  1. The Jays have some interesting IF depth with Vladdy, Bichette, Horwitz, Wagner, Clement, Barger, and Martinez. My thought would be that would want to keep Wagner for 2B and have Clement, Barger, and Martinez battle out 3B. Horwitz plays more 1B/OF and Vladdy DH's more. I would love Wagner and probably just make him the everyday 2B, moving Turang to SS. I do doubt the Jays would trade Wagner, however Clement, Martinez, or Barger might be gettable at a decent value. Clement was worth over 3 WAR and Barger and Martinez both were/are decent prospects who are ready. Clement doesn't walk at all but is a good fielder and Barger and Martinez both have power but might not hit enough. They do need some relief depth maybe Peguero and Canadian Dylan O'Rae for Martinez or Barger wouldn't be a bad idea.
  2. Great write up, Boeve is one I kind of hope doesn't reconfigure his swing for more power. As mentioned in the article he could probably get more power numbers if he lifts the ball more. However I think this might be a case of if it's not broke don't fix it. I think long term be could be a really nice 1B defensively. It will be really interesting to see how the Black, Wilken. Boeve, Adams, Bitonti 3B/1B future shakes out.
  3. I know we have done the Yeli trade back and forth the past couple years. The where would he accept a trade to and who would take on his contract etc. etc.. For just now lets say he would accept a trade to anywhere what would be some interesting deals? 1) Yeli to Seattle for Luis Castillo We get a top of the rotation arm and the Mariners get an badly needed offense upgrade. 2) Yeli to Toronto for Kevin Gausman and a 10-20 prospect Similar to the Castillo deal but we get a little sweetener because Gausman is a little more risky in my opinion. 3) Yeli and Williams (prospects) to Texas for Marcus Siemen and Nate Lowe I doubt the Rangers trade Semien but they have some infield depth that they could turn into OF/DH and a closer. We get 2 perfect players for our team. 4)Mets for Jeff McNeil (and prospects) Basically the Mets would be taking on salary and we would get long term salary relief, a versatile vet for 3B or utility, and some prospects. Not a huge fan 5) Dodgers for Miguel Rojas and Bobby Miller (more?) The Dodgers have all the money in the world so why not. 6) Padres for Jake Cronenworth and prospects I dont want anything to do with Manny, Tatis, or Bogeartz, Cronenworth is versatile enough to help at 1B/2B and maybe 3B. I'm not a huge fan but the Pads have OF holes potentially. 7) for Robbie Ray and prospects The Giants have been looking for a big name and have some extra pitching. Ray isn't my favorite but has some potential ace history. 8)Yeli for Arenado I don't think this makes a ton of sense for St. Louis since Arenado has been healthy but maybe we add one of our 3B prospects to get closer. They do have Gorman and Walker who are better suited for 3B then 2B or the OF/1B. 9) Yeli for Carlos Rodon (Yanks eat 10 milly a year) I guess this could make some sense if the Yanks lose Soto and can sign a pitcher. (I can't see Yeli accept a NY trade). There might be a few more.
  4. My guess would be that if we did a Devin for Bohm deal there would be some secondary pieces going one way or another but nothing huge, maybe like a AAA reliever, utility guy, non-top 20 organizational prospect, or cash. What about Williams to San Fran for LaMonte Wade and a relief prospect like Trent Harris. We get a Bauers/Sanchez replacement and a high end relief prospect while San Fran gets Devin without giving up any major pieces.
  5. Yophery has a 5 tool ceiling, hopefully we see him get close to 15/15 next year and will be a potential top 100 prospect. What do you all envision his ceiling in the pros, like a 20/20 player with a above average glove or is he to far away to tell if the power and baserunning will improve. I like the path of a level a year for him since he is so young, That would put him in the bigs at 22, unless he goes nuts before then.
  6. Williams might be able to get a top 100 propsect but not anyone in the top 50. For one year no one will likely give up 6 years of control of a big prospect. The price for a good reliever is still fine but gone are the days where 1 years of Aroldis Chapman got a top 25 prospect and 3 other pieces. If we can't get a 3B I am thinking of a Hader type return, 2 organizational top 10 prospects and a 3rd piece (not counting Lamet).
