effectively, virtual social gatherings, touchless entryways, and probably many more things that really creative people are going to come up with in the upcoming months.
  17. There are some flash forward scenes that you won't understand but I might even recommend BCS before Breaking Bad so you don't know who lives, dies or will not appear in Breaking Bad. I'm torn because I think they play off of that knowledge as well, but I think you could watch them in either order really. It'll form some interesting discussion once there are people that have watched it in chronological order to see if they feel like they missed anything watching it that way.
  18. I generally agree, but the Packers have invited the question by using their first pick on the other side of the ball for 8 straight years. [sarcasm]And now they pick an offensive player and people still complain! They can't win![/sarcasm]
  19. I would also add that, at least for me, having seen Breaking Bad adds some intensity to some scenes that involve characters that *aren't* in Breaking Bad because you know they're not around anymore, one way or another.
  20. The problem with this is that obviously Melvin didn't accept a Gomez for Hader/Santana trade without expanding it to get another piece he wanted. So you really can't say that it *was* two trades since he wouldn't accept it on its own. That said, it's easier to evaluate the trade as a whole if you can break it into smaller theoretical trades in which you deem one of the teams won all of. Probably just semantics, but I can see why it's a little irking to hear people call it two trades.
  21. That's a GREAT idea. I'd love to do something similar in my league. Unfortunately I'm only seeing settings that allow you to increase the draft pick selection time to a max of 2 minutes... Let us know if you find an option for this!
  22. Can this be an honorable mention "Greatest non-Catch"?
  23. It wasn't very meaningful, other than I was stoked to have this kid on the team, but when I think of great catches I always think of Dave Krynzel robbing this homerun: He started in right center field and legit robbed a homerun over the left centerfield wall. He had so far to go he was barely even in the camera's view when it cut to tracking the ball in the outfield. Unbelievable.
  24. Holy moly, $11M per WAR? Wasn't there discussion on here earlier this offseason about how the more widely shared belief of about $8M per WAR should be closer to $4M per WAR?
  25. While it's not a new acquisition for this season, this certainly extends DS' streak of exciting, post-December, big moves. Can't wait til next November when people are complaining the Brewers haven't done anything yet... again...
