  1. He has been about as consistent as you could get, never hitting less than .294. Doesn't bring much else than OBP, but that's a lot.
  2. Since this is MN, home of Prince, Let's Go Crazy! Woodruff and Adames for Arraez Ober Thielbar C. Prielipp R. Lewis. By BTV, this is slightly in the Twins favor 79.1 vs 78.9
  3. I would assert that this is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing. That much deferred payment will be a drag on the future success of the team. Big bucks on a short contract would be ideal. Buy out two years of FA, give him slight raises over what he would get in arbitration, then basically tack on Verlander's contract. I doubt a contract of any kind can be negotiated.
  4. That's absurd, IMO. He makes us a win worse. Because he sucked.
  5. Opening day or sometime in June (after super 2) is a more likely dichotomy. Though if he is on two top 100 lists, I think he'll be up on OD or within a couple of weeks.
  6. Josh Hader: 7.31 ERA with SD. 16 IP. Taylor Rogers 5.48 ERA with MKE, 23 IP. Hader did fine in the playoffs, but if he performed for us like he performed for SD, it would have made us worse. That's the truth.
  7. He's in the 40s on MLB.com. So, he'll probably be on at least 2 lists.
  8. But if the same three guys are playing 2B-SS-3B, their offense doesn't matter regarding where they play in the field. It used to be that SS were mostly slap-hitting defense-first players, but that doesn't apply any more.
  9. A lot of people are forgetting about Strzelecki; he's probably our 7th inning guy unless we acquire someone.
  10. You can send him down during the season if it's clear he's not going to be top 3, to control his service time. You can always use the "we want him to get more regular playing time, or work on X" as the excuse.
  11. Who's our DH if Yelich and Winker are both in the field?
  12. that seems to require the rookies to all produce pretty well, which is far from a certainty.
  13. I guess, the worst-case scenario is that you traded Wong's $2M buyout for $1.75M and Winker and Toro. So Winker and Toro only need to be worth $0.25M for this trade to be a wash.
  14. who's our 6th starter? Junk? We need 7.
  15. It's reasonable to expect both of them will do better than they did in 2022. How much better, I don't know. I don't know what procedure Winker had on his knee, but the one on his spine could take months to recover from. I don't feel great about having Urias, Adames, Brosseau, Turang and Toro as our only options 2b-SS-3b. I don't feel great about having someone who will keep Yelich away from DHing, and thus also keep one of our rookies from getting significant ABs in the majors.
  16. Like Wong? Wong has one inning at SS; the rest of his infield innings are all at 2B.
  17. I wish I could think the Brewers will add $44M in contracts. I'd take the under at $8.5M in total FA contracts added.
  18. I think they'd trade him for anything at this point.
  19. As far as value for value, I don't have any problem with this trade. Except we acquired the wrong players. Winker bats from the wrong side. I know he did OK vs. LHP last year, but that was an aberration, based on the rest of his career. He's a reasonable bounce-back candidate. Toro is a switch hitter and can play 2b and 3b, which suggests versatility, but his terrible hitting means he's not a platoon candidate with any of our existing players. He did great in AA in 2019, and probably was promoted too soon. So there is hope for him becoming a quality ML player. Since we're sending back 1.75M, there isn't even any cost savings; rather, our salary obligations have increased by the amount of Toro's salary.
  20. He's too athletic and has too good of an arm to put at 1B. If all of our OF prospects do well, you trade one.
  21. Barring injuries, Yelich will play 50-100 games in the OF. Taylor will play 100-130 games in the OF. Figure Yelich 300 PA (plate appearances) Taylor 450 PA Mitchell 450 PA Frelick 450 PA Ruiz/Wiemar/Perkins/Other 450 PA Of course, many of them will get some PA at DH.
  22. since we just traded a RF who would have been on a 1yr contract at a reasonable cost, I can see no support for this notion. They might have someone on the OD roster (and some of you think this will be Perkins), just to delay the clock on one of our rookies, but it won't be about replacing Renfroe's production.
