  1. If they get a cost-controlled Adames, it allows them to spend their money on other FAs. Unlike the Brewers, the Dodgers are willing to spend their "savings." But, if we trade with the dodgers, it might make sense to trade Adames with Burnes. I'm sure they covet Burnes.
  2. Trade with the Mets is a huge overpayment (BTV site). Trade with the Rays is a significant underpayment. Trade with Jays is a huge underpayment.
  3. That's ludicrous, unless you took me literally regarding my use of "miracle." I don't think divine intervention is required, but it would need to be something nearly as rare.
  4. Then you better hope Frelick and Mitchell both hit well as rookies.
  5. His name is Tyrone Taylor. Or Garrett Mitchell if Frelick is our CF.
  6. What actual evidence do you have of other executives being keen to sign him to a major league contract? His floor is a career minor leaguer. His ceiling is a AAAA guy who gets called up when someone is injured and they need to at least have an emergency CFer.
  7. He. . .Can't. . .Hit. If there was "significant" interest from other teams, it shows that other front offices are led by idiots. Where does he go into the organizational chart at CF? After Mitchell, Frelick, Ruiz, Taylor, Chourio. . . I think we have it covered. Again, I have no problem with signing guys as depth pieces for the minors, but I (obviously) have a huge problem signing guys to major league contracts if their track record shows they'll never become a major league player, barring divine intervention.
  8. He'd be a good call on a 1-year contract. But do you think they're willing to pay for him?
  9. When do we trade Wong and Hiura, and what do we get for them?
  10. He has to be on the 40 man now, right? If the front office doesn't have a better use for that slot now, they should. I'd have no problem signing him to a minor league contract, but there is absolutely nothing in his track record to justify a major league contract. I'm hoping that announcement was in error.
  11. He only has an intriguing ability to get walks in spite of not hitting well. If he were in our system, he'd be a guy no one would worry about losing. And 40-man slots have value.
  12. He has never hit above .255 in even a partial season, and his minor league career BA is .234. he has little power (his 15 HR in 2022 far exceeds his previous high). He strikes out a good bit in spite of his lack of power. It boggles the mind that they signed him to a major league contract.
  13. Except it burns a 40-man slot.
  14. seem to be giving the other team an unfair advantage by not having a 2B. :-)
  15. A guy who sits at 90mph needs to have a filthy breaking ball to be a quality starter. I don't think Small qualifies. I'd like to be wrong.
  16. I think Small is our next Suter. Whether he does that in 2023 or 2024, I don't know.
  17. If they put Guerra at the backend of the bullpen at the beginning of the year, that would be bad.
  18. Lauer is a quality #3 starter, and he's our #4. I believe he's a significant part of us having a superior rotation. Like any player, if you get offered more than you think he's worth, you make the trade. I wouldn't be making any offers.

  20. Why? We kept our higher-leverage but not closer reliever.
  21. I hope the Mariners don't use the BTV site. Because this is the kind of guy we could get: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=benite001jor He was sent to the AZ fall league where he did fine (though not many SO), but teams usually don't often send their best pitchers there. So, basically we'd avoid the $2M buyout and get a guy whom no one would get excited over. Clever way to get out of the buyout.

  23. I know it's hard to find content. But maybe curate it a bit more?

  25. It's impossible. The article is ridiculous.
