  1. Am I correct that these current cuts leaves the 40-man at just 39? (since L. Perdomo didn't need to be added) Stearns to look to add before Opening Day?
  2. To the backup 1st baseman question… If it’s decided that Hiura needs some more time in AAA to continue working on off season changes, is Tyler White an option? He has done it in limited games in the big leagues (years ago) and had a strong season in Triple A last year (even as a teammate to Rowdy for a bit) He’s one I want to keep an eye on to see if he could help at some point during the season.
  3. 1.) Where are you from? Rural SW Wisconsin. Been in the area most of my life (other than 5 years near Manitowoc) 2.) Age Range? Mid 50's 3.) How long have you been frequenting BrewersFan.net? A long time (even if I don't post much). My avatar shows off my kids that are now 24 and 16 4.) Highest level of baseball/softball played? Just little league stuff as well as a few years as an assistant coach for high school teams. 5.) Favorite Brewers Player, and favorite underappreciated Brewers player, and if you want, favorite current Brewers player? Favorite of all time is Cecil Cooper (my son was smart enough to name his dog "Cecil" to stay on my good side after years of stories). Big Bill Hall fan as well as Carlos Gomez over the years. Fell in love with Hall after his back-to-back games of beating the Reds on a homerun and squeeze bunt. 6.) Favorite Twitter follows? Mostly education stuff as I'm a former teacher that has moved to the "dark side" as a school superintendent. 7.) Other interests outside of baseball. I do play by play for our high school's live feed of basketball and softball. I even got to do play by play for Madison and Rockford tv last year for the Beloit Snappers first game at ABC Field. My son was in charge of their media last year and they found out about 2 hours before the opening game that the radio feed wouldn't come over the tv. 8.) Favorite part of BrewerFan.net.. The fact that you can learn about just about anything.
  4. I think so
  5. VOGEL-BOMB! Still believe he can play a big role in the playoffs
  6. If this means I never see Jace Peterson listed as a starting OF again - I'm all for it.
  7. Weston Wilson?
  8. Not to get too far off topic, but has there been any update on Fisher's injury timeline?
  9. With plans to still honor Hank Aaron...how about moving the game to Milwaukee?
  10. Got the 2nd dose of Moderna yesterday afternoon. 17 hours in and no ill effects yet (Knocks on wood). Get through the rest of the day good today and then looking forward to an exciting day at Am Fam tomorrow!
  11. We actually moved back to cable yesterday for the first time in MANY years (after DISH network and then Youtube TV). It came down to the fact that by bundling with our current internet provider, the cost was very similar to YTTV. We will see how it goes (although yesterday's game wasn't the best to finally be able to watch on FoxSports Wisconsin).
  12. Got our email today as 20-game SSH. Sounds like we still get the normal games in our Sunday Plus package. We are still in the same section as normal but in row 5 instead of row 2. Much better than I expected. Disappointed as we typically get opening day in the season seat holders early purchase but no mention of that in the emails today.
  13. 20-game ticket holder and still no word of any type.
  14. What's everyone's Plan B? Spend on starting pitching? Grab another 3rd baseman? Shaw? Franco? Lamb? Gyorko?
  15. [sarcasm]We could bring back Sogard.[/sarcasm]
  16. Only benefit to moving Arcia would be saving the $2 million (every bit may help to fit Turner in)
  17. Talk of a new offer from MLB to the players 154 game season. Start a month later and go an extra week in the fall. Expanded playoffs.
  18. [sarcasm]Oh great! Even more screen refreshing and even list productivity at work.[/sarcasm]
  19. I understand the need for the offer to "overwhelming", but wondering if it is possible to be "overwhelmed" with quantity over quality like the Pirate trades of Tallion and Musgrove? In other words, would it take a top prospect for you to be overwhelmed or would a larger number of solid prospects do it for you?
  20. In searching for a young, cheap alternative at 3rd base, I mentioned Abraham Toro of the Astros in another tread as a possibility. Switch hitter, blocked by Bregman, good AAA numbers that haven't translated as of yet in limited time in the majors. In checking out the article, Cionel Pérez, Taylor Jones and others the Astros could move in a roster crunch in the Atlantic, not only do they mention Toro but also Triple A first baseman Taylor Jones. The story includes this passage... "Jones will be 27 in December. He is a strong defender and his bat has outgrown Triple A. If the Astros don’t think they’ll have much playing time for him in 2021, there’s a case they should trade him for a lower-level prospect who doesn’t yet need to be on the 40-man roster." If we are going to be "cost conscious"/cheap at the corner infield spots, why not go young and hope to find someone that can be a long-term answer rather than signing a retread? Know the Astros need outfield help (don't know if there would be any interest in Garcia with his salary), catcher, and bullpen. What would it take to get one or both of Toro & Jones?
  21. This was one that I was hoping the Brewers would be in on (although maybe not for that price)
  22. In an article on The Atlantic posted today, Jim Bowden suggests one move for each National League team during the virtual Winter Meetings. For the Brewers, he suggests a Hader trade to Houston with a return of three pitchers: right-handed starting pitchers José Urquidy and Forrest Whitley and right-handed reliever Andre Scrubb. I've thought about the Astros as being a fit for awhile and want to throw out one name to see if others of you have any knowledge...Abraham Toro. Young third baseman (turns 24 just before Christmas). Has always played young for the league he is in. Switch hitter. Had big numbers at AA & AAA in 2019. Behind Alex Bregman in Houston. Thoughts of constructing a deal with Houston?
  23. Sports Illustrated calls Santana the 30th best free agent this year and lists the Brewers as "Best Fit" https://www.si.com/mlb/2020/10/30/mlb-free-agent-rankings-2021
  24. Are the Angels a possibility for Hader? New GM coming in looking to make a "splash" Surrounding cast to fill in around Trout Angles led the league in blown saves this season And if it is an option, is there anyway to get David Fletcher in the deal. Obviously he is behind Rendon at 3rd base, but assuming he will move permanently to shortstop with Andrelton Simmons a free agent. BUT, if we can figure a way to include him in a Hader deal it adds a leadoff hitter that is coming into his prime years (26 years old), that doesn't strike out often, and is cost-controlled (not arby eligible until 2022) Is there anyway to make a match?
