  1. Two bits of anecdotal evidence from last night that have me convinced now more than ever that Chourio will be the one to save us from our collective postseason misery and finally lead us to the promised land.... 1) Catches the final out of the top of the 9th inning and proceeds to full-scale heave the ball into the second deck. 2) After being left in the on deck circle as the potential tying run after Turang's GIDP, stares into the crowd for a solid minute, and then as the Mets are celebrating on the field, shatters his bat into a million pieces This kid, at 20 years of age in his first season, already wants it as badly as we all do....
  2. We really should get in on the Bo Bichette sweepstakes this winter. Cost is going to be relatively limited given the season he's coming off of and his 1 remaining year of control. But, assuming he returns to all-star form (which I think is a solid assumption at 27 going on 28), you'd have effectively replaced Adames' production and would be set up nicely in the IF. I'd be fine giving up Tyler Black+, even for a rental like Bichette.
  3. Was thinking about this last night as I was unable to sleep. For as dominant as Devin is according to all the major statistics, there is just a tiny bit of variance with him because he relies so heavily on the changeup and doesn't really overpower guys with his fastball on its own. When he doesn't have pristine control of the changeup such as last night or in St. Louis, for example, he gets behind hitters who are able to wait him out until he either walks them or gives them a hittable pitch in the zone. This is one of the many reasons I'm in favor of trading him. I'd much rather rely on closers such as Megill or Clase or Hesley who simply overpower guys with their fastball even if it's left over the plate.
  4. All I know is that it’s about more than just winning the division for me next year. I want that playoff bye so bad, and in hindsight it hurts how close we came to getting it.
  5. I think one thing that's clear is that this playoff format sucks and needs to be revised. You're absolutely screwing over the teams that actually win their division over a 162 game season. Home field is not enough in baseball. I think the obvious solution is that division winners should only have to win one game to advance, while the Wild Card teams need to win two.
  6. If we didn't have Jackson Chourio, I don't know what I'd do......
  7. Contreras at least has an excuse with his injury, but talk about going out with a whimper between Williams and Adames.
  8. Good riddance. Time to cash out on this choker. Should be able to get a solid piece or two.
  9. Please Devin no heart attack inning I beg of you.
  10. Gotta steal here. Diaz is sooo slow too the plate.
  11. Hardest hit ball of Frelick's career, too, LOL
  12. Feel like Murphy is overmanaging here.
  13. I can't hate this more, and Murphy deserves to be on the hook for this.
  14. I have zero problem if Murphy pulls Tobias here. He gets hit harder the third time through the order, and Lindor is already 2/2 against him.
  15. I'd be tempted to bring Devin or Megill in for the next two innings.
  16. Well, Quintana is back to owning us again.
  17. Looks like this version is the correct one. Sanchez catching and Turang up to 2nd.
  18. So there’s two versions of the lineup circulating right now, and I’d really like to know which one is the real deal….lol
  19. I mean they can ask for it but I don't think they're guaranteed to get it given Bichette's salary vs. his production this season. BTV, which is admittedly not perfect, has him with negative value. I think negative value is a bit low as it undersells his previous years' production, but this year is going to eat at a good chunk of his value which is limited to begin with as a one year rental. Also depends on the prospect. If the cost was Tyler Black, for example, I'd be fine giving that up.
  20. I think the best option to fill the Adames void in the infield is to explore a Bo Bichette trade with the Blue Jays. You gotta like his chances for a rebound heading into free agency and he'd serve as a nice bridge to Boeve/Wilken. Prospect cost won't be exorbitant given how much he's due to earn in arbitration.
  21. If we're going to win, I think it's going to be because of a veteran or two showing up after the youngsters have been carrying us the last couple days.
