  1. Looks like a smooth delivery and explosive out of the hand. I always find it interesting to see the fields some of these guys play on. I doesn't look like there is really a mound he is pitching on here.
  2. I forgot about Priester good call, I think there is a little upside just with fine tuning his location. If he gets his location down I can see him getting further into games like Logan Webb and being a guy who can go 7 innings pretty routinely. I don't know if lowering the ERA down below like the 3 level consistently is obtainable. I agree with the couple post that Misi would be a tough sign but I really like the idea of kind of a multi way path extension. This does get tricky but something like a 7 year deal that goes like 2,3,5, 12, 15, 20, 20 and then has an option that is like a team option if say he makes under 40 starts in the last 2 years but can turn into a player option if Misi is top 5 in the Cy Young at any point of the contract. If we were to extend Made before he is in the majors is there a way to put in a clause that the contract doesn't start until he makes his mlb debut??? I do feel like the Chourio contract made it risky that he skipped AAA for the most part and it wasn't really in the clubs best interest to send him back to AAA after a rough first month or so. I would probably wait until next offseason to see if Made would be open to a big extension but wouldn't be against exploring the waters this offseason if we could keep him in the minors as needed.
  3. I think Turang just has to high of a ceiling. He had a 5.5 WAR but went from 22 drs to 9. On top of that, he showed the power in August that he could be a 25-30 HR hitter. If I were his agent I would role the dice on a 25/30 season with a gold glove and near .300 hitting that could make him $200 million easy. I thought Frelick would be an easier sign because he would be likier to sign a deal like 5/45 with a couple of reasonable team options. He might only ever hit 15 hr and 20 sb but he has the leadership to continue the Brewer way.
  4. I think when they are healthy Anthony and Porter should split PG. Rollins is fine but the other 2 have a way better offensive ceiling which this team needs. Play both Anthony and porter 6 mins each the 1st quarter and then go with the hot hand heavier the rest of the way for like a 28/20 split that kind of rocks back and forth. I would think that getting one or the other to score 20 a game is possible and would lift alot off of Giannis. I've watched a little but not much the 1st 3 games. Have we tried Giannis, Portis, and Turner in the same lineup yet? It would seem to me those are our 3 most consistent/best players. Giannis can still play a little 3. While on the Giannis front, what are season line predictions? He is at 37.3/16/7 with nearly 69% fg% in 32.6 min/gm. Part of me wants to push him and play him like 36 per night and make a push for a 40 ppg season. However, eventually he will have some off nights or teams just triple team him in the paint/drive. I still think 35/15/7 with like 62-63 % shooting is possible if he takes more point reasonsibilties.
  5. The Steelers could use a WR and we could use a CB. Darious Slay for Romeo Doubs, maybe we throw in a like a 7th rounder? It would seem to make sense to me. I don't know about the financial end of it.
  6. Rank the following on possibility of a long term extension. Contreras, Turang, Frelick, Durbin, Misi, Henderson, Patrick, Uribe If you want you could throw in Megill, Koenig, Hall, Gasser, Made, Vaughn, or others into a top 5. 1) Frelick 2)Misi 3) Uribe 4)Patrick 5)Turang I think Contreras and Turang have likely priced themselves out of town. I put Turang 5 because I think there is a little chance he could take a little discount. Frelick seems to be a Murphy favorite and would be a bit cheaper than others. Misi could be a nice long term sign since he didn't have a huge year when all things were said and done but did show ace potential. We don't usually sign relievers long term but Uribe could be a candidate for and Ashby/Peralta style extension and with his past injuries he might be wise to take some security. Patrick would be another Ashby style extension but that might depend on where the organization feels his ceiling is.
  7. Siegler only had 73 plate appearances in 34 games with 16 starts. I agree the bat wasn't great, but his AAA stats were solid (over .400 obp and almost .900 ops) . His .292 obp was better than Haase and he can play 2B and 3B. I do like the idea of signing a vet AAA catcher like Haase or Alfaro to compete with Siegler for the backup catcher role and than having Quero come up after a month or two. Since Contreras barely rests he may only sit 5-6 games in the first 40 or so. Since Seigler can bring other value at 2B, 3B, pinch runner it makes sense to use that utility instead of using a 26 man spots on a catcher who will get 20 abs before Quero comes up.
