    Anybody who thinks these bats are our problem is crazy. And I'm not saying you or anybody really thinks that. I see Hoskins ordered some. I suspect it will do him not one bit of good.

    Just call a spade a spade. We aren't 0-3 due to the umps or the torpedo bats. We just should be thankful that these losses only count as one each.

    I think way too much is being made out of the bats. Pretty sure Judge isn't using one and he's doing ok. Don't think Goldy is using one, etc. More ballpark and lousy pitching IMO. However if more teams start using them and the homers are flying out for everyone, I suspect MLB would outlaw them.

    Don't want to overreact and I tend to be more of the glass half empty type, but I had zero confidence in this staff from the start and thought 78 wins sounded about right.

    I hate responding to such a ridiculous discussion but as a numbers guy, it is warranted. First off, 1998 seems like an aberration on typical injury levels. But ignoring that factor, how one can compare one single season of salary lost to 18 seasons of salary lost and claim some massive increase is beyond comprehension. I would suspect 18 seasons of data would likely be a much bigger number than one, but that's just me. Let's look at 2001 versus 2015. The cost of replacing injured players rose 106% from $337M to $695 million. But player salaries rose over 86% in that same time frame. So not much of a difference. I do think teams are much more willing to IL somebody today than in the past as they look to protect their large investments but it's not like it's some massive difference that is being alleged. It's also almost certainly tied to increased TJ surgeries. Of course what any of this has to do with practice is a whole other matter.

    Since the Mets signed him two days ago, probably not an option. I probably would have preferred Rae over this guy anyway.

    Count me in the won't miss Williams camp as well. With his consistently lousy control he was too often bordering on the brink of disaster. I don't think he will age well at all. Should be fine if he can handle the pressures of New York next year but I sure wouldn't want to be the team giving him the big contract.

    Yeah I never got that one. He had one good playoff series but an overall average under .150.

    The Royals rarely make the playoffs but have gone 24-9 when they have. Then you have the Brewers, Twins and Orioles who are a collective 2 for their last 43. How is this even possible?

    I don't believe in the 3 times through either when a pitcher is rolling at the time. Too many dumb rules in baseball. Can't possibly use the eye test for anything.

    Disagree. No reason to take out a pitcher after 4 and 68 pitchers after retiring 9 straight. Maybe those balls aren't even hit in the first place off of Freddy. Somebody reaches, I don't question it.
