I do think there will be one of those IF prospects that will move to the OF. Maybe for 2027 though it really depends on how fast they move and if Durbin and Ortiz become long term every day pieces.

Pretty sure Spencer is a Senior and wouldn't be able to go back so that is why we could go way below slot (with no combine to maintain 75%). Also with his injury (April shoulder surgery) he might miss the college season next year anyway.

I wouldn't have a problem adding a high end closer however I don't think Dominguez would be it. He has a 3.31 era (3.45 fip) which probably puts him like him in our 7/8 inning role at best. He also wasn't great the past 2 years (solid not great). I do think we have better internal options 1)Ashby. In this case Woody would go the rotation, Patrick to long man, Ashby to 8/9 role depending on lineup 2) Misi. Misi has about 20 innings to meet last year's innings so basically the team will have to reduce his innings pace at some point. I think the bullpen the last month and playoffs would be the likely spot. You could possibly make the same argument for Logan Henderson here as well. For the record I like the idea of making him a reliever like Hader from his 1st year plus just put him in the biggest spot of the game regardless of inning. 3) Uribe. By making Uribe part time close they can audition him for the role long term and semi reduce the workload (has not had any long seasons because of injuries). Someone like Yoho could the take Uribe's current role. 4) Woody. At this point he is a ways away from being a closer. But we know he has a bulldog mentality and likely could maintain velocity (95+) in shorter bullpen appearances. With the rotation going well he may need to go to the pen anyway. 5) Trade. I think better options include Finnegan, Bednar (iffy), Bautista (much higher price), Estevez (not as much a Baustista but higher), Rasiel Iglesias (if he puts together a good July), Chapman, and maybe a surprise. If we think a reliever can put us over the top we need to get a high quality one.

Crow, Seigler, and EMJ for me. There probably will be quite a lot of 40 man spots with the big group of free agents leaving and other borderline 40 man guys. There are a bunch of guys like Cornielle and Garcia I would like to keep but aren't 40 man guys. No one will take either in the rule 5 or at least keep them all year. Getting vet catching isn't to hard. I would think it would be easy to sign guys like Alfaro and Miller in free agency. It would be nice to keep both (and others) but by no means a must.

I like Fitzgerald, he probably ends up as more a utility guy for us. In the half year he play last year, he was on track to be a 25/30 player (not much power this year). Defensively he is pretty good at 2B, was below average at SS, and play an OK OF. I am sure he could play some 3B and 1B if needed. Moving out of SF is also usually an upgrade for bats as well. I doubt SF would sell cheap but I could get behind a Hall for Fitzgerald type deal. Maybe extend it to like Hall and Boeve for Fitzgereld and Bo Davidson.
-
Wow he really has had a rough year. He was a pretty universal top 20 prospect and now he really shouldnt be in any top 100. He doesn't have near the value he did at the beginning of the season. I doubt the O's would give up on him cheap, especially with them likely to trade O'Hearn and maybe Urias. There should be big league everyday playing time for him for the last 2 months. My Mayo offer would be like Boeve, KC Hunt, and maybe a small 3rd piece.
-
I like Ward enough that I wouldn't be opposed to him, I think the problem is that he probably would be the right handed hitting platoon in LF with Collins and/or Perkins. I just don't think he would play a lot, the power would be nice but as a negative defender limited to LF the past couple years the isn't much playing time to make an impact. He would be nice as a late inning pinch hitter but as a barely .200 hitter that is shaky as well.
-
At 45-36 the team seems on the rise. The rotation and bullpen looks solid and deep. Woody, Cortes, and Perkins aren't to far from returning. Ortiz and Durbin have been playing well making the teams potential needs as the trade deadline gets closer much smaller. My only pressing need is to give William Contreras a short IL stint to get his thumb right and bat a supercharge.

Meh, I wouldn't trade Black just because his value is so low. I still like him as a 4th OF utility guy. If we could get a solid mlb player (probably on an expiring deal) I would be OK trade but I think his value is too low for that. Burke is a big no right now. I think he will eventually be a top 100 prospect when he gets back to hitting fingers. Trading him now doesn't make sense to me. I think at the very least he is a DH/1B everyday player when Yeli is done. If we could get near top 100 prospect value for Wilken moving him wouldn't be a bad idea. Like someone else said, I'd prefer to trade Boeve. I am not the biggest Quintana fan but he does have a long time to develop so we would again need a good price for him. I think Crow has a good shot at being our next Patrick/Myers style pitcher if not next year maybe in 2. For me it is another player with higher long term value then trade value. The guys I would try and push would be CarRod (when healthy), Kuehner/Cornieller/Hunt maybe Wichrowski at a better return(1 of them), Boeve, Juan Baez (i know very little value), an mlb reliever (Koenig/Hall) and if we need a higher value prospect maybe Braylon Payne (would be for a difference maker not on an expiring).

