  1. I didn't double check, but I've read something about our Quero's younger brother. Is there another Quero catching in the minors? Checking. . . I guess you're right. I can't imagine the family moved from Venezuela to Cuba so they mustn't be (closely) related. Thanks.
  2. So, some defensive measures have Urias better at 3B and some at 2B, so "significant upgrade" is misleading, at best. Let's say there is a significant benefit to moving Urias to 2B (there probably isn't), there's still no reason why Turang should displace Adames. At least Turang played 66 innings at 3B last year. The last time Adames played 3B he was 17 years old in the Dominican League.
  3. I didn't really like the Woodruff trade to the Angels, but I needed to have a catcher ready to play in MLB and O'Hoppe fit the bill. So I tried a different trade. Woodruff for O'Hoppe Trout. Which kinda shows how reasonable the BTV site is about some valuations. Or even better: Woodruff and Yelich for O'Hoppe, Trout, Rendon, and Bush (because I like bush). Rendon has a terrible contract, but only 4 more years.
  4. I said reasonable. There are an infinite number of bad reasons one could conceive.

  6. That's literally the only reasonable reason for displacing Adames--if Turang would be significantly better.

  8. Some are, some aren't. There have always been dominant old starting pitchers. The thing that has changed from 50 years ago is that the medicine is much better at bringing back players from major injuries. It's really hard to predict which pitcher will age well and which won't.

  10. I think fans wouldn't be pissed off if (some of) those players were traded at the deadline next year if the Brewers are clearly out of the race.

  12. It's ideal, but not necessary. For example, if you produce a quality starting pitcher every year, you can trade the excess to fill in at weak positions.

  14. Turang hasn't established himself as a better shortstop than Adames yet.

  16. No, it's not. 2B is right after SS on the position spectrum. It's not like little league where you hide your worst defenders at 2B and RF.

  18. So they clone Woodruff and overpay both of them?
  19. You're right that this discussion seems circular and pointless. IMO, it's ludicrous to move one of your best players off his preferred position, which he plays well, for a prospect who is no guarantee to earn a full-time starting position in 2023. In a computer game, sure, move them around like they're not people, but they are people. In the real world, you don't jerk your best performers around. If Turang had 100+ ABs in the majors at the end of the year, and hit .270+, sure, then he's proven something. But he hasn't. Judging by past rookies, he has a good chance he won't be able to stick in the majors all year. And it won't hurt him (or the Brewers) to play multiple positions for a year or two.

  21. Diaz would be great, except he becomes a FA the same time Burnes/Woodruff do. Moving Adames off SS is ludicrous. He's a quality SS and he's only going to be around for 1-2 more years.
