It's not just you. As limited as he is range-wise, that play is one Tellez makes pretty effectively.

If that scares them it shouldn't. The Hader deal appears to be unfolding just fine in it's aftermath.

That's where the timing comes in. Hader is an example that I believe will prove to work out well. Jonathan Lucroy. The return for him didn't pan out but his productive years ended when he left here so the timing was great. It doesn't have to always result in a long drought. Consistent depth of the farm system is critical to that. It's a lot more challenging that way. No one can argue that.

Nope, never had been. If the financial structure doesn't change it'll always be more difficult. I have an issue with "unable". For all teams, even the rich ones, scouting/drafting is vitally important. If you suck at it all the money in the world won't make up for it. The Brewers will always be unable to pay guys at times. How they respond to that issue w/regards to the timing of personnel moves is the key. Do they have less margin for error? Absolutely.

I was about to respond to this as well. 78-83 were better teams in relation to the rest of MLB. If "run of success" refers to post-season the poster has a valid point. But the structure was drastically different, obviously. It's apples-oranges. Current baseball is the apples.

I believe 2019 was actually 3-5. Going back from there, 1-7, 6-2, & 3-5. The 1-7 was the team that went to the NLCS. Not sure exactly what it means. Maybe constantly limping into the break w/an overused bullpen factors in.

Since it puts your better defender on the field the majority of the time, I think you'll see pretty close to a straight platoon, for now.

Exactly. If only Winker had TOLD CC he was going to strike out lol. Not a good AB by Winker, but his ABs have looked marginally better than Wiemers' lately.

I guess it's like Schroeder says, if you put the ball in play....... Bad throw by Anderson of course, made worse by the intended receiver of the throw. I venture to guess most experienced 1B make that play. Something pissed me off in the 8th inning that looked like wouldn't be a factor, but as it turns out could've been. Their reliever goes 3-2 to every hitter in the 7th inning. Owen Miller leads off the 8th & decides to swing at the 1st pitch. Then back-to-back walks. Then Anderson decides to swing at the 1st pitch. Sometimes baseball players can drive you nuts. Even though they took the lead in the 9th, Turangs' play was spectacular & deserves mention.

So Tellez can return from the 10-day & miss one game after the break, right? Maybe the inflammation is "We expect to face three LH starters before the break"-itis.

Really. In this very thread someone was speculating if Turang would be sent back down in favor of Jones. When a team struggles to score runs it's easy--for some--to lose perspective.

Not as intriguing, but Justin Wilson has started his rehab & I assume will be in Biloxi or N'ville before long. I would like to see them roll with what they have in the system bullpen-wise, but it's hard to imagine them NOT picking up some arm from somewhere.

I agree it's hard to win twice giving up 13 runs. But.......they scored 14. I'll take 7 per all season long, HRs or not. We stole one yesterday, and agreed their pen looks spent. That's why I laugh when I hear "they're taking too many hittable pitches!!!" The last thing you wanted to see today was Hendricks sitting there in the 7th inning at 82 pitches. As good as he was, they did a decent job getting him out after 6. Gave themselves a chance.

Apologies if any of this has been mentioned as I have no desire to read 10 pages, but regarding the sends by Lane: Most people overlook one of a 3B coaches biggest responsibilities: not only the outs but the next hitter. If he holds the runner in the 1st scenario the ball gets cut & you wind up w/runners on the corners, one out & Tapia (not an easy DP candidate) at the plate. The second time, the chances of Happ throwing Miller out was better than 50-50, but holding him leaves you with 2 outs & Wiemer coming up. The first send was a mistake. Not the biggest one I've ever seen, after all Ed Sedar roamed these parts, but pretty big. I'm perfectly fine with the second one. I miss BA at 3B. Maybe we found something to flesh out the back of the pen. Bukauskas looks like he belongs (in the limited role, anyway) and that's a nice changeup by Andrews IF he can get to it (setting it up by getting a favorable count).

The recent moves, none involving Hiura, pretty much indicate that they don't have him in their plans. It goes to follow they'd be more than willing to deal him & get what they can. Unless he's a throw-in in the next four weeks I see no interest. Maybe that changes if an injury opens up a spot somewhere but IMO it's pretty doubtful.

If they're strikes, sure. I mention that because sometimes when we go into ambush mode we really don't show enough judiciousness in what we swing at. We've been working a lot of walks lately & I'd hate to see that go away. Considering it's Hendricks/Miley, I get the feeling the HP umpire is going to be a big factor this afternoon.

I'd love to know how many runs he's saved. I believe many people inexplicably overlook that. And his first couple games back he looked great at the plate (a couple hits; could've easily been 4 or 5). Then on Sunday the speed paid off when he forced a rushed throw on the swinging bunt. Yesterday was easily his worst day since returning, he even looked a little shaky early on defensively. All considered I'm glad he's back.

Hopefully we never find out & our catchers stay healthy, but I've wondered who would get the call if we needed someone for a couple weeks. Henry is hitting the ball but might be behind the other two defensively. Quero has some kinda skills behind the plate, and is inching closer every day to being a .300 hitter. In my book he's every bit as untouchable as Chourio. I have good feelings about Wood.

When I saw his #s at OkC (especially the OPS & ability to draw walks) I assumed he was around 28 or 29. Still not 26 yet, that surprised me. It'll be interesting to see what they do if he gets another chance or two & produces. Someone mentioned him replacing Turang. That's straight out of the Bill Schroeder "the bat plays" gospel, which is hell & gone from always being true. Unless he's a much better defender than I understand him to be that won't happen. Since Turang can be your 2nd SS you COULD have him replace Monasterio. Either way, it's nice to learn he has an option left. Would love to know what Hiura thinks of this.🤔

He didn't mismanage the bullpen Friday night. He did what he could with the hand he dealt himself. He certainly deserves credit today because I think he did indeed "set up" the matchup. If he felt Ross wouldn't make a change he much more likely goes to Tellez rather than Winker.