I think the White Sox did it well with Crochet last year. Get him the 7-8 more normal starts to like 120 and then hit the brakes a bit. Limit him to 50 or so pitches every start after that and steal extra days off when possible. It wouldn't be the worst to make him a reliever the last month or so but I would rather keep him a little stretched out for the playoffs. If managed correctly like 150 innings wouldn't be crazy.
-
To risky, -0.6 WAR, .229/.301/.368, also negative fielding stats with 5 years 75 million left on deal. Even if they just gave him to us for nothing he probably doesn't play ahead of Collins at this point of the year.

Brock Wilken and Luke Adams: Very Unique, Very Alike
jay87shot replied to Steven's topic in Brewers Minor League Talk
I am excited for some combination of Adams, Wilken, Boeve, Burke, Bitonti, EMJ maning 1st and 3rd for the next 5-6 years. I am convinced there are at least 2 all-stars in that group. I was hoping to see some promotion and see if Wilken/Adams could put up even better numbers in AAA and Burke could do well in the dreaded pitching friendly AA environment. Bitonti with the homer barrage could even be ready for Wisconsin by August or so. -
Here would be a great draft for me. 1st-20)P Kruz Schoolcraft. I heard tons of stuff about a bunch of college arms with helium the Brewers could be interested in. However the 6'8" flame thrower has enough in common with Misiorowski that we would be a perfect fit. Comp-32)P Jack Bauer. Hey may as well pick 2 flame throwing HS picks. I feel like both of these guys are being majorly slept on. With thier raw stuff on how well our development of pitchers has been I am in love with this. Add in that we hopefully wouldn't have to go to far overslot (hopefully based on rankings). 2nd-59) 2B/3B Mitch Voit. Super successful, 5 tool potential Midwest player. Add in that he is still 20 and from Wisconsin I am all for it. Comp-68)P Nate Snead. Used as a multi-inning reliever at Tennesse. Has a big fastball with a solid 5 pitch mix. He should be a guy to easily move to starting. He is ranked in the 140s, so since this is the Levonas pick there is a high rate to sign well underslot. Also another Wisconsin HS kid, double huge arm HS school pitchers and then double Wisconsin kids. 3rd-94)P Reid Worley. HS pitcher that had big spin rates at the draft combine. Ranked in the 4-7 rounds so a potential high upside HS pitcher who could even save some money. https://www.mlb.com/news/craziest-pitch-grip-reid-worley-mlb-draft 4th-OF Damian Bravo. In 2024 lead the big 12 in hitting. Didn't hit as well but power and speed increased. Could be a 5 tool player if it all comes together. 5th-Aidan Teel. Another successful OF from a big conference. Walked as much as he struck out. Not as loud tools but he and Bravo aren't to far off from some of the college OF ranked in the top 50. Another double up, this time on underrated OF that could move fast threw the system and probably save a little money as well. 6-10 college arms/bats. Save money in this portion of the draft. Usually we go mostly pitching but getting a couple bays might be helpful. 11-20 Draft a couple harder to sign/ better ranked HS players just in case one of the earlier HS pitchers don't sign. Otherwise just amass signable talent like they have done well with.

C=Kelly 2.1 WAR 48 games (platoon with Amaya 1.0 WAR 27 games), 1B=Busch 2.2 WAR 72 Games, 2B=Hoerner 2.7 WAR 73 games, SS=Swanson 2.3 WAR 76 GAMES, 3B=Shaw 0.9 WAR 47 games, OF= Happ 1.8 WAR, 68 games, PCA 4.1 WAR 76 games, Tucker 3.4 WAR, 76 games DH=Susuki 1.7 WAR, 73 games. I agree that the Cubs offense has been amazing but also they haven't had any injuries and basically everyone is overachieving. That is a lineup achieving at 4-8 WAR pace at every position. Yes, the Cubs are really really good, however the bench isn't very good (AAA does have good young prospects) and their pitching staff is iffy. But at some point they are due for a rough 10 game stretch where we can catch up. Tallion isn't scary, Boyd is on pace to pitch more innings than in the past 3 years combined and still not overly scary (but has been great), Horton and Brown have good stuff but haven't been overly effective, and Imanaga is solid no shade there. There pen is also overachieving I like Palancia but after that, meh. Drew Pomeranz hasn't given up a run in 22 games, I doubt he can even throw another 22 games with all the injuries he has had. Add in that their farm system hasn't been quiet lived up to the pre-season hype, still pretty solid but more like a borderline top 10 system as compared to a mostly unanimous top 5 before the year.

