  1. I have no more hysteria in the tank. I'll just be quietly depressed. Thanks, bull $#!+, I mean bull PEN.
  2. I'm really praying Yelich has a whole new life in the playoffs. This season has to be killing him on the inside, though I have not read or heard any comment from him. What can he say anyway?
  3. The Brewers have never played with that mindset in the Counsell era. They always play with the bigger picture in mind. We have twice seen the Brewers flame out in the NLCS, do we want to make it a third time? I really do hope you are correct.
  4. Brewers aren't being "punked" at all this is the result of a team that has a lot less to play for right now. No reason at all to try to line up your stud pitchers to face the Cardinals at this point. This team needs to basically lose out in order to lose the division, and if they do that, that means they were playing bad enough baseball where it wasn't going to matter if they were starting Anderson twice in that stretch or not. Anderson has been serviceable enough this year where you don't expect him to give up 6 runs in 1 and 2/3rds innings. Obviously if they expected that they wouldn't have started him. Best case you get 4 solid innings out of him and are in the game, worst case is what happened tonight. Either way, your studs are still getting their rest and ready for the real games in 2 weeks. Well you already pitched two of them and they lost both games. I'm not sure what you mean but if you can't beat them with Peralta and Woodruff you sure ain't beating them with Anderson. The Cards are not the Brewers they can hit lefties.

WHAT the FOXTROT!!? A lot less to play for?!??!? I sure hope this is not the Club's mindset. Tomorrow is NEVER guaranteed. We should have been sharpening our cutlasses and "stud pitchers" to slash these birds to ribbons. I'd rather the Brewers have my miserable mindset than to as be complacent as that. ~~~~ Several years ago, the Yankees beat the Red Sox "20-something to Not Much" in the ALCS. The Sox won the World Series that year.
  6. How appropriate that the last radio advertisement was for a dumpster company. OK. I'll done. Better luck ahead!
  7. I'm not even listening to this garbage any more. No reason to pitch Anderson in this game unless you're looking to find the bottom of the Abyss. I hope we have hit bottom and that there's no way but up from the bottom of this cesspool. Ok. I'm still listening. But, you know...
  8. So he'll probably go through their whole batting order just once, i.e., 1 inning? Sorry, I have already exhausted my melt-down quota.
  9. I'm IN! I appreciate the calmer heads around here who are explaining how these last 2 lame showings do not signify the beginning of the Greatest Collapse in Baseball History. But the great thing about these boards is that they allow bums like me to give full vent to our pessimism and frustration --however irrational-- without breaking things in our homes or alienating our immediate family. I'm just taking advantage of the opportunity. For me, it's the trend that disturbs. The Cardinals are in a steady groove, playing fundamentally solid, intelligent, error free, baseball that's just good enough to win, especially in light of our failure to manifest the required brains, skill, and nerve at the plate. Yesterday, their 1st run came without a hit. Get 'em on (walk); get 'em over (steal & ground out); get 'em in (sac fly). Their second run started the same way, and they needed just one single, if I recall. That's bland but it wins games. By contrast, the Brewers seem to be drifting into their earlier season routine, i.e., pitching gems going for naught because they can't make or steal runs... unless the opposition boots the ball around or someone hits the odd dinger --or GS in the bottom of the 9th. I'm tired of hearing the radio guys say that a batter had a good pitch to hit but "just missed it," probably because he was trying to hit a 5-run homer. Even assuming we hold on to the division, there's no momentum going into the playoffs. There's time to find the groove, of course, and I am absolutely painting the bleakest picture possible. I hope and trust that the attitude in the clubhouse and the dugout is much better than mine, because mine is awful.
  10. This has devolved into what we saw earlier this year. Decent pitching. No offense (can't manufacture a run and don't even really try to.) Lose 2-1. Pathetic. What good is getting 10 Ks if your teammates let you down at the plate. Did I say pathetic? Cards play real baseball; we pitch and watch and moan. 2-0 might as well be 20-0.
  11. It's mostly a reaction to who we are playing. Plus the only game that really matters is the one you are playing right now. Who gives cuss if the Cardinals had a lousy June or we had a great August (or whatever)? For the last couple of weeks, we have been pretty good, but they have been red hot.
  12. Well they were below .500 as recently as August 9th, so I guess they’ve lost a few times as well. And will lose again.
  13. Get 'em on; get 'em over; get 'em in. Yes. I guess that is fundamental baseball. Along with catch it and throw it. I'm glad the clubhouse doesn't have my $#!++y attitude! (Having been a NO Saints fan for 40+ years I expect the absurd.)
  14. And horrific defense by Cleveland. Sadly true. We can strike 'em out and sometimes hit 'em out. But there's not a lot of old (or new) school "fundamental" NL baseball. And I'm kinda sad that Yelich is not in the lineup. Not because it's a bad move, but because it isn't. OK. Uek is talking. PLAY BALL! And yeah, I'm no "fundamental" baseball expert, but it seems like "hit it where they ain't" and play solid defense in part of it. But there's a really good reason I'm not the manager. So let's go with what we've got.
