  1. Manny Pina is not a AAAA journeyman. He hit over .700 OPS every season with the Brewers. There are 3 catchers in Nashville who could be a backup in the majors right now.
  2. I think you guys are giving too much credence to Lamet's 4th in the Cy Young voting--it was 2020 and he only had 12 starts.
  3. Two things. Losing Antoine Kelly is a bad thing. He was far enough away that he wasn't a sure thing, but he wasn't just some guy with no results. He was selected to the Futures Game this season and his upside was as a #2 starter, something that is rare in our system. I consider him an overpay, even though we'll have Bush for a couple of years. Humans are imperfect. We've all erred. I'd guess that most of us have driven while over the legal limit. Most of us are not alcoholics. Redemption is a center point for most religions for a reason. Rise above your base inclinations.
  4. But you don't promote a guy in a slump for over a month.
  5. I thought he was a guy who could bounce up and down between Nashville and Milwaukee. I guess he thinks he'll get picked up by a major league team.
  6. ***? Nashville needed an OF, but they didn't need 3!
  7. Please give me stats that show he is more prone to slumps than any other player.
  8. There's got to be another quasi-significant trade coming, right? So at least we can say: this improvement will more than counterbalance what we lost by trading Hader.
  9. I knew what I did wasn't ideal, but baseball reference didn't give me much to work with.
  10. El Paso has a .855 OPS as a team (compared to .771 for Nashville)! Ruiz has .935. Pro-rate it for Nashville and you get .843, so a little better than Pablo Reyes or Jonathon Davis.
  11. Joey Wiemer 25 of 26 stolen bases. Brice Turang 22 of 24 stolen bases. Jonathon Davis 18 of 20 stolen bases. Joe Gray 16 of 17 stolen bases. David Hamilton (former brewer prospect) 49 of 53 stolen bases.
  12. I don't think Lamet is a guy you can count on. Unless Topa or Cousins come back and are solid (or you move Houser back to the pen), they need one more guy who can slot somewhere in the 6th or 7th innings in close games.
  13. The Braves signed all 22 of their picks (they went $1M under slot on their FRP). I know things might get reported later, but I was hoping for a couple more signees.
  14. Of course that's not what I mean. I meant a reliever who can be slotted into the 6th or 7th innings in close games.
  15. Run: Plus runner, with strong instincts that allow him to steal an elite number of bases. Speed translates to some defensive range at second. Grade: 60 https://www.prospectslive.com/scoutingreports/esteury-ruiz
  16. If it were 2017.
  17. Apparently we read different scouting reports.
  18. There is ZERO reason to avoid batting Yelich then Wong first and second against RHP. If the other team brings in a LHP, you take your chances with Yelich, and PH Brosseau for Wong (Brosseau is better vs. LHP than Wong is vs. RHP)..
  19. 1. Josh Hader is a dominant pitcher, Taylor Rodgers is an effective pitcher. We lost value going forward, unless Hader is broken, which I don't believe. 2. Get over Hader losing a couple of postseason games. It doesn't doom the same results, particularly since overall he's been great in the playoffs. 3. Ruiz and Gasser are fine "gets" in the trade. The only negatives are that Ruiz doesn't field any position well yet (I think he'll eventually be fine in CF) and that I kept reading that SD didn't give up any of the prospects they were offering for Soto. We got the guys who aren't really great prospects. Also Ruiz has speed, but it's not elite speed--he just knows how to steal bases. 4. Lamet is a AAAA pitcher to me at this point. Maybe the brewers were OK with the other three guys and Lamet was just a throw-in. I'd have preferred someone who could be a solid 6-7 inning guy right now, or another prospect like Ruiz and Gasser. If they had gotten such a player, I'd have graded this as a win for the Brewers.
  20. Biloxi loads the bases with no out. They don't PH for Jason Lopez (.169 BA), who hits into a double play, Tristan Lutz thrown out at home. Then they score a run on a WP..
  21. Biloxi left Castaneda in too long. 4 straight singles in the top of the 6th.
  22. Joey Wiemer has really tanked after a great start this year. He hasn't hit a HR since June 22. He's struck out 36 times since then. Batting .155 in July. I know he had an injury. Maybe it's time to give him some time off and get well? It's not like Biloxi doesn't have enough good OFs right now.
  23. After he came back from his injury Lutz has raked. So three (really 2.5 because he missed half a month) months straight of doing great.
  24. I think Bettinger's prospect status has tanked, so I'd trade him. Robinson's prospect status has risen this year, so I'd rather keep him.
