  1. He is keyed in right now. His adjustments are translating and he's really driving Center Center-Right which is where he goes when he's dialed. We'll simply have to wait and see how it progresses. The alternative was he came to ST and started off where he loft off - in a lonely place with very little contact.
  2. Enough from me. Let's here it from our Ace reigning CY YOUNG WINNER, Corbin Burnes: Followed up from our Skipper from Whitefish Bay:
  3. In a wild n wooly ST affair like tonight, I take a step down Aisle 1 and go to the Salvage Bin: Spicy K is straight hitting the fur off the ol' white rat. That is all I care about at present. And, aside from that, Ashby with a solid solid outing. Box of Burgers was serving em up hot and tasty tonight. On to the next.
  4. I like the idea of a 'Stickied' Post for the Day of Regular Season games and then archiving once that Game Day is over. Sounds like a very sensible means of archiving games long gone (and surely all marked as 'W's) while moving on toward the next promise of Victory.
  5. Spicy K is dishing it out HOT in early ST. I am allowing myself to dream of a resurgence. I'm a Brewers fan - all forms of dreaming are encouraged and allowed.
  6. Circling back to TE's. A few updates. (1) The Packers were rumored to be heavily in conversations with rising draft darling and absolute young Marcedes Lewis clone, Jelani Woods, (one of several early Draft crushes - don't worry, this happens every year) at his Pro Day. (2) Another TE draft crush of mine, Jeremy Ruckert, was seen in a walking boot at the OSU Pro Day (eeeeeek!) - an injury he suffered at the Senior Bowl. This is as they say in the bizness: 'No Bueno'. (3) Jalen Wydermyer had an extremely and I mean extremely disappointing Pro Day performance. So much so, that his once major stan, Tony Pauline, now considers the possibility he may go un-drafted. This is an incredible fall from the pedestal he stepped on after his 2019 and 2020 seasons. There were legitimate questions after he showed repeated and careless drop issues this past season but, in a pod with Eric Crocker and Tony Pauline, they confirmed: even his agents have expressed concern. Yikes. Apparently, and I'm not kidding, he jumped a 25" Vert. 25". There are concerns he wouldn't break a 4.9 40. Let me repeat: Yikes. I would simply say: if the Packers were remotely thinking of drafting this kid I sure as heck am hoping they run far far away from that idea after their gamble and failed results with one Jace Sternberger.
  7. That's the Million $ question. Of those 3, I'd probably go Fuller, Landry, and then Julio. But, it all depends on what happens with MVS and what the Packers overall thought process is.
  8. Wednesday 3/23: Brew Crew vs. Cincinnati Red Legs first pitch scheduled for 18:05 CST Corbin Burnes first ST action starting off vs. Tyler Mahle Perhaps, more interestingly: Full Starting Lineup: And onto the scheduled Pitchers:
  9. Some roster moves today - Major League ST club down to Minors camp: And, first cuts:
  10. It's amazing. I swear, this happens every time.
  11. Whoa. The NFL never sleeps. This is nuts. Wonder what KC's pivot looks like. I will say this: The Packers and Chiefs are clearly led by intelligent people. Both leadership teams saw their respective Gaps were too large to bridge and acted very very quickly. That is not easy to do. And, as a fan: I love all this off-season activity. This is nuts!
  12. My mother arrived today for a 2 month stay on my Farm. It brings back all sorts of nostalgia as Spring Training progresses. What is hot on the nostalgia stove this morning?

On Monday June 2nd, 1986, as a wee 8 year old lad, my parents took me to County Stadium to witness the Brewers defeat the Kansas City Royals 7-2. We sat about 20 rows up the First Base Line directly above the dugout - catty-corner home plate as it were. Teddy Higuera went the full 9 innings and I was completely engaged; on deck; glove at the ready. BUT, more than anything that fine evening, oddly, what I remember most is my mother steadfastly reading Ken Follett's Eye of the Needle. Teddy went 9. Ganter, Oglive, and Sveum had decent nights at the Plate. BUT, through it all, my mother turned page after page only glancing in brief moments to give me an affirming smile or a nod of recognition.

