  1. I'm actually on the more aggressive side of this board. I think the Brewers should spend and trade more during this window. But there just wasn't much available this deadline. That's the reality. I'm not particularly interested in Alonso and given his god-like status in Queens, the asking price was likely far outside what is reasonable, which is why he wasn't traded. Could the Brewers be more aggressive? Yes. Should the Brewers be more aggressive? I think so. But this deadline wasn't conducive to that happening.
  2. You ready to give up Misiorowski for 1.3 seasons of moving the needle? There's a reason why the guy wasn't traded. If we're dealing in purely hypotheticals, literally every player in baseball could have been acquired by the Brewers.
  3. Oh, definitely. I was only speaking to something tangible and numeric on which to judge ownership.
  4. It's always possible the Brewers missed an opportunity to trade for a player... but look at all of MLB. Nobody of note offensively was traded to anyone. A few contenders didn't trade for anyone at all because the market was so thin. I think there's pretty strong evidence that there simply weren't any game-changers available, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
  5. It's lovely, I even got to watch tonight's game! It's close to Danbury, about 60 miles south of Duluth/Superior. MLB's blackout rules are soooooo nonsensical. If I tried to watch the Twins game on my iPad (which has location linked to the MLB.tv app), I was blacked out. If I used my laptop on the same internet connection, I could watch the game. My Brewers coverage is equally nonsensical. Tonight was on Fox so I could watch it but I rarely get to watch the Brewers here at the cabin.
  6. Yep, as far as ownership groups go, I think the Brewers have it pretty good. Look at what Cleveland has been doing the past few years. They're a similar market size to Milwaukee and also competitive but their product is far less watchable because of the way ownership operates.
  7. When it comes to ownership, what I care about most is the payroll number. Attanasio does a decent, if not good, job in that regard. Milwaukee is the smallest metro market in the sport, yet the Brewers regularly sit in the 20-24 range in MLB payroll.
  8. What they're discussing here goes well beyond repair and upkeep, though. Think of it as your dishwasher breaking so you buy a new one versus tearing out your entire kitchen and remodeling it. Which is fine, AmFam is getting a little long in the tooth right now and could use some modernization. The devil is in the details.
  9. Right now, I think that's where I land, too. Maybe my opinion changes in the next three weeks, though. I *definitely* put Chourio on the Opening Day roster in 2024 unless something goes horribly wrong between now and then. I want that draft pick if he wins RoY. It's a good gamble given Chourio's talent level.
  10. Yeah, I don't know if Chourio is ready to make an impact in Milwaukee but I won't rule it out, either. The good thing about an extension to a teenager is that it can be really, really long and the guy will still reach free agency before he's 30. He gets guaranteed over $100m in case of injury, the Brewers get guaranteed control, and he's still open for a potential bank-busting free agency deal.
  11. I agree it's unlikely to happen but there is absolutely nothing stopping the Brewers from bringing up Chourio in two weeks and then signing him to an eight year deal with two options. I don't know if I'd call him up but I'd certainly lock him up immediately.
  12. Nice win yesterday that I wasn't able to watch because I had the audacity to cross the Wisconsin border by six miles and visit my cabin. It sure is nice to type Burnes as the starter one day, then follow that up with Woodruff the next. Today appears to be a nationally televised game on Fox so keep that in mind.
  13. This is such a nebulous thing about relievers. I can never figure out if back-to-back is really that damaging to some guys or if the sample size is so small that we can't determine anything real about it. But I think the reality of the situation is that Peguero is going to need to have his usage altered if he blows up again in the near future.
  14. Welcome to Brewer Fanatic!
  15. Burnes is on the mound against that other Chicago squad. The Brewers need to take this series, the Cubs are going against the Jays, after which the northsiders have a cupcake schedule for two weeks.
  16. We had many internal discussions about the length of the list but ultimately I won out and made it as short as possible for the sake of my own sanity. The amount of wibble-wobble on prospects 16-20 is enormous and would only get worse going 21+.
  17. Could you refine this to just the people you plan to include in your top 20? I don't want the list to become too cumbersome.
  18. Ah, thank you! This one might not get fixed for a day or so, depends what my night looks like tonight.
  19. Okay, so this process is pretty simple but requires a bit of reading to understand all the steps. 1. You must have an account and be logged in to vote. If you don't have an account, click here. It literally requires 60 seconds to create an account. 2. Review our current top 20 prospect list, catch up on stats, rankings, etc. 3. Have your prospect list in your dirty little paws? Then flip on over to the new prospect voting page (after reading the rest of this, please). 4. Voting is super simple, you drag and drop players in the order you wish them to be. After you move a prospect, the list automatically renumbers so you don't lose track of the order. This works on mobile devices but it's a *vastly* better experience on desktop. Sorry, that's just how this kind of thing works. There's no great way to make something like this be as awesome on a phone screen. 5. Each prospect has a comment section where you can add any commentary you have on that player. At the bottom of the list, there is a general comment section to explain over-arching things you wish to mention. 6. Don't see a prospect you want to put on the list? Just pop back here and give me a mention (in a comment, start typing @Brock Beauchamp and then select my name when it appears). Mention the prospect you want added and I will do that asap. 7. Once you're done with all of it, click Save. You've now voted! 8. When the voting closes, a new thread will automatically generate in this forum with all of your rankings and comments for everyone to read and talk about. 9. You can only vote once. If you have voted in error, pop back here and again tag me, asking to have your vote deleted. I will remove it and you can vote again. Voting will close end of day on Tuesday, August 15th!
