  1. Hernandez gives up a well hit single to right field knocking in another run. 2-0 T-Rats lead. Hernandez has been hit hard this inning and lacked control of his off-speed stuff. Tough sledding.
  2. RHP Joseph Hernandez has run into some control hiccups here in the bottom of the 2nd. After a walk to load the bases, he corked off a first pitch wild pitch about 3 feet behind the left handed batter and straight to the back stop. T-Rats trail 1-0.
  3. He saw those two solo jacks Returned to the dugout. And had a little convo:
  4. It's funny (well not all that funny) but there are definitively technical issues that go on in these lower levels we just don't really see at the MLB level. In the Sounds broadcast today I learned why there was no ABS system or challenge system in place this past Sunday: their designated WiFi system (each team has to have a designated WiFi strictly for the ABS and Challenge system) was down. 😅 It's good to know we literally all deal with techno snafus.
  5. Well, for whatever reason the Shuckers stream in Montgomery is unavailable (sigh) but we know LHP Brandon Knarr's 2023 struggle continues: 2 solo jacks surrendered here in the bottom of the first. His ERA now sits at an unsightly 8.59. Shuckers trail 2-0.
  6. Really awesome to see so many promotions today so early in the season. It's nice to see the organization taking advantage of a run of success and rewarding these guys with salary promotions; new levels of difficulty; and a new challenge overall. Here's hoping they all hit the ground running!
  7. For as good as Big Jon Singleton was defensively in 2022, he's been extremely inconsistent in 2023. He botches a catch on a routine low throw from Monasterio at SS allowing the lead-off runner to get aboard. I've seen numerous misplays by Jon early in 2023 - I don't know what it is. Hopefully, he turns it around as his glove hand, in particular, is just unreliable in 2023 so far. That's just a play any 1B has to make.
  8. I think the above post by @damuelleshowcases some of the improvement we're seeing - staying off the high heat. He's been reducing that K rate to boot. Still the Hiura power we've grown accustomed to - especially at Triple-A. In addition to the adjustments to his leg lift and swing in general, I'd say it's the more patient approach high in the zone. He's really having a fantastic year at the dish. If you remember, when he was sent down in the past year plus he was K'ng at a ridiculous 40-50% rate for Nashville. The fact he's found his patience and re-discovered that power stroke is just a plus any way you look at it.
  9. And Varland gets the 4-6-3 dp as Devanney flips to Monasterio who barehands the throw to 1B for the 2nd out by 6-9 feet. Heck of a way to escape!
  10. Varland delivers his second walk of his outing. Bases are juiced. And the Devanney error proves costly. His low 90's slider is his current challenge - a lot of wild out of the zone pitches with that one. I still see a heater that doesn't have the movement it had earlier in the season even though he's ripping 99 regularly.
  11. A rare error by INF Cam Devanney at 2B sees a botched double play ball turn into two men on and one down. That would have been a nice out for Varland but he has more work to do now. Varland is touching 99 on the heater. Sitting 96--97.
  12. RHP Gua Varland is now on the hill trying to reclaim his stuff from earlier in 2023. He struggled quite a but with his T-Rats rehab stint. We could use a clean inning for the young fireballer.
  13. That's my guy, Mr. Cam Devanney puts some serious hurt on the Saints with a two-on two-out three run bomb off of old Sound and friend RHP Connor Sadzeck here in the 8th. Glorious. He now has 4 rbi on the afternoon and it is suddenly 11-4 Sounds!
  14. RHP Ryan Middendorf continues his up-and-down 2023 in his Sounds debut: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 2K, 1 ER. He is still punching guys out at that high clip but he is just slightly off in the early going. Sounds still lead 7-4
  15. OMG, Guillarte just followed suit! I don't believe I've ever seen two stolen runs in one game let alone one inning! 4-0 Mudcats.
  16. I believe Jadher Areinamo just stole home. 3-0 Mudcats here in the 3rd. Misiorowski again went scoreless thru 2 IP - 0 H, 1 BB, 3K.
  17. Middendorf promoted and Cam Robinson demoted (ongoing control issues in 2023) is not what I would have placed a Futures prop bet on in early 2022. Hopefully both pitchers keep grinding and improving.
  18. The bullpen, in my estimation, is the clear strength of the system right now. It's a beautiful thing.
  19. Very fun read! Hopefully, we're getting these every month 😁 Luke Adams was definitely one of my proverbial guys coming up - there were reasons, reasons I say, he rounded out my Top 5 Undervalued heading into this season. He's absolutely solidified that in the early going. Uncanny patience high in the zone given his strength and power. Extremely athletic in all facets. He made two saves of RHP Edwin Jimenez errant throws to 1B last week that a man his size shouldn't be able to make - true web gem snags. He's a gazelle - incredibly agile and spry in addition to extremely fast. He appears to be one of those Unicorn types of baseball players. You could toss him in LF, 3B, or 1B and he's going to give you plus defense. This is one of the Brewers more tantalizing prospects across all levels. He truly is.
  20. OF Blake Perkins has been optioned to the Nashville Sounds by the Milwaukee Brewers
  21. It seemed pretty clear in the post-draft presser, Gutekunst was indicating the Packers are going to sign him to the 5th year. He admitted $20 Mil is a lot of money but he's their quarterback.
  22. Doubly interesting, perhaps, is this image of metrics:
  23. Yeah, it's hard to tell - he did only just return from a serious leg injury like a week or so before the regular season ended. He might have still been struggling with injury. BUT, the first round exits is literally what the Wild do. It just stinks.😂
  24. And, what's wild, the Sounds have three guys right now in Clayton Andrews, Ethan Small, and Luis Contreras who are absolutely knocking on the door of MLB time. All three have been fantastic - Andrews and Contreras in particular. Lucas Erceg had a double hiccup and then got right back on track - for the most part has been truly good for the Sounds. There is just a riches of bullpen arms. What's even better is seeing guys like Jake Cousins, Elvis Peguero, and Tyson Miller have solid outing with the Brewers. The state of the bullpen is just extremely good.
  25. Not to mention many many of these current UDFA's I've seen (mainly on Aaron Wilson's Twitter) are getting $175-260K guaranteed. There's no way the Pack are competing with that - and, perhaps that's why they coveted acquiring those late round draft picks? The highest I've seen the Pack dole out, so far, is $9K guaranteed.
