  1. Yikes. That play was awful in a few very distinct ways.
  2. And I totally get it. I feel that way about the White Sox, actually. But it's not a Twins fandom thing because I don't feel that way about the Guardians at all. I guess I just choose one team to hate in a division and in the NLC, it's the Cardinals.
  3. But to be fair, I admit I don't have the hatred for the Cubs that many of you do. I'm weird that way. I ******* hate the Cards but the Cubs are "eh, okay". I think it probably has to do with me spending quite a bit of time in Utah - a baseball dead zone, particularly in the early 90s - and the Cubs were literally the only team I could watch on the regular. I grew up watching a lot of Sandberg, Dawson, Grace, Dunston, etc. I don't cheer for the Cubs but I don't wish death on them, either. They're just kinda... there.
  4. Where is the Contreras trade going to rank in Brewers trade history when all is said and done? I think it's gonna be wayyyyy up there on the list.
  5. Anybody who beats the Reds right now is okay in my book. I reserve the right to change my opinion on that daily. Don't mistake me enjoying the Cubs beat the Reds for cheering for anything but a Brewers division title.
  6. Oh damn, I might need to flip over the Cubs game because they're shelling the Reds. Looks like a good time!
  7. Put the kids to bed and the Brewers are winning when I come back. I'm going to go wake them up and put them to bed again! bbl
  8. I have to say I'm not a huge fan of this whole "losing to the Nationals" thing the Brewers are trying out.
  9. Welcome to Brewer Fanatic!
  10. After what happened last season, Arnold needs to pick up at least one more good arm. As Matt points out here, leaving things up to fate isn't enough. If you can put your finger on the scale even a little bit, you do it. That's especially true in this trade market, where there just aren't high-priced trades available. Work around the margins, do what you can. The Reds aren't exactly killing it at the deadline, either.
  11. Fair enough. As I said but maybe didn't word strongly enough, we're going to change some things in the coming days. One of them is to take a bit more of a breather and be able to edit some pieces more fully. I admit that I have been glossing over content FAR more than I should during the editing process and will work harder to change that going forward. We've been introducing a ton of new voices lately and getting them on-boarded and up to speed has made us a little too lax about the content itself. But thank you for the feedback, seriously, I need to be reminded what I'm missing at times and this is definitely a thing I've been missing.
  12. We're actually implementing a few changes after the deadline regarding articles. But sometimes, people are gonna write some clunkers. We believe in fostering young/inexperienced writers, it's part of our mission statement. And sometimes, those writers are gonna lay an egg. We're going to work to cut down on some of the most egregious issues - this is our first year with three sites and the deadline has gotten a little out of hand - but at this site's core, it's about building a community and giving voices to those who wish to be heard. And with that comes some bumps and bruises along the way.
  13. Ken Rosenthal rounded up a few rumors on trade deadline day and one of them caught my eye: the Milwaukee Brewers have been in contact with the Arizona Diamondbacks about left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin. The Brewers have had a rather active trade deadline thus far, headlined by the acquisitions of Carlos Santana and Mark Canha. But they're still in need of bullpen help, particularly left-handed pitchers. This rumor is particularly interesting because, as of this writing, the Diamondbacks and Brewers are tied in the standings for the final Wild Card berth. The Brewers likely have their eye on the division title - not the Wild Card - but there's a good chance Arizona and Milwaukee are competing in a zero-sum game at season's end. Chafin's stats are, at a glance, underwhelming. The 33-year-old's 4.19 ERA is quite bad... but his 3.13 FIP and 12.8 K/9 look great (though he walks too many). He has a club option for 2024 so he's not a rental. I'm kind of rooting for this to happen because take a gander at the guy... he looks like a Milwaukee Brewer. And that counts for something, at least to me. View full rumor

  15. Yesterday sucked, a real waste of an opportunity. Let's do it again and this time, win the game.
  16. Just can't have these kind of losses at this point in the season. You're facing a really bad team with your ace on the mound. Need to log a W in that situation.
  17. No, definitely post it publicly, this is all a group effort and if people want to back-and-forth on stuff, great!
  18. Did I miss that? I must have missed that. Thanks. My brain is a breakfast scramble right now, trying to hold 15 different ideas in my head at once.
  19. Not really. The only player I'd consider giving up Chourio for is a player with 3+ years of control remaining and elite current performance. None of them are on the market.
  20. Ken Rosenthal reported this morning that the Brewers are still in search of a bat, even in the wake of trading for Carlos Santana. No specific names are mentioned but it's likely the Brewers are looking for a right-handed bat that plays in a corner position or at designated hitter. Two names drawing a lot of interest are the White Sox's Eloy Jimenez and the Nationals' Jeimer Candelario, the latter of whom has become something of a darling of the 2023 trade deadline. At least eight teams are reportedly pursuing the player, according to the Nationals' general manager. Who should the Brewers pursue in the next 30-ish hours? View full rumor