  8. I would hope so and agree but some teams are super budget conscious and with TV revenue issues and an impending labor issues I would guess that we aren't going to see a big salary increase. Paying Woody 32 million would make our estimated payroll like 135 which Mark A. should/could have no problem shelling that out. My point is though that if that Woody does accept the QO and we do need to shave around 10-15 million off the payroll, trading Freddy becomes much easier. Not only for trimming payroll but also because we would have a vet pitcher on the staff. I mentioned Megill or Vaughn you could make that Ashby, Contreras, or Yeli but Megill or Vaughn make more sense than those guys. Just stating what could happen if Woody were to accept the QO, but agree with you that Mark A. should be able to open the pocket book a little.
  9. Lake City (IN) doesn't seem to have any upcoming Seniors who look to be draftable at this point. However they do have an up an coming stud SS Paker Robinson in the 2027 draft class who we may as well just sign now.
  10. I would make the QO to him. If guys like Severino, Tallion, Tijuana Walker, Kikucki, and others are getting 70-90 million Woody should. Financially if he accepts it likely puts the team in a little bind for a year but would be manageable. It would probably mean that we would trade Peralta and then need to find a way to shed some other money possibly trade Megill or maybe Vaughn if Mark A. isn't willing to go far a bit bigger salary.
  11. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/10/previewing-the-2025-26-free-agent-class-starting-pitcher.html I was kind of wondering what lower value/reclamation style pitchers would be available. My guess is that we wait out the market and sign a couple cheap vets in January/February like Q and Anderson last year. Here are some guys I like German Marquez- As a swing guy he would likely gain a mph or two and be at 96-97. Getting out of Colorado is huge and will be a full year removed from Tommy John and a stress reaction in his elbow. Jon Gray- He is out probably most of next year, but another quality arm that would really play up in the bullpen and some of the small tweets out staff is great at. A 2 year deal with a minimum 2025 salary and smaller 2026 team option would be nice. Dustin May- He probably gets a better deal than the 1st two but another great arm would be great in shorter stints. Jordan Montgomery- This would maybe be like a Tyler Alexander style move. It would be a gamble but he was so good from 21-23 that it would be low risk. Triston McKenzie- Injuries have stalled a promising start to his career. He would be smart to sign a minor league deal with us, could be another upside reliever/multi inning relief option. Eric Fedde- He was so good in 2024 that I think there is still something in the tank. He looked passable with is at the end of the year that I wouldnt be against a minor league deal or vet min deal if non guaranteed. Any thoughts or other options you guys like.
  12. I feel like getting a defensively questionable player isn't our way. I wouldnt be against getting this guy if it could be for like 2-15 but I would guess he could get more.
  13. I would guess the Dodgers will get Murikami as ther 3B/1B/DH Japenese player. He is a bigger get.
  14. I wouldnt hate this deal, I would guess the Mets wouldnt trade Elian Pena just based on age and how good his dsl was. There is top top prospect potential there, maybe not quite Made because he is a bit older but close. I would in most instances want to make 2 seerate trades but since we would be getting better quality I would be OK with it. Maybe to make it a bit closer to what the Mets would be willing to give up I would try Tong, Sproat, Mauricio, Edward Lantigua It would be Tong and Mauricio for Freddy (pretty close to the Burnes value) and Sproat and Lantigua for Megill. We probably don't need 2 mlb ready pitchers but it would help cover the bases. My guess though is that Steans would probably just go sign someone like Framber Valdez and trade for a cheaper pen arm like Pete Fairbanks than give up those young arms and young prospects.
