  1. The truth hurts. I know.
  2. No it doesn't vindicate Stearns. It condemns him. Philly would not have even made the playoffs had Stearns not torpedoed the team. That could have been the Brewers moving on to the NLCS. But no.
  3. Game 4 NLDS. Hader gets the save. 1 IP, 0 hits, 0 walks, 3 K's. Taylor Rogers, Dinelson Lamet, and Robert Gasser did not pitch today so no results to report for them. I suggest changing the thread title to "Hader VERY GOOD for Padres. Stearns VERY BAD for Brewers."
  4. How can you decouple Stearns discussion from the Hader trade? It is Stearns' trade of Hader that torpedoed the Brewers season.
  5. I think both Counsell and Stearns need to go. I think they've topped out in their potential. Let's get some fresh ideas in here and win a championship. Hopefully the next GM isn't someone who trades the Brewers long time closer and beloved teammate at the deadline when the team is in 1st place in the division.
  6. Hader gets the save (with a 1 run lead) vs. Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLDS. 1 IP, 0 hits, 0 walks, 2 K's. Taylor Rogers, Dinelson Lamet, and Robert Gasser did not pitch yesterday so no results to report for them. ?
  7. That magnificent trio is what gave the Brewers a punchers chance in any playoff scenario in 2022. It disgusts me that there are people on this board who think it's just as well that the Brewers missed the playoffs "because they weren't going anywhere anyway." That defeatist attitude makes me want to puke.
  8. This was Stearns acting like a fantasy baseball owner and being oblivious to the idea that his actions were going to gut the team like a fish. People on this board recognized it the day the trade happened. People are not robots. Hopefully Stearns realizes that now.
  9. Interesting article and I'll probably buy the book as I like both Maddon and Verducci a lot. It seems to me that with many things in life we experience over-corrections for things that need correcting. For scores of decades we had managers who scratched their nuts, spit tobacco juice on the ground, and made decisions based on their "gut." Now we have Ivy League charlatans who run front offices with reams of data spilling out their ears and little knowledge of how the game is played or how to effectively interact with players and coaches. I think the right way to operate a team is found in between these two extremes.
  10. Which isn't a bad thing at all.
  11. Because everyone knows Hader pitched poorly in August. It's why this thread was started.
  12. Here are the stats for Hader vs. Rogers for all September/October appearances: Hader: 0.87 ERA, 10.1 IP, 0.581 WHIP Rogers: 6.94 ERA, 11.2 IP, 1.543 WHIP David Stearns totally screwed this team at the deadline. Shameful. Gasser and/or Ruiz better turn out to be worth it...
  13. You're right. Since the turn of the century, pitcher's arms fall off after 100 pitches.
  14. It's true! Trevor Rosenthal 0.0 WAR Matt Bush -0.5 WAR Taylor Rogers -0.6 WAR The Brewers would have been better off calling up some chumps from AAA than trading for and using Bush and Rogers.
  15. Stearns needs to go. He did well when he was exchanging Melvin's veterans for lottery tickets, some of which hit, but in the last couple of years he has shown himself to be a poor GM. Intolerable for a team like the Brewers. Fire Stearns and let Matt Arnold run the team and let's see if things improve.
  16. David Stearns killed this team at the deadline. If I owned the Brewers he would be fired. Inexcusable.
  17. If they reduce payroll for 2023 I'm done following this team. It's time for fans to stop putting up with this crap.
  18. Zero World Series wins. The goal is to assemble a World Series winning team.
  19. Agreed. A total kick to the crotch. I can't even imagine how angry the players must be.
  20. I think we underestimate how much real life can impact the performance of a professional athlete. Being traded, sick child, sick wife, sick parent, financial troubles, etc. Think about how terrible Jean Segura was in 2014-2015, which is when his child was sick and then passed away. A lot of people were ready to write him off but he bounced back and has put together a very nice career (27.9 bWAR). These elite athletes are at the very edge of high performance. I can see where it doesn't take much to throw things off.
  21. In his last 4 appearances Hader has pitched 4 innings, 0 ER, 3 saves. In his last 2 appearances Taylor has pitched 1.2 innings with 5 ER. Which of these two seems more likely to pitch well through the end of the season? I know I'd rather have Hader. I also think Hader would not have pitched as poorly for the Brewers as he did for the Padres (although lacking a time machine or a parallel universe I can't prove it).
  22. And Lamet, who the Brewers threw away like an expired carton of milk, has pitched well for the Rockies. 3.18 ERA in 17 innings pitched. Stearns should be ashamed of himself...
  23. Then skip it. Is it really that hard? The people who run this site are trying to create additional content for people to discuss and they get nothing but complaints. I find the criticism of these articles to be disrespectful. If you don't think they add any value DON'T CLICK ON THEM.
  24. Burnes stunk tonight vs. the Mets. No way should he be extended. Go year to year with this guy.