  7. I like DL Hall in the Bryse Wilson role, he seems like a good multi-inning reliever who can spot start and might be a decent extra innings and 2 out guys on base pitcher (if command is ok). I don't worry about the fastball velocity long term but more that it seems to be flat and when he gets behind the flatter fastball is to juicy for hitters weather its 92 or 95.
  8. The Rangers have lots of money coming of the books and were only like 13 million over the salary threshold. I can't see them making any huge moves. I could see someone like Nate Lowe or Adolis Garcia being traded but the Rangers will likely have like 80 million or more to fill a couple rotation spots and half of the bullpen.
  9. No one is going to take Russ Smith or Darrien Miller in the Rule 5 draft and keep either for the year. I would bet a lot that Hoby is either traded or non tendered. I think it would be nice to get down to 38 or 39 guys because you never now what other teams will do or who could be had in a trade. The past few years the Dodgers and Rays had roster overflows and trade some nice pieces away at cheaper rates to get young non roster guys.
  10. He was nearly a .300 hitter for the 1st half of the year. I dont think it would be crazy to get to 100 ops+ next year and like 110 the next year.
  11. What is Blake Perkins trade value? He was nearly a 2 WAR player as a 4th OF and has a lot going for him. Switch hitter, improved average over .20 points, gold glove calibar defense, cheap and controllable, and good base-running. Obviously he has a ton of value to us with Mitchell and Yeli's injury history but he could really be looked at as our 5th OF next year. Would anyone give us a young quality IF for him or upside prospect. Would it make more sense to trade someone like Sal who probably is regarded with higher value but produced in the same realm as Perk.
  12. It sounded like we were close on Shota Imagana so it is possible. I don't know if this guy is on the Imagana level but maybe close, I will have to watch some YouTube clips. Has anyone heard anything about the 3B Munetaka Murakami coming stateside? I know he isn't due until next offseason but he was trying to work a way with his club to become a FA this offseason. I know his last 2 season haven't been huge but in 2022 he had the greatest season ever in the league. Huge power at 3rd base would be ideal if he isn't to crazy expensive. I think he is only like 25.
  13. Great article, I knew Turang had a rough 2nd half but I didn't realize it was quiet as long and as a bad when looking at the stats provided. I don't as much about the average but with his speed and pesky 2 strike approach I would like to see him be able to increase the walk total. 50 walks isn't bad but if he can get to 70 with his speed that would be ideal. Since he was in the minors I though his offense ceiling was around .275/.360/.400. It seemed like he worked really hard in the offseason and I hope he continues that. If he can just make some baby steps with the bat to stay consistent there is a 7 WAR potential with how good the glove and baserunning is. Add in expected improvements from other young guys like Sal, Joey, Mitchell (health), and of course Chourio it is scary what this lineup could be in 2 years especially if Yelich can stay healthy.
  14. What would we think about Ronny Mauricio? He has power and speed to go with solid fielding, he is listed 6'3" 166 so with the missed season he should have bulked up to add more strength. With the lost season my guess is his value isn't sky high and the Mets have lots of IF talent that is likely ahead of him. I am sure there are some guys Stearns still values that could make sense, maybe Black for Mauricio straight up. He hit .292/.346/.506 in AAA in 2023 23 HR/24 SB with a decent 100 ab's in the bigs.
  15. I think for me the shock was how little the CWS got for Fedde, Kopech, and Pham. The Dodgers got a steal because they got Edman and Kopech who had a 1.13 ERA in 29 innings for them and he has a year of control as well. I think the Adames suitors will be 1. Braves 2. Giants 3. Surprsie team like Seattle, Detriot, or Boston the Dodgers have a rotation hole or two they likely need to address before SS.
