  1. You're one of the few remaining holdouts, a la. the Japanese in the 1950s/60s. The math isn't there, nor is the pitching.
  2. SSS, but Tapia has been way below replacement level for the Brewers. If he doesn't start hitting within the next week, I think you gotta cut bait.
  3. Good god. I'd rather see Winker in the lineup than Tapia. At least Brian Reynolds is on the IL currently.
  4. Why should we remove all stats from COL? Should we do the same with Brent Suter's from this year? Lamet hasn't been a major league caliber pitcher since 2020. It wouldn't make a difference where he pitched.
  5. It's not like we don't need help against RHP, though.
  6. I'm ready to call it. 2023 St. Louis Cardinals, TOD: 6/29/23, 21:30 CST. The Cardinals don't have the pitching to make the sort of run they'd need to at this point.
  7. Does anyone think there's a good reason, with us in a playoff race and absolutely desperate for hitting, why Black shouldn't be called up to the majors directly from AA? Hit tool is ready and as ready as it'll ever get. I get the Brewers don't typically do that, but I think this is a unique player and situation. He'd probably put up at minimum a .380 OBP, which would be the best on the team.
  8. I'm feeling a lights-out second half from Corbin and Freddy, too!
  9. DFA of Bush would have to be the move. But now that I think of it, I think they'll pray for rain and try to get by with multiple innings of Wilson and then Payamps in high leverage and Pannone there for mop-up duty.
  10. I don't think they're going to throw Pannone if they're leading. Ideally, you hope Freddy can go 6 and then go Wilson for 2, and then Payamps if needed to close. Peguero only threw 3 pitches, but he's probably down after pitching Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and today.
  11. If Rea didn't have a good start last game, I would say him. Now, that I look at the roster, I don't think there's a feasible candidate to go down to AAA. DFA of Bush would be the move, and I don't know if they're ready to pull the plug on him. Devin, Hoby, and Elvis are definitely down. Payamps could probably go if you needed him to close a tight game. Probably looking at 6 of Freddy, 2 of Bryse Wilson, and then 1 of Payamps. And if Freddy isn't able to go 6, then we're probably trailing by a good amount, and it's Pannone/Bush time.
  12. Someone’s getting called up on the bullpen shuttle tomorrow especially with Houser going 6 today as the swingman.
  13. Brewers in 1st place at the mathematical half-way point of the season...
  14. Buck Showalter is burning his best relievers once again while trailing....
  15. The Brewers are the biggest poster child why team bullpen ERA is a bad stat.
  16. That is why we can't have nice things.
  17. BA: "Right where you want to be in the batting order"
  18. Very impressive from Houser. If Tehran goes downhill from his latest start, you have to feel pretty good with him available.
  19. That honestly wouldn't shock me. Even if CC doesn't manage the Brewers next year, I think it's likely he returns at some point.
  20. I don't think I would let Houser face Lindor and Alonso.
  21. Catching so much better than last year.