Some 13 years later, while working as a college student in a local bookstore, I was well into my lifelong fandom of the Milwaukee Brewers. And, it just so happened I was the individual shelving and buying Mystery and Thriller novels. The world often spins a Web of Meaning: One early spring day, I laid down in the employee break room on a ragged old couch and began my own  reading and interpretation of the very same Eye of the Needle. Apparently, it was time to close the Circle. It was 1999. Phil Gardner was now the manager. The Brewers were yet again inconsequential. AND, frankly, I was questioning my own life's direction (as any 21 yo young man would do) and certainly my fandom of a team seemingly destined to annually define the phrase: "Mediocre at best!". A Brewers season was on the horizon. All hope and aspirations languishing in a sea of 'Meh'.

As the 2022 season approaches - salvaged miraculously from the throes of a devastating Lock-Out - I ponder a line from Follett's seminal international thriller I encountered that day on that couch:

"The trouble with being inspired to perform the impossible was the inspiration gave you no clues to the practical means."

I don't know how the Brewers can win a World Series championship in 2022, but I hope they are inspired to perform the impossible. In the Spirit of Gratitude, I give great GREAT thanks for these past 4 years. I, for One, remember the doldrums. We are living in the next Golden Era of our fanaticism. Let us not forget this.

  13. I still secretly want them to sign Akiem Hicks on a prove it 1 year deal. When he is healthy and motivated he is still an absolute Force.
  14. As you should be. What's most confusing to me is the pseudo-tantrum. I almost wonder if it was a bad joke?
  15. I can honestly say, I only joined the original Brewer Fan for the Blogs. Yup, that's 100% it.
  16. I'm super excited to watch Za'Darius Smith line up for the Vikings!
  17. Wow. The Braden Webb comes untangled. I remember when Webb was a mildly interesting prospect when he had that stint pre-COVID and was promoted all the way to Double AA. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
  18. As an aside: Without Midds tonight, I'd say moving Brook back into the Starting Lineup had its desired effect? 126-98. Not a bad outing.
  19. He's literally our Unicorn and it is amazing. We are SO lucky. John Hammond: You are always Forgiven.
  20. I might not like this news. BUT, I gott it. Thanks.
  21. The Brewers played the White Sox today. Tuesday March, 22nd. For those in the know Eric Lauer was scheduled to start today's outing BUT he was a late scratch due to 'groin tightness' and they handed the ball over to Jason Alexander. If you are unfamiliar with Jason Alexander outside his tenure as a key character on 'Seinfeld' here you go: Brewers fall 4-3. Keston Hiura continues his early season MVP surge with an rbi single. Corey Ray went 2 for 2 with an RBI single as well if you can believe it or not. Solid outing from Alexander who spot fills with 2 scoreless and a K. Devin Williams saw his first action of the spring and gave up a run. Luis Perdomo with another scoreless inning. BUT, let's talk about one of the better pick off moves you'll see in awhile in Caleb Boushley in the 9th. Solid solid stuff here:
  22. Well, with the Packers I never know if a single SB - regardless of what they do - is a certainty. BUT, to your point, it is definitely agreed here this what they should do. Kenny has needed legit high end Vet help for years. This raises the depth low end. That is a Win.
  23. Really like the Reed signing. This is that 'end of his Prime' stage so a 1 year deal is perfect. He's a guy that can impact the game in a variety of ways. He was originally a pass rush guy but he has become a more well-rounded and team-oriented guy. He has 16 more pressures than Dean Lowry, for example, in the past 3 years. He isn't what he was during his 2018 10.5 sack campaign but that's fine. I would casually argue he's more going to solidify the run defense while still being able to cause situational pressures and pocket collapse. Paired with KC, he'll create better depth and a better D-Line. This moves Lancaster into a negligible role and that is something that is good for the team - no offense to Tyler, but he's about as Replacement Level as it gets.
  24. I agree. There are several very good Safeties available early - some, I would argue, are better pure Safety prospects than draft darling Kyle Hamilton who is more of that classic New NFL Modern era Hybrid.
  25. As I was saying, Houser looking filthy. Here’s a lil peak:
