I think it's fair to be a little down on Peralta but not excessively so. I don't expect him to be an ace; he's a little too flawed for that to be a reasonable expectation. But I do expect him to be better than average, somewhere around respectable #2 starter level. And while he has shown his typical flashes of brilliance, he all-too-often falls into those epic innings where he can't find the strike zone, throws non-competitive pitches, and lobs over a meatball. He's a very frustrating pitcher to watch over a full season. He has all the pieces to make it work.

Absolutely, and it should be more than that given baseball's economic system and the sheer market weight of the Cubbies.

As I currently own and operate a Cubs site, I won't publicly dance on their grave. But damn, are fans up in arms about that team. And they should be. The Cubs should be spending more money than they are and I'm not seeing a lot to like about Hoyer's administration. He's not terrible or anything but his approach isn't exactly inspiring, either.

Well, this is a must-watch matchup for me.

According to Mark Feinsand's latest MLB.com report, the Blue Jays are telling teams they are willing to trade any players on expiring contracts, though they are not yet willing to part with players with team control beyond 2024. The Blue Jays have a slew of players who will be free agents at the end of the season: center fielder Kevin Kiermaier, DH Justin Turner, relievers Trevor Richards & Yimi Garcia, and most interestingly to the Brewers, Yusei Kikuchi. Kikuchi is having a solid season with 101.1 innings pitched, a 101 ERA+, and is making only $10 million this season.