When do we talk about a Misiorowski extension?
jay87shot replied to BrewerFan's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
Ashby and Peralta had a little over a year each when they were extended. With the injury risk of pitching I would say that around this time next year would sound good to me. I like the idea of like 6 years and than have a multi-tiered option system. Say the option for the team is 3/60 but for every top 5 Cy young finish the option goes up 4 million a year. That would give us a chance to extend him and Misi some piece of mind and incentive to do well. I think Julio Rodriguez did something like that but more complicated. -
Thanks for letting me down easy. Maybe in a couple years when he has less control.
-
I would see if we can do a trade to add a 1st late. Here are some ideas. Beal and 29 for Lillard I doubt anyone wants Beal, if Pheonix is in full sell it might have to add #29 to get rid of him. Also Dame could have some value next summer on an expiring deal. It would also give us a name and shooter to pair with Giannis. Nurkic, Grant Williams, and 2 seconds (33,34) for Kuzma and Pat C and heavily protected 2031 (like top 20). Giannis gets front court help, this would depend alot on how the Hornets think Kuzma would fit in with Mark Williams, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges, and #4 (Edgescomb or Bailey) (a lot better than Nurkic in my opinion). 27) C Danny Wolf/Maxime Reynauld Both are big man who would have a year with Nurkic to learn. Wolf is a good passer with some shooting potential and Reynauld is more of a Brook style perimeter player. 33)PG Kam Jones. I think Kam can be alot like Kevin Porter, we need ball handling playmaker bad. 34)PF Johni Broom/Eric Dixon Another big guy to help Giannis, both would assume some of the Bobby Portis role. Broom would be the physicality end and Dixon would be more the scoring option. 47)GTyrese Proctor A good shooter who could play either guard spot. Another guy with lots of experience to be able to play right away. Add in Tyus or Tre Jones to play point (I wouldn't mind Russ Westbrook either) and a couple cheaper wings like last year. Not great but it does get us younger and adds some upside. Tre/Tyus Jones, Beal, FA, Giannis. Nurkic Kam Jones, AJ Green, 2 rookie bigs, FA wing, Proctor, Smith

I like that idea, he is young enough and the stuff has been good enough that he could get us a nice piece back. In reality he is like our 10th starter once Woody and Cortes are back and will likely be a long relief option for use the next couple years.
-
I bring this up every year around now and know that it isn't going to happen. So let me down easy. Jose Ramirez with 3 and 1/2 years left, at almost 33. Any chance the Guardians would trade him? I get that the Guardians owe him a lot for taking a reduced deal and he his the best Guardian since Thome/Manny. However other than Steven Kwan they have no offense and even there pitching is iffy. Pratt, Quero, Wilken/Adams, Hunt, and Wichrowski They get 3 bat upgrades and 2 upside pitchers. We get a piece that gives us a WS chance and we could trade him in 2 years and get most of that prospect value back.
-
We have 8 reliable options in the big league bullpen with the 2 upside lefty long men (Ashby/Hall). Add in Yoho, Peguero, Payamps, and Hudson in AAA and we have magnificent bullpen depth to trade a bullpen option or two if it means getting something valuable. I think Koenig is miscast as the 8th inning guy. I kind of like moving Ashby into the 7/8th inning spot with Uribe and having Koenig be more of the 5/6th inning guy with Mears and matchups.
-
Well by moving to Turang to SS they would be fixing SS and then Ortiz and Durbin would split 3rd and utility. Possibly improving both IF spots. Right now Ortiz and Durbin have been good enough to get by. My thinking with Albies is that he is possibly the best power bat we could get. Eugenio Suarez is better but the Dbacks are 5 games or so ahead of the Braves and I went with a fresh idea.