  16. Great write up, I am glad Hunt made the top 20. I am surprised not to see a couple names but maybe they snuck in the top 15. I keep saying this but wow how deep is our system that someone like Wichrowski and Lara are 19/20 and guys like Arienamo, Baez, and Blake Burke are like not in the top 20.
  17. I know it is a bit early but I love me some draft. Here are some of my favorite prospects not necessarily all 1st rounders. C Parker Brailsford Alabama, love the heart and athleticism even if he is really small DT Deone Walker Kentucky, A giant who had 7.5 sacks last year, a couple this year I believe CB Tacario Davis Arizona, 6'4" 20 year old corner, only 1 pick but his combine will tell alot WR Tai Felton Maryland, Destroying it at Maryland this year, Maryland has a sneaky great track record with receivers. WR Jayden Higgins Iowa St., another big guy who is producing, combine will determine alot WR Will Sheppherd Colorado, I think the Buffalo's will over feed Hunter and Sheppherd will get overlooked solid across the board. OLB Jalon Carter Georgia, Probably skyrocketing up boards from a 2-4 rounder to 1-2 round territory after the huge game against Texas but extremely skilled I can't say I have watched a ton of college at this point or looked at a ton of the prospects so let me know who else is of interest.
  18. What do we think a rotation looks like 1)Mcgee 20, Frietag 15, Hunter 5 2)Klesmit 30, Hunter 10 3)Blackwell 25, Tonje 15 4)Winter 15, Amos 15, Gilmore/Ilver 10 5) Crowl 30, Winter 10 I am forgetting someone important.
  19. You could add Sal Frelick to the internal options, I don't think he is the answer but even if he can give say 30-40 games and open up some pt in the of that could help. I would at Rengifo for sure, maybe Jorge Polanco on the trade/free agent side. Berti is an intreging option I really hadn't thought about, he really fits our style of player.
  20. Well done everyone, only a couple oddball things here or there but nothing worth arguing. Is the 1st post the cumulative results?
  21. Here is like my 8th offseason proposition 1) Devin to Texas for 2B/3B Justin Foscue and P Winston Santos 2)Trade Black and Peguero for Jesus Luzardo 3) Trade Rae and Wilson to Boston for P Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz and P Jedixson Paez 4) Trade Chad Patrick, Tate Kuehner, and Dylan O'Rae for P Pete Fairbanks 5) Sign 1B Carlos Santana 1/5 Trade Hoby and Bauers for whatever we can get 1)2B Turang 2)C Contreras 3)DH/LF Yeli 4)LF Chourio 5)CF Mitchell 6)1B Hoskins 7)LF Sal 8)SS Ortiz 9) 3B Foscue Bench) Haase, Santana, Perkins, Mone/Collins/Dunn Sal plays a bunch of 3B letting Yeli play some OF and Santana plays the Bauers role letting Hoskins DH more. Peralta, Woody, Luzardo, Myers, Civale, Ashby 6 man rotation the 1st month or so than onto a 5 man once Woody, Luzardo, and Ashby are fully built up as starters. Maybe you have Ashby and Hall just piggy back a bit but either way. Megill, Fairbanks, Payamps, Koenig, Hudson, 2 of Yoho/Hall/Mears/Uribe That is a pen with 6 or 7 potential 7-9 inning relievers
  22. I agree that early in the count he needs to be hunting 2B's at least and some more HR will happen. No weak 2 hoppers on 0 or 1 strike counts. His 2 strike approach is fine, but he needs more than 28 xbh. Both Frelick and Turang should be 35 2B guys with their speed.
  23. Mead, Julian, Baty, Nolan Gorman, Jordan Walker, Spencer Torkelson, Vaughn Grissom, Noelvi Marte among IF Edward Cabrera, Emerson Hancock probably more pitchers but can't think of any more of the top of my head.
  24. If he was cheap but I doubt the Rockies eat any salary. He strikes out a ton and hitting only .240 at Coors means like .220 elsewhere. I am not against it but I would part with anything major.
  25. My offer would be Peguero, Wilken, and a reliever like Justin Yeager. I like Baty but with no options he isn't the most surefire thing.
