  1. That is a huge turd of a deal for a team that expected to compete for a Wild Card...unless, unless there is another player involved or it allows us to clear salary to resign Ben Sheets or go after someone like Derek Lowe.

  12. Maybe I am not familiar with some of the prospects involved, but that seems like an awfully good deal for the Mets. People here were talking Fielder for Putz, and the Mets basically traded the equivalent of Tony Gwynn Jr, Seth McClung, Brad Nelson and some other guys - who again I may not be that familiar with, but still. I wish we could pull a deal like that.
  13. I dont see what is attractive about either of those pitchers at this point in their careers and especially for that amount of money, Id just prefer to resign Sheets.
  14. Per Rotoworld: Sources told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal that the Mets could be close to landing J.J. Putz in a three-team deal also involving the Indians. Rosenthal has Aaron Heilman, Endy Chavez, Mike Carp and Franklin Gutierrez in the deal, but doesn't know who is going where. We're guessing that Heilman would go to Cleveland as the return for Gutierrez, who would be penciled in as Seattle's center fielder. Chavez and Carp would likely go to Seattle as well. Chavez is no asset at his salary, but Carp is an intriguing first base prospect and Gutierrez has quite a bit of upside. It still doesn't seem like enough of a return for Putz.
  15. The Yankees and Yankee fans must be thrilled to have a guy who truly wants to be there putting on the uniform everyday. It only took an extra two years a 70 million dollars to do it. I love how the Post reported it as it being official the Sabathia wanted to be a Yankee. Seems to me that he'd prefer to be about anything but, hence the ridiculously excessive contract they had to dole out. Im not bitter at all, never had any illusion that we would resign him from the day we traded for him. Just seems so odd that people could actually proud or excited in NYC.
  16. Are we to read between the lines then and assume that he has convinced CC himself that NY is the right fit?
  17. I made the same comment in two threads earlier if that is what has got everyone in a tizzy. Im sorry about that.
  18. mlbtraderumors now reporting that a Sabathia to the Yankees deal is closer than ever to being accomplished. This entire thing is a joke. I think this guy is a Favre and is loving the spotlight and having a hard time figuring out where to go and what he is going to do after he signs and he isnt the top story any more.
  19. I agree with Brett. Fuentes, while nice, is a little too high-end for me.
  20. ^^ that had me laughing.
  21. Well he is just 26, so I doubt he is declining.
  22. Im telling you man, we're gonna end up taking the fat girl to the prom.
  23. Yeah only two teams out there that I would not like Sheets to sign with, Yankees and Cubs. It might also be hard to see him on the Astros or Cardinals, but nothing would sting like Yankees or Cubs.
  24. This is ridiculous. Teams like the Braves and Cubs are RUMORED to be trading garbage for stub pitchers while we pretend that CC is interested in us. Wont be too long and we'll be taking the fat girl to the prom.
  25. I just completed my two-hour manual shovel of my driveway and sidewalk. You see, my driveway is at least 120 feet long, maybe longer, I am just guessing here. I started at 845. We got about 8 inches (it is still coming down a good clip), but the drifts were well over two feet in some areas. It was exhausting and my morale was way down, when, and I dont mean to go all Kellen Winslow here but, a neighbor appeared in the distance with a snowblower, kicking butt and taking names. I can only imagine that for a moment I felt a bit like some of the guys in those WWII movies/shows did when they were fighting the Germans and it was cold and they were getting their butts kicked and then a tank shows up to bail them out and morale goes up and everyone gives it a little harder. Yeah, end of Winslow rant, but it saved me a hour or so.