  15. Here are my thoughts 1)Put in a hard salary cap that is a little high to start and reign it in, say like $300 million but dont move it for like 3/4 years. The mlb could flip the script and incentivize teams that spend over say $200 instead of punish them with draft picks or more int. money. 2)Add in a salary floor, start at like $100 million and go up like 3-5% per year. I think there needs to be a better way to revenue share, however with TV contracts being so different and regional that is a tough idea. Maybe as we see more games on streaming the mlb can revenue share better to supplement the new market 3) Add 2 new teams and re-organize the divisions so there are 8 divisions of 4. This should create more revenue and excitement. Who doesn't love a good expansion draft. 4)Reduce arbitration control by 1 year, as much as it pains me as small market teams like the Brewers need the extra cheap control this is the easiest way to get the players union on board and have young stars making under $1 for the first 2-3 years isn't a great look. 5)Reduce contract lengths, I don't mind long deals but some of the 12-15 year deals we are seeing is ridiculous. Make it a cap of like 7 years and add in a clause that each team is allowed to have 1 "Franchise" player contract that can extend to like 10 years. 6) All teams play 1 foriegn country series/field of dreams/little league. You could allow the top 5 teams that spend the most money the option to pick where they want to go (not who they play) as a little incentive for those top teams who will get hurt by a salary cap. 7)International point system, I don't have this worked out at all but essentially for players over like 21 each team gets like say 100 points for like a 5 year period. Then an independent arbitrator assigns all over 21 players a value, say like Yamamoto or Sasaki would have been 50 points and a lesser guy who has to play in the minors a while is worth like 5. That way the Dodgers don't end up with the Japanese all-star team in a couple years. I would add players between 18-21 get added to the mlb draft and int. players under 18 keep the same system of pool money.
  16. I think Mahle will cost at least double that, he had a 2.18 era in 16 starts. I am pretty sure he is healthy, at least it looked like he made a start or 2 in September. I like Joe Ryan a lot but my guess is that it would take a package that gets close to what the Red Sox gave up for Crochet to get him.
  17. His minor league strikeout numbers look pretty good. It might take some work to keep him on the 40man all summer but it looks like a Hoby style pitcher to me.
  18. You are probably right however I would guesstimate that he would be in the range of 2-24 to 3-45 after last year, whereas if he had a really good year he could have made a case for like Hader money. So if he wants to bet on himself he could take a 1 year deal to get back to that top tier money. However I will concede that someone like the Dodgers would give him 1/15 guaranteed and in that case and my incentive idea doesn't work.
  19. Trade Freddy and Perkins to Boston for Jarren Duran Boston adds to the rotation and clears up their OF logjam. We get 3 years of a young top tier LF who checks all the Brewer boxes. Then go big Aaron Ashby, Trevor Megill, and Issac Collins for Ketel Marte. The Dbacks get 3 impact players for a big time talent that may be on the outside in the club house. Sign Devin Williams 1/6 with incentives to 15 million Devin's underlying numbers were still good and with Megill on the move in the previous trade would add some late inning experience. He could build himself back up in Milwaukee for a better run at free agency. Turang, Chourio, Yelich, Marte, Contreras, Duran, Vaughn, Frelick, Durbin would be crazy better. Those deals also leave the farm systems almost untouched and even though the rotation lacks an ace it is extremely deep and talented.
  20. I say go with Quintana, the vet likely has the best chance of pulling something out his behind. On top of that after seeing Misi and our other flame throwers yesterday Q's 90-93 should have them of balance.
  21. I would think we could get value pretty close to what we got for Burnes. Corbin had a higher ceiling with a Cy Young but Freddy has been ultra consistent and reliable and makes like 1/2 what Burnes made. I think we could get one of the Mets mlb ready pitching prospects and IF. Say like Brandon Sproat and Ronny Mauricio or Jonah Tong and Mitch Voit. Obviously a bidding war would be nice.
  22. I guess when I said overpaying I was thinking more like in a trade. I do agree that Naylor would be towards/at the top of the FA list for me as well, even with Vaughn.
  23. I don't know what percentage of owners are needed to pass things but my guess is that around 15-20 teams would probably be in favor of a more firm cap just because there are around that many teams that won't likely be over the cap. So even though the Dodgers, Yankees, Phillies, Mets of the world will be super against it I do think there is a decent chance the votes could be passed.
  24. I agree, I am glad someone else started this. By my count the Dodgers currently pay 365 million a year (avv) to non arbitration players (near $400 with arby) 14 players over 10 million per year compared to our 2, 7 players over 20 per 1 to our 1. Basically the only home grown talent is Will Smith, Kershaw, Pages, Sheehan, Dreyer, Vesia, Caperius. If you want to give them credit for the development of Max Muncy I would be ok with that. I just don't see how they can't put in better salary cap, on top of that they should also put in a salary floor so teams like the Pirates, A's, and Marlins (among others) aren't consistently ripped off by cheap ownership. Maybe put in a rule where owners who make over a certain amount in profit lose portions of there revenue sharing.
  25. After the 2 past games I am all for overpaying for a big bat or two. I know I am over-reacting but eh.
